0:00:06 > 0:00:10Ooh, that's better. A nice cosy cup of tea.

0:00:10 > 0:00:11Oh, hello!

0:00:11 > 0:00:16My name's Jonas. I'm trying to get nice and cosy for tonight's story.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19So I thought a warm mug of tea would help.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22Are you nice and cosy and ready for bed?

0:00:22 > 0:00:25It's a bit cold in tonight's bedtime story,

0:00:25 > 0:00:28so I'm glad we're wrapped up, indoors.

0:00:28 > 0:00:33This story is by Debi Gliori and it's called, Mr Bear To The Rescue

0:00:35 > 0:00:38It was a wild and windy night in the forest.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41A night where the best place to be was indoors,

0:00:41 > 0:00:45snug and warm, with windows and doors shut to keep the weather out.

0:00:45 > 0:00:50Mr Bear was tucked up in bed, listening to the wind howling.

0:00:50 > 0:00:54"Did you hear that?" said Mrs Bear.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57"It sounded like someone calling, "Help!""

0:00:57 > 0:01:01"It's just the wind, dear," said Mr Bear.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04"Help!" said a small voice.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06"There!" said Mrs Bear.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10"I did hear something. Go and see who it is, dear."

0:01:12 > 0:01:16Mr Bear went downstairs and opened the front door.

0:01:16 > 0:01:20"Please help!" said a very small voice,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23from somewhere around Mr Bear's ankles

0:01:23 > 0:01:26and clinging on to the doorstep was Mr Rabbit Bun.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28"Our warren collapsed!" he wailed.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32"The Hoot-Toowits' nest blew away, the Buzzies' hive is ruined,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35"and we can't find baby Flora!"

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Then Mr Rabbit Bun vanished into the night.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41"Help is on its way!" said Mr Bear, grabbing tools

0:01:41 > 0:01:44and a honey sandwich, just in case.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47"Do be careful, dear," said Mrs Bear.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51"Don't worry," said Mr Bear, as he blew down the garden.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53"I'll be fine."

0:01:53 > 0:01:56It was a long way to the Rabbit Buns' house.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Mr Bear tripped and stumbled over branches,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02and several times, his lantern nearly blew out.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06"Aaargh!" A tangle of feathers and claws blew into his face.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09"Eek!" squawked Mr Hoot-Toowit.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13"Oh, it's you!" they both cried in unison.

0:02:13 > 0:02:18"I can't see your house anywhere," said Mr Bear, peering into the dark.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22"You're standing in it," said Mr Hoot-Toowit, sadly.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26And there lay the remains of the tree that the Hoot-Toowits

0:02:26 > 0:02:29had shared with the Buzzies and Rabbit Buns.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34"Oh, Mr Bear! Thank heavens you've come!" cried a voice.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36"Please can you help us find Flora?

0:02:36 > 0:02:38"And can you fix our hive?

0:02:38 > 0:02:40"And mend our nest?"

0:02:40 > 0:02:44Mr Bear found himself surrounded by rabbits, owls and bees.

0:02:44 > 0:02:50"Help!" thought Mr Bear. "What on earth am I supposed to do?"

0:02:50 > 0:02:54He scrabbled around in his toolkit and found his honey sandwich.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57A brilliant idea occurred to him.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01"What's that for?" asked one of the small Rabbit Buns.

0:03:01 > 0:03:07"Glue," said Mr Bear, peeling the sandwich apart.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08"Hive glue, in fact.

0:03:08 > 0:03:13"Look, I'll spread a little here and another little dollop, there."

0:03:13 > 0:03:17"And then there'll be a sticky mess," groaned a small Buzz.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23"Oh, dear," said Mr Bear. "Mrs Bear will fix that.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26"She's very good at that sort of thing."

0:03:26 > 0:03:29"And what about my nest?" said Mr Hoot-Toowit?

0:03:29 > 0:03:33"Well, let's see," said Mr Bear, picking it up.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37And then the nest fell apart in his paws.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40"Oh!" Mrs Hoot-Toowit sighed.

0:03:40 > 0:03:46"Er, yes," said Mr Bear. "Mrs Bear will knit you another in no time."

0:03:46 > 0:03:51The animals put the sticky hive and broken nest into Mr Bear's toolkit,

0:03:51 > 0:03:55just as the heavens opened.

0:03:55 > 0:04:00Rain poured down through the trees and the animals ran for shelter.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04Mr Bear's lantern hissed, and then fizzled, and then went out.

0:04:04 > 0:04:09"How will we ever find Flora now?" wailed Mrs Rabbit Bun.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12And Mr Bear anxiously looked up to the sky.

0:04:12 > 0:04:17"Good grief!" he cried. "I've found her!"

0:04:17 > 0:04:21And there, high in the branches of the sheltering tree

0:04:21 > 0:04:25was a tiny rabbit, wrapped in a blanket and fast asleep.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28"I'll just climb up and get her," said Mr Bear.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31"What a hero you are!" sighed Mrs Rabbit Bun.

0:04:31 > 0:04:36But Mr Bear did not feel heroic as he inched up the slippery tree,

0:04:36 > 0:04:39which creaked and groaned with every move.

0:04:39 > 0:04:44At last, he disentangled the blanket, cradled Flora in his arms,

0:04:44 > 0:04:50and "Aaargh!" yelled Mr Bear. "Wee-ee!" said Flora, waking up.

0:04:50 > 0:04:55"Gosh, what a good idea!" said Mr Rabbit Bun,

0:04:55 > 0:04:59as Flora's blanket fanned out into a perfect parachute.

0:04:59 > 0:05:03Mr Bear and the bunny floated safely down to the ground.

0:05:03 > 0:05:08"What a brilliant Mr Bear!" said Mrs Rabbit Bun, hugging his knees.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13Mr Bear re-lit his lantern and loaded his friends into his toolkit.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16"Hold tight!" he said. "I'm taking you home."

0:05:16 > 0:05:21Back through the storm they went until reaching the top of the hill

0:05:21 > 0:05:24and could see Mr Bear's house with lights on.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27"Not far now," he said. "We're nearly there.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31Mrs Bear had been busy organising beds for everyone

0:05:31 > 0:05:35and, when her nettle soup had warmed every tummy, large and small,

0:05:35 > 0:05:38the Bear house filled with snores.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41And then Mr Bear sank into a chair with a groan,

0:05:41 > 0:05:44and Baby Bear clambered onto his tummy.

0:05:44 > 0:05:49"What a brilliant Mr Bear your Daddy is," said Mrs Bear.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51"So good at fixing things."

0:05:51 > 0:05:54HE YAWNS

0:05:54 > 0:05:57Mr Bear gave a huge yawn.

0:05:57 > 0:06:04"In fact," continued Mrs Bear, "I have more things for Daddy to fix.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08"There's the squeaky bathroom door, the blocked sink,

0:06:08 > 0:06:10"and the smokey chimney."

0:06:10 > 0:06:14HE SNORES Mr Bear gave a loud snore.

0:06:14 > 0:06:20"But they can all wait until tomorrow," said Mrs Bear.

0:06:20 > 0:06:25"Even brilliant Mr Bears need a bit of rescuing at times," she said,

0:06:25 > 0:06:29tucking a blanket around Mr Bear and the baby and heading up to bed.

0:06:29 > 0:06:33And that story was called, Mr Bear To The Rescue.

0:06:33 > 0:06:38Mmm, I like the idea of a honey sandwich.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40It'd be just right with my mug of tea.

0:06:40 > 0:06:45In fact, I think I'll just go and find one while you go off to bed.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49And I'll see you soon for another story. Goodnight!
