0:34:06 > 0:34:08So, you've got a tail.
0:34:08 > 0:34:10Wings, of course.
0:34:10 > 0:34:13Scaly skin. And...
0:34:13 > 0:34:16Hello, I'm Sanjeev.
0:34:16 > 0:34:20This dragon is letting me have a very close look at him.
0:34:20 > 0:34:26Look, he's got scaly skin, pointy claws, two little wings.
0:34:26 > 0:34:29I'm not sure how far he could fly with these wings!
0:34:29 > 0:34:32Are all dragons the same colour?
0:34:32 > 0:34:36Maybe the dragon in tonight's story could tell us.
0:34:36 > 0:34:37He's called Zog
0:34:37 > 0:34:42and the story is by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
0:34:42 > 0:34:46Madam Dragon ran a school, many moons ago.
0:34:46 > 0:34:51She taught young dragons all the things that dragons need to know.
0:34:51 > 0:34:56Zog, the biggest dragon, was the keenest one by far.
0:34:56 > 0:35:01He tried his hardest every day to win a golden star.
0:35:01 > 0:35:05All the dragons in Year One were learning how to fly.
0:35:05 > 0:35:10"High," said Madam Dragon, "way up in the sky."
0:35:10 > 0:35:13"Now that you've been shown, you can practise on your own."
0:35:13 > 0:35:17"You'll all be expert flyers by the time you're fully grown."
0:35:17 > 0:35:20Zog went off to practise.
0:35:20 > 0:35:24Flying fast and free, he soared and swooped and looped the loop
0:35:24 > 0:35:27and then crashed into the tree!
0:35:28 > 0:35:33Just then, a little girl came by. "Oh, please don't cry," she said.
0:35:33 > 0:35:36"Perhaps you'd like a nice, sticky plaster for your head."
0:35:36 > 0:35:39"What a good idea!" said Zog.
0:35:39 > 0:35:41Then, up and off he flew.
0:35:41 > 0:35:46His plaster gleaming pinkily as he zigzagged through the blue.
0:35:46 > 0:35:51A year went by, and in Year Two, the dragons learned to roar.
0:35:51 > 0:35:55"More!" said Madam Dragon. "Louder, I implore."
0:35:55 > 0:35:59"Now that you've been shown, you can practise on your own."
0:35:59 > 0:36:03"You'll be champion roarers by the time you're fully grown."
0:36:03 > 0:36:08Zog went off to practise. He roared with fearsome force.
0:36:08 > 0:36:12He kept it up for hours on end but then his throat grew hoarse!
0:36:12 > 0:36:14Just then, the girl came by again.
0:36:14 > 0:36:17She said, "What rotten luck!"
0:36:17 > 0:36:20"Perhaps you'd like a nice, soothing peppermint to suck."
0:36:20 > 0:36:23"What a good idea!" said Zog.
0:36:23 > 0:36:25Then, up and off he flew.
0:36:25 > 0:36:30And breathing fumes of peppermint, he zigzagged through the blue.
0:36:30 > 0:36:34A year went by, and in Year Three, the dragons learned to blow.
0:36:34 > 0:36:40"No!" said Madam Dragon. "Breathe out fire not snow!"
0:36:40 > 0:36:44"Now that you've been shown, you can practise on your own!
0:36:44 > 0:36:48"You'll all be breathing bonfires by the time you're fully grown."
0:36:48 > 0:36:50Zog went off to practise.
0:36:50 > 0:36:53He blew with all his might.
0:36:53 > 0:36:58He twirled around in triumph and his wing tip caught alight!
0:36:58 > 0:37:01Just then, the girl came by again.
0:37:01 > 0:37:04She said, "You poor old thing."
0:37:04 > 0:37:08"Perhaps you'd like a nice, stretchy bandage for your wing."
0:37:08 > 0:37:11"What a good idea!" said Zog.
0:37:11 > 0:37:13Then, up and off he flew.
0:37:13 > 0:37:17His bandage flapping wildly as he zigzagged through the blue.
0:37:18 > 0:37:24All the Year Four dragons were learning... Can you guess?
0:37:24 > 0:37:28"Yes!" said Madam Dragon. "How to capture a princess."
0:37:28 > 0:37:32"Now that you've been shown, you can practise on your own."
0:37:32 > 0:37:35"You'll need to capture hundreds by the time you're fully grown."
