0:00:30 > 0:00:33And there's a train in tonight's Bedtime Story.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36It's a little red train.

0:00:36 > 0:00:41The story is by Benedict Blathwayt and it's called 'Faster, Faster'.

0:00:42 > 0:00:47Duffy Driver was eating his breakfast when the telephone rang.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51"The train to Pebblecombe has broken down," he said.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54"The Little Red Train is needed, I'll rush!"

0:00:54 > 0:00:58The passengers from the broken-down train were cross and worried.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01"Will the Little Red Train get us there on time?

0:01:01 > 0:01:04"We don't want to miss the fair."

0:01:04 > 0:01:07"All aboard for Pebblecombe," called Duffy Driver,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09"We'll go as fast as we can."

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Chuff-chuff went the Little Red Train.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Click-clack went the wheels on the track.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Their first stop was Newtown.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22"Who's for Pebblecombe Fair?" shouted Duffy Driver.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24"Quick as you can!"

0:01:24 > 0:01:29A lady with a big box of strawberries climbed on board.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Whoosh went the steam from the Little Red Train.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Click-clack went the wheels on the track.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Click-clack, clickity-clack.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Next they stopped at Woodhaven.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44"Jump on for Pebblecombe Fair!" shouted Duffy Driver.

0:01:44 > 0:01:49A man with a crate of hens squeezed into the carriage.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51SHE CLUCKS

0:01:51 > 0:01:54"You're running late!" he grumbled.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57"We're doing our best," Duffy Driver said cheerfully.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Chuff-chuff went the Little Red Train.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Click-clack went the wheels on the track. Clickity-clack.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08The Little Red Train stopped at Castledown.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10"We're in a hurry!" said Duffy Driver.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13"This train is for Pebblecombe Fair!"

0:02:13 > 0:02:16A gang of noisy children climbed on board.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19"Me! I'm sitting there! Me! Me!"

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Chuff-chuff went the Little Red Train.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Chuff-chuff, chuffity-chuff!

0:02:25 > 0:02:28The next station was Old Harbour.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32"Any passengers for Pebblecombe?" called Duffy Driver.

0:02:32 > 0:02:37"Is this the right train?" said a boy with a great big dog.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!

0:02:38 > 0:02:43"It is the right train," said Duffy, "and we've no time to lose!"

0:02:43 > 0:02:47"Oooh-whee!" whistled the Little Red Train.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Chuff-chuff, chuffity-chuff.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52When they stopped at Hillside Station

0:02:52 > 0:02:55four musicians were waiting on the platform.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59"We're playing at Pebblecombe Fair and we'll be late."

0:02:59 > 0:03:04"In you get," said Duffy, briskly. "We're going as fast as we can."

0:03:04 > 0:03:07"Woo-whee!" went the Little Red Train.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09"Woo-whee!"

0:03:09 > 0:03:13The Little Red Train went faster than ever before.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Click-clack went the wheels on the track.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Clickity-clickity-clickity-clack!

0:03:19 > 0:03:23"Oh! Slow down!" said the lady with the strawberries.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27"Slow down!" shouted the man with a crate of hens.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31"Slow down!" shrieked the boy with the great big dog.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33"Steady on!" cried the musicians.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37"Faster! Faster! Faster!" yelled the noisy boys.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41But Duffy Driver couldn't hear anyone shouting.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44He shovelled more coal into the firebox

0:03:44 > 0:03:47and the boiler made more and more steam.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49And the wheels on the Little Red Train

0:03:49 > 0:03:52went faster and faster and faster.

0:03:52 > 0:03:57Clickity-clickity-clickity-clickity clickity-clickity-CLACK!

0:03:57 > 0:04:00And right on time the Little Red Train

0:04:00 > 0:04:03pulled into the station at Pebblecombe.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07Out got the lady with the big box of strawberries.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09- The man with the hens. - CLUCKING

0:04:09 > 0:04:11The boy with the dog. Woof-woof!

0:04:11 > 0:04:16The four musicians and the gang of noisy children.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18"Hooray, we're here! Hooray!"

0:04:18 > 0:04:22They thanked Duffy and the Little Red Train

0:04:22 > 0:04:24for getting to Pebblecombe so fast,

0:04:24 > 0:04:28then they all went off to spend the day at the fair.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32Duffy thought he would have another breakfast.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36"Mm! You're the Little Red EXPRESS now," he said

0:04:36 > 0:04:38as he wiped down the fenders.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41"Woo-whee!" went the Little Red Train.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44"Woo-woo-woo-wheeeee!"

0:04:45 > 0:04:49And that story was called 'Faster, Faster'.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54was really speeding through the countryside, wasn't he?

0:04:54 > 0:04:59But it's time for you to be speedy and go off somewhere else.
