0:16:50 > 0:16:57.
0:17:07 > 0:17:11Just imagine wearing a beautiful glittery dress
0:17:11 > 0:17:15and having cameras take pictures of you all the time.
0:17:15 > 0:17:17Oh, hello! I'm Shobna.
0:17:17 > 0:17:21Have you ever dreamed of being famous? I have.
0:17:21 > 0:17:25Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be anyone you could be?
0:17:25 > 0:17:26Hmm, I have.
0:17:26 > 0:17:29But I'm just me. Shobna.
0:17:29 > 0:17:35The snail in tonight's Bedtime Story has very big dreams,
0:17:35 > 0:17:38as he wants to be extraordinary.
0:17:38 > 0:17:42This story is by Laura Adkins and Sam Hearn
0:17:42 > 0:17:44and it's called Ordinary Oscar.
0:17:45 > 0:17:50In the moonlit garden of number six Crinkley Close, the snails are busy.
0:17:50 > 0:17:54Slowly, they munch and crunch the tasty tender leaves
0:17:54 > 0:17:56of the potted plants and juicy lettuces.
0:17:56 > 0:18:01"We're all happy snails." Well, nearly all of them.
0:18:01 > 0:18:04Oscar Slimeglider was not happy.
0:18:04 > 0:18:07"I'm tired of sleeping all day," he said.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10"I'm fed up with eating all night.
0:18:10 > 0:18:13"I'm bored with being greenish greyish brownish.
0:18:13 > 0:18:18"I want other snails to look and say 'Wow! There's Oscar Slimeglider!
0:18:18 > 0:18:22"'I want to be different. I want to be famous.'"
0:18:22 > 0:18:26"'Oh, Oscar. Slime my autograph. Ooh, he just oozes charm.
0:18:26 > 0:18:29"'He's really come out of his shell.'"
0:18:29 > 0:18:33"Nonsense," frowned Oscar's dad. "What's wrong with sleeping all day
0:18:33 > 0:18:35"and eating all night?
0:18:35 > 0:18:40"And what's wrong with being greenish greyish brownish?" said Oscar's mum.
0:18:40 > 0:18:44"Your 25 brothers and sisters never complain."
0:18:44 > 0:18:46But Oscar was determined.
0:18:46 > 0:18:51"The wise old snail will know what to do," he declared. So off he went.
0:18:51 > 0:18:54"What do you want to be famous for?" asked the wise old snail.
0:18:54 > 0:18:59"Can you paint? Can you dance? Can you play the guitar?"
0:18:59 > 0:19:04Oscar shook his head. "Being famous isn't always easy, you know,"
0:19:04 > 0:19:09grumbled the wise old snail. "Are you sure about this?"
0:19:09 > 0:19:13Oscar nodded. "Very well then," sighed the wise old snail.
0:19:13 > 0:19:17"You're going to need a bit of magic."
0:19:17 > 0:19:19And he told Oscar what to do.
0:19:19 > 0:19:22Oscar waited patiently for the sun to rise.
0:19:22 > 0:19:25Then he turned around three times and cried,
0:19:25 > 0:19:28"Slime, slime, slither, slither
0:19:28 > 0:19:32"Fairy Godsnail, please come hither."
0:19:32 > 0:19:38The Fairy Godsnail appeared. "So, you want to be famous," she smiled.
0:19:38 > 0:19:41"Yes, please," Oscar wriggled eagerly.
0:19:41 > 0:19:45"Then, I shall grant you three wishes," replied the Fairy Godsnail.
0:19:45 > 0:19:48"But choose carefully," she warned.
0:19:48 > 0:19:51Then she waved her magic wand and disappeared.
0:19:51 > 0:19:55Oscar closed his eyes tightly and made a wish.
0:19:55 > 0:20:01Slowly, Oscar opened his eyes. "Look at me," he gasped.
0:20:01 > 0:20:04"I'll be famous for being the most marvellous mollusc.
