0:07:06 > 0:07:09There. All tidied up.
0:07:09 > 0:07:13Hello. I'm Sheila. I was just tidying up the bedroom.
0:07:13 > 0:07:15All the toys have been left out
0:07:15 > 0:07:18and they really should be put away, ready for bed.
0:07:18 > 0:07:22Is your bedroom all nice and tidy? I hope so.
0:07:22 > 0:07:27Well, in tonight's bedtime story, there's a very messy teddy
0:07:27 > 0:07:30and a very tidy teddy.
0:07:30 > 0:07:33The story is called Matty In A Mess
0:07:33 > 0:07:36and it's by Miriam Moss and Jane Simmons.
0:07:38 > 0:07:40Once upon a time,
0:07:40 > 0:07:44there were two bears who lived together with Frampton the cat
0:07:44 > 0:07:49in a cosy pink house in the middle of a leafy forest.
0:07:49 > 0:07:53Matty was a trim, orderly bear
0:07:53 > 0:07:56who ate breakfast neatly at the kitchen table.
0:07:56 > 0:08:01Milly was a higgledy-piggledy, topsy-turvy, tousled bear
0:08:01 > 0:08:03who liked making crumbs in bed.
0:08:03 > 0:08:09Matty kept his hairbrush in a tidy drawer where he could find it.
0:08:09 > 0:08:12Milly's was always lost in a jumble of clutter.
0:08:12 > 0:08:16Matty took his boots off when he came in from outside.
0:08:16 > 0:08:20Milly trailed muddy footprints all over the house.
0:08:20 > 0:08:23Matty squeezed his toothpaste carefully
0:08:23 > 0:08:25from the bottom of the tube.
0:08:25 > 0:08:28Milly squished hers messily from the middle.
0:08:28 > 0:08:33Matty licked the honey spoon clean to stop it dripping.
0:08:33 > 0:08:35Milly always forgot.
0:08:35 > 0:08:40"Why do you always forget," Matty asked.
0:08:40 > 0:08:42"I don't know," said Milly.
0:08:42 > 0:08:45"I suppose I'm always thinking of something else."
0:08:45 > 0:08:49"Let's play outside," said Milly one windy afternoon.
0:08:49 > 0:08:53"I can't," sighed Matty. "I've got too much to do."
0:08:53 > 0:08:57So while Milly danced about in huge piles of leaves,
0:08:57 > 0:09:01Matty swept the carpets, wiped up the toothpaste,
0:09:01 > 0:09:05cleaned the honey pot, fed Frampton and did the washing.
0:09:05 > 0:09:08When Matty went outside to hang up the clothes,
0:09:08 > 0:09:12leaves and twigs swirled everywhere.
0:09:12 > 0:09:15Then the wind started to roar.
0:09:15 > 0:09:18It blew the clean washing all over the garden.
0:09:18 > 0:09:21Overhead, trees creaked and groaned.
0:09:21 > 0:09:25Matty was terrified. "Help!" he shouted. "Help!"
0:09:25 > 0:09:29Milly heard him. Quickly, she gathered up the dirty washing,
0:09:29 > 0:09:33pushed Matty inside and slammed the door shut. Milly shut the windows.
0:09:33 > 0:09:36Matty shivered in the kitchen, clutching Frampton
0:09:36 > 0:09:40while the wind rattled the doors and howled down the chimney.
0:09:40 > 0:09:44Suddenly there was a creeeaaak, then a crrrackkk,
0:09:44 > 0:09:46followed by a terrific crrrasssh!
0:09:46 > 0:09:51They all dived under the kitchen table just as a huge tree
0:09:51 > 0:09:54came crashing in through the roof.
0:09:54 > 0:09:56When the wind finally died down,
0:09:56 > 0:09:59Milly looked out from under the table.
0:09:59 > 0:10:02"Uh?! Oh, dear!" she sighed. "What a mess!"
0:10:02 > 0:10:04Then she looked at Matty.
0:10:04 > 0:10:08"Goodness," she said, "that's a very big bump on your head, Matty."
0:10:08 > 0:10:11But Matty didn't answer.
0:10:11 > 0:10:16He just sat, stroking Frampton and smiling at the tree.
0:10:16 > 0:10:20Milly put a cold cloth on Matty's bump, re-washed the washing
0:10:20 > 0:10:22and started to tidy the house.
0:10:22 > 0:10:25Matty just sat, staring up through the greenery
0:10:25 > 0:10:30to where the clouds raced. Soon the moon rose up.
0:10:31 > 0:10:37Milly fixed two hammocks to the tree, helped Matty to bed
0:10:37 > 0:10:39and fell fast asleep herself.
0:10:39 > 0:10:43Milly shook Matty awake the next morning.
0:10:43 > 0:10:47"Now," she said, "how shall we get rid of this tree?"
0:10:47 > 0:10:51"I rather like it," Matty smiled.
0:10:51 > 0:10:54"You do?!" said Milly, surprised.
0:10:54 > 0:10:58"Mmmm," said Matty, "I doooo."
0:10:58 > 0:11:03So the two bears re-built the house around the tree.
0:11:03 > 0:11:08Now, time upon a once, two bears lived together with Frampton
0:11:08 > 0:11:12in the middle of a leafy forest in a cosy, pink tree-house.
0:11:12 > 0:11:18Milly is still a higgledy-piggledy, topsy-turvy bear
0:11:18 > 0:11:22but these days sometimes she remembers not to trail
0:11:22 > 0:11:26muddy footprints round the house. And Matty is still a trim,
0:11:26 > 0:11:31orderly bear who eats breakfast neatly at the kitchen table
0:11:31 > 0:11:35but these days sometimes he stops doing the housework
0:11:35 > 0:11:41and joins Milly to dance about in huge piles of leaves.
0:11:43 > 0:11:46That story was called Matty In A Mess.
0:11:46 > 0:11:50What a fabulous idea - to live in a tree-house
0:11:50 > 0:11:53and go to sleep in cosy hammocks.
0:11:53 > 0:11:58Are you all wrapped up cosy in your bed like the bears in the story?
0:11:58 > 0:12:01Good. Because it's time to say goodnight.
0:12:01 > 0:12:05Night-night. Sleep tight.
0:12:05 > 0:12:09It's time to put you two bears to bed as well.
0:12:10 > 0:12:15There they are, all nice a cosy.
