0:09:50 > 0:09:57.
0:10:06 > 0:10:08So, I've got my screwdriver,
0:10:08 > 0:10:10my hammer,
0:10:10 > 0:10:12and here's my spanner.
0:10:13 > 0:10:15But where's my drill?
0:10:16 > 0:10:17Oh! Hello!
0:10:17 > 0:10:21I'm Derek, I'm sorting out my toolbox.
0:10:21 > 0:10:23I found most of the tools I need.
0:10:23 > 0:10:26You see, I want to invent something.
0:10:26 > 0:10:28I've been thinking about a robot
0:10:28 > 0:10:30who could tie my shoelaces.
0:10:30 > 0:10:33Or there's the machine to button my shirt.
0:10:33 > 0:10:38Wendel, in tonight's bedtime story, likes inventing things too.
0:10:38 > 0:10:40The story is by Chris Riddell
0:10:40 > 0:10:43and is called Wendel's Workshop.
0:10:44 > 0:10:47Wendel was an inventor.
0:10:47 > 0:10:51Sometimes his inventions worked perfectly,
0:10:51 > 0:10:53and sometimes they didn't.
0:10:53 > 0:10:57When they didn't, Wendel threw them away and started again.
0:10:57 > 0:11:01Wendel invented all day, sometimes into the night.
0:11:01 > 0:11:04Sometimes he was so busy he forgot to go to bed.
0:11:04 > 0:11:07And he never had time to tidy up.
0:11:07 > 0:11:11Wendel's workshop became untidier
0:11:11 > 0:11:15and untidier and untidier!
0:11:15 > 0:11:19"I need some help," said Wendel to himself.
0:11:19 > 0:11:21So, Wendel invented a robot.
0:11:21 > 0:11:24Clunk! Clunk! Clunk!
0:11:24 > 0:11:27"I'll call you Clunk," said Wendel.
0:11:27 > 0:11:31Clunk set to work, tidying Wendel's workshop.
0:11:31 > 0:11:34He made the bed, folded the clothes
0:11:34 > 0:11:36and mopped the floor.
0:11:36 > 0:11:38"Oh, dear," said Wendel.
0:11:38 > 0:11:40Clunk tried harder.
0:11:40 > 0:11:45He put tea cups in the sock drawer and umbrellas in the laundry basket.
0:11:45 > 0:11:49"This isn't working," said Wendel.
0:11:49 > 0:11:52So, he threw Clunk down the rubbish chute.
0:11:52 > 0:11:56Clunk! And out onto the scrapheap.
0:11:56 > 0:12:01Inside the workshop, Wendel was inventing a new robot.
0:12:01 > 0:12:04He worked all night and into the morning.
0:12:04 > 0:12:06At last it was finished.
0:12:06 > 0:12:10"I'll call you the...Wendelbot," said Wendel.
0:12:10 > 0:12:15"Tidy!" said the Wendelbot, its red eyes glowing.
0:12:15 > 0:12:17"Tidy!"
0:12:17 > 0:12:18And it set to work.
0:12:18 > 0:12:21The Wendelbot worked perfectly.
0:12:21 > 0:12:23Wendel was very pleased.
0:12:23 > 0:12:26But the Wendelbot didn't stop.
0:12:26 > 0:12:32Its red eyes glowed as it unmade the bed into a neat bundle
0:12:32 > 0:12:35and crushed the tea cups to a tidy pile of powder.
0:12:35 > 0:12:37"Tidy!" the Wendelbot said
0:12:37 > 0:12:42as it shredded the umbrellas and flattened the laundry basket.
0:12:42 > 0:12:43"Tidy!"
0:12:43 > 0:12:46Soon, everything was neat and tidy.
0:12:46 > 0:12:50All except one thing.
0:12:50 > 0:12:53"Tidy!" cried the Wendelbot, as it chased Wendel
0:12:53 > 0:12:55round the workshop.
0:12:55 > 0:12:59"Help!" squeaked Wendel, as he shot down the rubbish chute
0:12:59 > 0:13:01and out onto the scrapheap.
0:13:01 > 0:13:06Then, from quite close by, Wendel heard a clunk.
0:13:06 > 0:13:13"Clunk! I'm so pleased to see you!" said Wendel.
0:13:13 > 0:13:19From inside the workshop, the noise of Wendelbot's hammering grew louder.
0:13:19 > 0:13:22"We need some help," said Wendel.
0:13:22 > 0:13:24"But all we've got is rubbish."
0:13:24 > 0:13:31Clunk reached down and handed Wendel an interesting piece of scrap.
0:13:31 > 0:13:35Wendel smiled, and then he began to invent.
0:13:35 > 0:13:40All day and into the night, Wendel and Clunk were hard at work.
0:13:40 > 0:13:45As the sun rose, the hammering from Wendel's workshop stopped.
0:13:45 > 0:13:49"Workshop tidy!" said the Wendelbot.
0:13:49 > 0:13:53It turned its glowing red eyes towards the window.
0:13:53 > 0:13:57"Now, tidy world!"
0:13:57 > 0:14:02The Wendelbot strode across the workshop and opened the door.
0:14:02 > 0:14:04"Good morning," said Wendel.
0:14:04 > 0:14:08The Wendelbot's eyes glowed red.
0:14:08 > 0:14:10"Tidy!" it said.
0:14:10 > 0:14:15"Untidy! Untidy!" Wendel and his robot helpers shouted
0:14:15 > 0:14:16as they ran inside.
0:14:16 > 0:14:20"Tidy!" cried the Wendelbot, lumbering after them.
0:14:20 > 0:14:22But the robots were too quick.
0:14:22 > 0:14:26The Wendelbot's eyes glowed brighter and brighter
0:14:26 > 0:14:31as Wendel's workshop grew untidier and untidier.
0:14:31 > 0:14:33"TIDY!
0:14:33 > 0:14:36"TIDY!
0:14:36 > 0:14:38"TIDY!"
0:14:39 > 0:14:41BANG!
0:14:42 > 0:14:46When the dust had settled, Wendel sighed.
0:14:46 > 0:14:52"Ah, now we'll have to tidy up again," he said.
0:14:52 > 0:14:55"But not too much this time."
0:14:55 > 0:14:57All the robots helped
0:14:57 > 0:15:00in their different ways.
0:15:00 > 0:15:02Not everything worked perfectly,
0:15:02 > 0:15:04but Wendel didn't mind.
0:15:04 > 0:15:07He just smiled,
0:15:07 > 0:15:10patched this, mended that,
0:15:10 > 0:15:13and made adjustments here and there.
0:15:13 > 0:15:15But there was one thing he didn't do.
0:15:15 > 0:15:22Wendel never threw anything on the scrapheap again.
0:15:22 > 0:15:25And that story was called Wendel's Workshop.
0:15:25 > 0:15:27Maybe that's the answer.
0:15:27 > 0:15:32I'll make a Clunk, like Wendel. He could help me do all sorts of things.
0:15:32 > 0:15:35I wonder where I should start.
0:15:36 > 0:15:40Well, while I get inventing, it's time for you to go to sleep.
0:15:40 > 0:15:44And I'll see you soon for another story. Good night.
0:15:45 > 0:15:46Right, now...
0:15:47 > 0:15:51..if I put this here
0:15:51 > 0:15:55and this here...
