0:00:14 > 0:00:17Oh, hello. I'm Charlie.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21I'm just testing out these spoons for an egg and spoon race.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24And this one is perfect.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27Just give it a go.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Perfect!

0:00:32 > 0:00:37Do you know what? There's a special egg in tonight's Bedtime Story.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41So special that the story was named after him.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45It's by Alex T Smith and it's called "Egg".

0:00:46 > 0:00:50Of all the suspicious houses in all the deserted woods

0:00:50 > 0:00:54in all the world, he had to roll up to hers.

0:00:54 > 0:00:59Foxy Dubois was utterly charming and always kind to strangers,

0:00:59 > 0:01:02so she invited Egg in for a bite to eat.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Whilst Foxy skipped off to the kitchen,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Egg rolled around the grand house.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13"You have some interesting paintings," shouted Egg.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16But Foxy wasn't listening.

0:01:16 > 0:01:20She was too busy cooking up a perfect cunning plan.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24Foxy wanted the biggest, most delicious egg to eat,

0:01:24 > 0:01:29so she put part one of her sneaky plan into action.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31She would feed Egg up.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35When dinner was served, it was a very splendid affair.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Egg wobbled with excitement.

0:01:39 > 0:01:43Foxy wanted a big egg, but she also wanted a fit egg.

0:01:43 > 0:01:49So, after dinner, she put part two of her devious plan into action.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51They would play games.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54They had an egg and spoon race in the hallway,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57they played hide-and-seek in the library,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00followed by musical chairs in the drawing room.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03At the end of the night, Egg was in a complete spin.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06It had been a delightful evening,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09but he needed to rest his weary shell.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13"You simply must stay over," said Foxy.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17"I have something even more wonderful planned for breakfast."

0:02:17 > 0:02:21As Egg snuggled down in his cosy bed,

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Foxy spent the night dreaming eggy dreams.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28There were scrambled eggs and fried eggs,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31poached eggs and baked eggs and best of all,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33soft boiled eggs and soldiers.

0:02:33 > 0:02:39But when Foxy Dubois awoke the next morning, she was in for a shock.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43During the night, something had changed.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Egg was a fragile little thing no more.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50He was enormous!

0:02:50 > 0:02:55Foxy rubbed her hands with glee. Her crafty plan had worked.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58It was going to be a big breakfast.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02But just then, Egg started to crack.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Foxy lipped her lips.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Crack! She licked her lips some more.

0:03:10 > 0:03:16Them with one final crack, Foxy saw what was inside.

0:03:16 > 0:03:21"Good morning," said Alfonso wickedly.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23"Am I in time for breakfast?"

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And that story was called "Egg".

0:03:28 > 0:03:34Ooh, I hope there's not a baby crocodile inside this egg.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37I don't think there will be. Do you?

0:03:37 > 0:03:41Well, while I keep practising for my egg and spoon race,

0:03:41 > 0:03:43it's time for you to go to bed

0:03:43 > 0:03:47and I'll see you soon for another Bedtime Story. Night-night.
