0:08:05 > 0:08:10There! Nearly done! Oh, hello. I'm Lulu!

0:08:10 > 0:08:13I'm wrapping another Christmas present.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16This one is for some friends I haven't seen yet.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18I love Christmas time.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22It's so much fun, and I love giving presents to my friends.

0:08:22 > 0:08:26There's a hedgehog in tonight's Bedtime Story

0:08:26 > 0:08:30who is getting ready to make Christmas special for his friends.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32Let me tell you about him.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36The story is by M Christina Butler and Tina Macnaughton,

0:08:36 > 0:08:40and it's called One Christmas Night.

0:08:40 > 0:08:46It was nearly Christmas, and Little Hedgehog just could not wait.

0:08:46 > 0:08:51"Mince pies and Christmas cake - yum, yum!" He laughed.

0:08:51 > 0:08:57"Now I can put up the big shiny star that Badger gave me."

0:08:57 > 0:09:02"Perfect," cried Little Hedgehog as he fixed the star to the tree.

0:09:02 > 0:09:07Then he opened Badger's card. "Oh, how lovely," he said.

0:09:07 > 0:09:11It had a huge glittering Christmas tree on the front.

0:09:11 > 0:09:17"My house isn't Christmassy, and my tree doesn't sparkle," he sighed.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21Just then, ra-ta-tap-tap came at the door.

0:09:21 > 0:09:26"Happy Christmas!" cried Mouse. "Thank you," said Hedgehog.

0:09:26 > 0:09:31"Mouse, I don't know what to do - my house isn't Christmassy."

0:09:31 > 0:09:35"We'll soon fix that," Mouse smiled.

0:09:35 > 0:09:41"We can make pine cones sparkle with glitter," said Mouse.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44"Take cover," cried Little Hedgehog as the cones came down.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48"There's holly for the fireplace," Mouse said.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52"Ouch!" squeaked Little Hedgehog. "It has more prickles than me."

0:09:52 > 0:09:56# Chestnut and acorns and big bowls of berries! #

0:09:56 > 0:09:58they all sang as they marched home.

0:09:58 > 0:10:01They glued and glittered until nuts and acorns

0:10:01 > 0:10:07twinkled like stars, and holly twigs shimmered red, green and gold.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10"Wow!" cried Little Hedgehog.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14"It's like a magic Christmassy cave," said Mouse.

0:10:14 > 0:10:18We have to go. "We haven't wrapped our presents yet."

0:10:18 > 0:10:21"Oh, no," squeaked Little Hedgehog,

0:10:21 > 0:10:28"Presents? I've forgotten to get presents for my friends."

0:10:28 > 0:10:35Little Hedgehog thought hard. I know. I can give this book to Badger.

0:10:35 > 0:10:40I'll make carrot cake for Rabbit and a night-time picture for Fox.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44I can make stockings full of nuts for the little ones,

0:10:44 > 0:10:47chuckled Little Hedgehog.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50He gazed up at the glittering branches

0:10:50 > 0:10:53as snowflakes floated pass his nose.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56And a bunch of twinkly twigs for miles he smiled.

0:10:56 > 0:11:00Little Hedgehog wandered on through the trees,

0:11:00 > 0:11:03looking for the best twigs he could find.

0:11:03 > 0:11:07The wood grew darker, and the snowflakes swirled faster around him.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10"Phew!" he gasped, struggling with the basket.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12"However shall I get home?"

0:11:12 > 0:11:18At last, the snow stopped, and a bright moon peeped above the trees.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21Pale blue shadows flitted here and there

0:11:21 > 0:11:25as Little Hedgehog huffed and puffed through the snow.

0:11:25 > 0:11:30Then, in the stillness, he heard a pat-pat-patting noise

0:11:30 > 0:11:34getting closer and closer until...

0:11:34 > 0:11:36crash!

0:11:36 > 0:11:40"Eek!" yelped Fox bumping into Little Hedgehog.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43"You look like a walking Christmas tree."

0:11:43 > 0:11:48Little Hedgehog and Fox chuckled and chatted all the way home.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51Fox put the presents around the tree.

0:11:51 > 0:11:55"Everything looks lovely," he said.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58But Little Hedgehog was not sure.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01There is still something missing.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05Suddenly, a loud knock came at the door,

0:12:05 > 0:12:09and in walked Badger with Rabbit and the mice.

0:12:09 > 0:12:13"Of course!" squeaked Little Hedgehog clapping his paws,

0:12:13 > 0:12:16"That's what was missing -

0:12:16 > 0:12:22"all of my friends. Happy Christmas, everyone!"

0:12:22 > 0:12:24That was called One Christmas Night.

0:12:24 > 0:12:28I'm glad Little Hedgehog remembered the presents.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31Maybe I could give someone a carrot cake.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34The cake for Rabbit looked delicious.

0:12:34 > 0:12:38While I set to work on that, it's time for you to go to bed

0:12:38 > 0:12:43and dream magical Christmas dreams of sparkly lights and twinkly stars.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47I'll see you soon for another story. Night, night.
