0:36:11 > 0:36:17OK. You can stay awake for a bedtime story. OK?

0:36:18 > 0:36:20Hello. I'm Lee.

0:36:21 > 0:36:23The toys don't want to go to bed yet,

0:36:23 > 0:36:27so I said they can stay up for one last story.

0:36:27 > 0:36:30So, we need to get ready.

0:36:31 > 0:36:35This story is all about toys who don't want to go to sleep.

0:36:35 > 0:36:38It's by Sean Taylor and Jimmy Liao

0:36:38 > 0:36:42and it's called The World Champion of Staying Awake.

0:36:42 > 0:36:45"Good night, Stella," says Dad.

0:36:45 > 0:36:47"Time to go to bed."

0:36:47 > 0:36:49But how can Stella go to bed?

0:36:49 > 0:36:52She still has Cherry Pig, Thunderbolt the puppet mouse

0:36:52 > 0:36:55and Beanbag Frog to get to sleep.

0:36:55 > 0:36:59"I'm a bit wide awake," snuffles Cherry Pig.

0:36:59 > 0:37:02"I'm a lot wide awake," calls out Thunderbolt.

0:37:02 > 0:37:06Beanbag Frog is worse than wide awake. He's going hoppity-hop.

0:37:06 > 0:37:11"Stoppity-stop," says Stella. "It's time to go to bed."

0:37:11 > 0:37:14"I'm not going to sleep," calls out Thunderbolt.

0:37:14 > 0:37:20"Sleep is too slow," croaks Beanbag Frog.

0:37:20 > 0:37:24"I'm the world champion of staying awake," says Cherry Pig.

0:37:24 > 0:37:28But Stella is good at thinking up ways to get them to sleep.

0:37:28 > 0:37:32She puts them on her pillow.

0:37:32 > 0:37:37"Can you dream the pillow into something?" asks Cherry Pig.

0:37:37 > 0:37:39"Yes," says Stella.

0:37:39 > 0:37:42"It's a ship." And it is.

0:37:42 > 0:37:46The pillow ship rocks, the pillow ship sways,

0:37:46 > 0:37:49the pillow ship sails across the waves.

0:37:49 > 0:37:51In the deep water under the boat,

0:37:51 > 0:37:55jellyfish, sharks and seahorses float.

0:37:55 > 0:37:58But down in the cabin, you'll come to no harm.

0:37:58 > 0:38:01You'll be warm as a cat sleeping inside a barn.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04So snuggle your feet, snuggle your knees

0:38:04 > 0:38:07and let yourself sway over the seas.

0:38:08 > 0:38:11Quietly, Stella checks.

0:38:11 > 0:38:14Cherry Pig is asleep.

0:38:15 > 0:38:20But Beanbag Frog asks, "Is jelly made from jellyfish?"

0:38:20 > 0:38:22And Thunderbolt is calling out,

0:38:22 > 0:38:27"The world champion of staying awake is actually me!"

0:38:28 > 0:38:32"How am I ever going to get you two to sleep?", sighs Stella.

0:38:32 > 0:38:35"With presents, toys

0:38:35 > 0:38:40"and fireworks and spicy-sausage pizza," suggests Thunderbolt.

0:38:40 > 0:38:43"It's not time for anything like that," Stella tells them.

0:38:43 > 0:38:46"It's time to shut your eyes."

0:38:46 > 0:38:50"I've shut my eyes, but my feet are completely woken up,"

0:38:50 > 0:38:53says Beanbag Frog in a very bouncy voice.

0:38:53 > 0:38:56So Stella puts them in her shoebox.

0:38:57 > 0:39:02"Can you dream this box into something?" asks Thunderbolt.

0:39:02 > 0:39:04"Yes," says Stella.

0:39:04 > 0:39:07"It's a train."

0:39:07 > 0:39:11And it is. Outside, the air is cold with rain,

0:39:11 > 0:39:14but it's warm and dry on the midnight train.

0:39:14 > 0:39:17The silver wheels spin around on the track

0:39:17 > 0:39:20on their way over the mountains and back.

0:39:20 > 0:39:23And as it chugs and clatters and steams,

0:39:23 > 0:39:26the train will carry you into your dreams.

0:39:26 > 0:39:29Dreams of long journeys and dinosaur eggs.

0:39:29 > 0:39:33Dreams of white horses with galloping legs.

0:39:34 > 0:39:40"Who's the world champion of staying awake now?" whispers Stella.

0:39:40 > 0:39:42Thunderbolt lifts his head and says,

0:39:42 > 0:39:49"I'm the world champion of... going to sleep."

0:39:49 > 0:39:52And he closes his eyes.

0:39:52 > 0:39:56So that leaves Beanbag Frog. Is he asleep?

0:39:56 > 0:39:58No, he's not.

0:39:58 > 0:40:00He's going hoppity-hop again.

0:40:00 > 0:40:05"How many years is it to my birthday?" he asks Stella.

0:40:05 > 0:40:09"I can't believe you're still awake," she whispers.

0:40:09 > 0:40:13"I can," he says, in his croaky voice.

0:40:13 > 0:40:18"The world champion of staying awake must actually be me."

0:40:18 > 0:40:21So Stella puts him in the toy basket.

0:40:21 > 0:40:27"Can you dream our basket into something?" asks Beanbag Frog.

0:40:27 > 0:40:30"Yes," says Stella.

0:40:30 > 0:40:33"It's a balloon." And it is.

0:40:34 > 0:40:37The starship balloon flies off and away,

0:40:37 > 0:40:40leaving behind the last of today.

0:40:40 > 0:40:44Through the air, as quiet as fallen snow,

0:40:44 > 0:40:46up and up and up you go.

0:40:46 > 0:40:50Up so high that it's best to stop,

0:40:50 > 0:40:52if you feel like going hoppity-hop.

0:40:52 > 0:40:54And what's around you as you rise?

0:40:54 > 0:40:58The sparkling necklaces of the skies.

0:40:59 > 0:41:01Stella checks.

0:41:01 > 0:41:05Beanbag Frog is lying with his head on one arm.

0:41:05 > 0:41:11Not a croak, not a bounce, not a hoppity-hop.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14"They're all fast asleep," she whispers.

0:41:14 > 0:41:17And she tucks them, one by one, into bed.

0:41:18 > 0:41:21So the world champion of staying awake

0:41:21 > 0:41:23must actually be Stella.

0:41:23 > 0:41:26SNORING Or perhaps not.

0:41:28 > 0:41:33And that story was called, The World Champion of Staying Awake.

0:41:33 > 0:41:35SNORING

0:41:37 > 0:41:40I think the CBeebies toys are falling asleep, too.

0:41:41 > 0:41:44I hope you're not the world champion of staying awake.

0:41:44 > 0:41:47It's time for you to go to sleep, too.

0:41:47 > 0:41:51Maybe you can be the world champion of going to sleep instead.

0:41:52 > 0:41:55I'll see you soon for another bedtime story.

0:41:55 > 0:41:57Night-night.

0:41:57 > 0:42:00Now, let me tuck you up into bed.
