0:37:11 > 0:37:15Abracadabra!

0:37:15 > 0:37:17No.

0:37:17 > 0:37:20Oh, hello. I'm Shobna.

0:37:20 > 0:37:25I want to turn the CBeebies rug into a magical flying carpet

0:37:25 > 0:37:27but my spell isn't working.

0:37:27 > 0:37:31Maybe if I try another one. Let's try this one.

0:37:31 > 0:37:36One...two...three... Alakazam!

0:37:36 > 0:37:40No, that hasn't worked. Maybe tonight's story might help.

0:37:40 > 0:37:42It's by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul

0:37:42 > 0:37:45and is called Winnie's Flying Carpet.

0:37:45 > 0:37:48Winnie the Witch was busy writing letters.

0:37:48 > 0:37:51They were thank you letters for her birthday presents.

0:37:51 > 0:37:54There was only one left - the trickiest letter.

0:37:54 > 0:37:57Winnie's sisters, Wilma, Wanda and Wendy,

0:37:57 > 0:37:59had given her a flying carpet.

0:37:59 > 0:38:02Winnie had always wanted a flying carpet

0:38:02 > 0:38:05but this flying carpet had been a disappointment.

0:38:05 > 0:38:08Actually, it had been a disaster.

0:38:08 > 0:38:11There was the time it got tangled in Winnie's washing.

0:38:11 > 0:38:15the day it tipped over at the duck pond.

0:38:15 > 0:38:18And then, one day, it turned a corner too quickly.

0:38:18 > 0:38:23After that, Winnie rolled up the carpet, tied it with string,

0:38:23 > 0:38:27put it in the broom cupboard and locked the door.

0:38:27 > 0:38:31But Winnie wanted to write something nice about the carpet

0:38:31 > 0:38:32in her letter.

0:38:32 > 0:38:35She unlocked the cupboard, untied the carpet

0:38:35 > 0:38:38and spread it onto the armchair.

0:38:38 > 0:38:41"It's a beautiful carpet," she thought.

0:38:41 > 0:38:43"It seems a pity not to use it."

0:38:43 > 0:38:47So, Winnie decided to give it one more chance.

0:38:47 > 0:38:48Just then, the doorbell rang.

0:38:48 > 0:38:50Ding dong!

0:38:50 > 0:38:53Winnie hurried off to answer it

0:38:53 > 0:38:56just as Wilbur came inside.

0:38:56 > 0:39:00After a busy morning climbing trees and chasing butterflies,

0:39:00 > 0:39:03he was ready for his sleep.

0:39:03 > 0:39:05The sun was shining on the flying carpet.

0:39:05 > 0:39:08It looked so warm and comfortable.

0:39:08 > 0:39:11Wilbur jumped up and, in one minute, he was snoring.

0:39:11 > 0:39:15The flying carpet waited one more minute

0:39:15 > 0:39:19then it rose gently into the air. Wilbur didn't wake up.

0:39:19 > 0:39:24It flew gently round the room. Wilbur didn't wake up.

0:39:24 > 0:39:26Then it zoomed out of the window!

0:39:26 > 0:39:29- MIAOW!- Wilbur woke up.

0:39:29 > 0:39:34"Miaow!" he cried. Winnie heard him. She looked up just in time

0:39:34 > 0:39:38to see the flying carpet zoom up into the sky.

0:39:38 > 0:39:39"Oh, no!" cried Winnie.

0:39:39 > 0:39:43She grabbed her magic wand and her broomstick

0:39:43 > 0:39:46and zoomed up into the sky after them.

0:39:46 > 0:39:49Winnie flew as fast as her broomstick could go

0:39:49 > 0:39:51but the carpet was faster.

0:39:51 > 0:39:55It swooped over the clock tower and under a bridge.

0:39:55 > 0:39:56Winnie followed it.

0:39:56 > 0:40:01"Hang on tight, Wilbur!" she called. "Miaow!" cried Wilbur.

0:40:01 > 0:40:04Then the carpet flew over a funfair. What fun!

0:40:04 > 0:40:07First, it whizzed down the Roller Coaster Rocket.

0:40:07 > 0:40:09Winnie whizzed down behind it.

0:40:09 > 0:40:12Then it tried the Terrible Twister.

0:40:12 > 0:40:14The carpet was having a wonderful time.

0:40:14 > 0:40:17Wilbur was having a horrible time!

0:40:17 > 0:40:20Winnie was worried. She would never catch them.

0:40:20 > 0:40:26Then she had an idea. She waved a magic wand, shouted "Abracadabra!"

0:40:27 > 0:40:29And everything stopped.

0:40:29 > 0:40:33Nothing whizzed or zoomed or shrieked or splashed.

0:40:33 > 0:40:37All was still. Including the flying carpet.

0:40:37 > 0:40:40Wilbur jumped onto Winnie's shoulder.

0:40:40 > 0:40:43"Prrr! Prrr!" he said.

0:40:43 > 0:40:46Then Winnie rolled up the flying carpet.

0:40:46 > 0:40:50"Let's go home, Wilbur," she said. "By broomstick!"

0:40:50 > 0:40:53Winnie waved her magic wand backwards.

0:40:53 > 0:40:58"Abracadabra!" she shouted and everything started again.

0:40:58 > 0:41:01Whee! Zoom! Whizz! Vroom!

0:41:01 > 0:41:05Winnie and Wilbur landed in Winnie's garden.

0:41:05 > 0:41:09Winnie frowned at the flying carpet. What would she do with it?

0:41:09 > 0:41:12Then Winnie had a wonderful idea.

0:41:12 > 0:41:16She shut her eyes and waved her wand.

0:41:16 > 0:41:19"Abracadabra!"

0:41:19 > 0:41:24And there, tied to two trees, was a beautiful hammock.

0:41:24 > 0:41:29Winnie and Wilbur climbed in. They were both very tired.

0:41:29 > 0:41:32The hammock rocked gently in the breeze.

0:41:32 > 0:41:35"This is so comfortable, Wilbur," said Winnie.

0:41:35 > 0:41:39But Wilbur didn't hear. He was already fast asleep.

0:41:40 > 0:41:44And that story was called Winnie's Flying Carpet.

0:41:44 > 0:41:50Hmm, well, maybe a flying carpet isn't such a good idea, after all.

0:41:50 > 0:41:54I wonder if I can try any other spells.

0:41:54 > 0:41:57And while I do, it's time for you to go to sleep.

0:41:57 > 0:42:03Just like Wilbur. I'll see you soon for another story.

0:42:03 > 0:42:04Na-night.

0:42:04 > 0:42:10Now, let's see what other spell I can do.