0:37:35 > 0:37:38Zog went off to practise.
0:37:38 > 0:37:43He tried and tried and tried, but he simply couldn't manage.
0:37:43 > 0:37:46"I'm no good at this," he cried.
0:37:46 > 0:37:49"I'll never win a golden star."
0:37:49 > 0:37:51Just then, he saw the girl.
0:37:51 > 0:37:55"Perhaps," she said, "you'd like to capture me."
0:37:55 > 0:37:57"I'm Princess Pearl."
0:37:57 > 0:38:00"What a good idea!" said Zog.
0:38:00 > 0:38:01Then, up and off they flew.
0:38:01 > 0:38:06The princess gripping tightly as they zigzagged through the blue.
0:38:06 > 0:38:11"Ah!" said Madam Dragon, "Our first princess so far."
0:38:11 > 0:38:15"Congratulations, Zog. My dear, you've won a golden star."
0:38:15 > 0:38:21Zog was proud and happy and Pearl felt good as well.
0:38:21 > 0:38:26She took the dragons' temperatures and nursed them when they fell.
0:38:26 > 0:38:31A year went by, and in Year Five, the dragons learned to fight.
0:38:31 > 0:38:36"Right!" said Madam Dragon. "Here comes a real live knight!"
0:38:36 > 0:38:39Up spoke the knight.
0:38:39 > 0:38:42"My name," he said, "is Gadabout the Great."
0:38:42 > 0:38:46"I've come to rescue Princess Pearl. I hope I'm not too late."
0:38:46 > 0:38:49Zog breathed fire and beat his wings.
0:38:49 > 0:38:53"You can't! She's mine!" he roared.
0:38:53 > 0:38:58"Oh, no, she's not," yelled Gadabout and waved his trusty sword.
0:38:58 > 0:39:02The other dragons crowded round and watched them all agog.
0:39:02 > 0:39:05Who was going to win the fight?
0:39:05 > 0:39:07Sir Gadabout or Zog?
0:39:07 > 0:39:13Then Princess Pearl stepped forward crying, "Stop, you silly chumps!"
0:39:13 > 0:39:17"The world's already far too full of cuts and burns and bumps."
0:39:17 > 0:39:20"Don't rescue me. I won't go back to being a princess
0:39:20 > 0:39:24"and prancing around the palace in a silly, frilly dress."
0:39:24 > 0:39:27"I want to be a doctor and travel here and there."
0:39:27 > 0:39:31"Listening to people's chests and giving them my care."
0:39:31 > 0:39:35"Me too!" exclaimed the knight and took his helmet off his head.
0:39:35 > 0:39:40"I'd rather wear a nice, twisty stethoscope," he said.
0:39:40 > 0:39:43"Perhaps, Princess, you'll train me up?"
0:39:43 > 0:39:45Pearl replied, "Of course!"
0:39:45 > 0:39:49"But I don't see how the two of us could fit upon your horse?"
0:39:49 > 0:39:54Then Zog said, "Flying Doctors, I'd love to join the crew."
0:39:54 > 0:39:57"If you let me be your ambulance, I can carry you."
0:39:57 > 0:40:01"Bravo!" said Madam Dragon. "An excellent career."
0:40:01 > 0:40:05And all the Year Five dragons gave a loud, resounding cheer.
0:40:05 > 0:40:10Then Madam Dragon told the horse, "I really hope you'll stay."
0:40:10 > 0:40:14"I'll let you be my pupils' pet and feed you lots of hay."
0:40:14 > 0:40:17"What a good idea!" said Zog.
0:40:17 > 0:40:20Then, up and off he flew.
0:40:20 > 0:40:25The Flying Doctors waving as they zigzagged through the blue.
0:40:25 > 0:40:28That story was called Zog.
0:40:28 > 0:40:32So there really are lots of different colours of dragons.
0:40:32 > 0:40:34These wings are very strong.
0:40:34 > 0:40:39So strong, they can carry two people! Wow!
0:40:39 > 0:40:42It's time for you to zigzag and fly off to bed.
0:40:42 > 0:40:46I'll see you soon for another story. Good night.
0:40:46 > 0:40:52Now, I think you deserve a gold star for telling me all about dragons.
0:40:52 > 0:40:55And there's one for you there. Well done!
0:40:55 > 0:40:58There you go, you can hold onto that.