0:20:04 > 0:20:07"I'm a stunning, stupendous, spectacular snail.
0:20:07 > 0:20:10"Everyone will admire me."
0:20:10 > 0:20:13And sure enough, someone was admiring Oscar.
0:20:13 > 0:20:19Up above, a hungry bird smiled to himself.
0:20:19 > 0:20:24"That snail looks like a tasty treat," he thought, plunging down.
0:20:24 > 0:20:29"Help! Help! Get your greedy beak off me!" Oscar wailed.
0:20:29 > 0:20:33"I wish I was bigger than you. Much, much bigger!"
0:20:33 > 0:20:35Oscar landed in town.
0:20:35 > 0:20:40He was bigger than a bus, bigger than six buses glued together.
0:20:40 > 0:20:44"Call the police! Call the fire brigade! Call the army!"
0:20:44 > 0:20:48All around him, tiny people were screaming and running away.
0:20:48 > 0:20:50"It's horrible!" they cried.
0:20:50 > 0:20:53As the sun began to sink,
0:20:53 > 0:20:56Oscar slithered into the woods to hide.
0:20:56 > 0:21:00"Now I'm famous for being frightening," he sniffed.
0:21:00 > 0:21:03"And I have no friends."
0:21:03 > 0:21:05Oscar began to cry.
0:21:05 > 0:21:10"I want to go home to mum and dad and my 25 brothers and sisters.
0:21:10 > 0:21:14"I wish I was just Ordinary Oscar again."
0:21:14 > 0:21:17And just like that, he was home.
0:21:17 > 0:21:21"Where have you been, Oscar?" asked his dad.
0:21:21 > 0:21:24"We've been awfully worried about you."
0:21:24 > 0:21:27"We thought you might have been squashed," said his mum.
0:21:27 > 0:21:31"It's dinner time. I've got some tasty tender leaves just for you."
0:21:31 > 0:21:34"Mmm, my favourite," smiled Oscar.
0:21:34 > 0:21:38"Perhaps being ordinary isn't so bad after all."
0:21:38 > 0:21:41But sometimes, just sometimes,
0:21:41 > 0:21:45even an ordinary snail can do extraordinary things.
0:21:45 > 0:21:50Six weeks later, the Daily Snail - "That's My Boy!"
0:21:50 > 0:21:53by Mike Mollusc, garden correspondent.
0:21:53 > 0:21:57'When Mrs Gertrude Slimeglider fell into some shifting soil,
0:21:57 > 0:21:59'she was overcome by panic.
0:21:59 > 0:22:03'For Gertrude, who is expecting 60 eggs next week, was trapped,

0:22:24 > 0:22:30'"I told Agnes to go and fetch her dad because he was so far away,
0:22:30 > 0:22:32'"I knew he would take a long time."
0:22:32 > 0:22:35'With her husband on the other side of the garden,
0:22:35 > 0:22:39'Gertrude was desperate until clever Oscar came to the rescue.
0:22:39 > 0:22:43'Oscar, a St Mollusc pupil, had gathered all his siblings together.
0:22:43 > 0:22:47'Under his direction, they began to eat the surrounding plants.
0:22:47 > 0:22:51'The brave youngster kept his cool and soon the soil began to shift,
0:22:51 > 0:22:53'allowing Gertrude to escape.
0:22:53 > 0:22:59'"He's a very sensible, caring snail. He knew I was expecting eggs
0:22:59 > 0:23:04'"and I think that made him more aware of the situation. I'm proud,"
0:23:04 > 0:23:09'said Gertrude. "When my husband gets here, I know he'll be proud too,"
0:23:09 > 0:23:11'she added.'

0:23:27 > 0:23:31Well, have sweet dreams and I'll see you soon for another story.
0:23:31 > 0:23:33Night-night.
0:23:33 > 0:23:38I wonder...whether one day, I'll be famous too.
