0:16:08 > 0:16:09Hello, I'm Lulu.
0:16:09 > 0:16:13I was just wondering if I need to change my hair. What do you think?
0:16:13 > 0:16:17I can't make up my mind if I should grow it or...
0:16:17 > 0:16:21You know what? There's someone in tonight's bedtime story
0:16:21 > 0:16:25who will know exactly how I should wear my hair. Kittie Lacey.
0:16:25 > 0:16:28She's the best hairdresser in all of Fairyland.
0:16:30 > 0:16:33The story is by Lauren Beard and Abie Longstaff.
0:16:33 > 0:16:36It's called The Fairytale Hairdresser
0:16:36 > 0:16:39or How Rapunzel Got Her Prince.
0:16:40 > 0:16:44Kittie Lacey was the best hairdresser in all the land.
0:16:44 > 0:16:48People came from far, far away to have their hair washed
0:16:48 > 0:16:50and combed and cut and styled.
0:16:50 > 0:16:54It was Kittie who brushed the fairy godmother's long locks till
0:16:54 > 0:16:56they sparkled and glittered.
0:16:56 > 0:17:00She was the one who found the exact shade of crimson to match
0:17:00 > 0:17:02Red Riding Hood's cloak perfectly.
0:17:02 > 0:17:06And if anyone ever needed a beard and sideburns trim,
0:17:06 > 0:17:08they knew just the place to go.
0:17:08 > 0:17:12Sometimes Kittie had very difficult cases to deal with.
0:17:12 > 0:17:17There were tall customers, tiny customers, some very fussy ones.
0:17:17 > 0:17:19Too curly.
0:17:19 > 0:17:20Too straight.
0:17:20 > 0:17:22Too high.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24Too low.
0:17:24 > 0:17:26Just right.
0:17:26 > 0:17:29She was often called out to visit reclusive clients
0:17:29 > 0:17:32in very unusual places.
0:17:33 > 0:17:36Indeed, Kittie was such a good hairdresser,
0:17:36 > 0:17:40she was sure there was no hair she couldn't fix.
0:17:40 > 0:17:46Then, one Saturday, she got her most difficult case of all.
0:17:47 > 0:17:52Up in a high, high tower was a witch with a very big problem.
0:17:52 > 0:17:57Kittie gulped nervously and rang the bell.
0:17:57 > 0:18:01The door creaked open and a golden river of hair flowed out.
0:18:01 > 0:18:06"All this hair is taking over my tower!" screeched the witch.
0:18:06 > 0:18:09"I can't see a thing, it's affecting my work.
0:18:09 > 0:18:11"I can't make any evil potions
0:18:11 > 0:18:15"and I'm sure I've lost my glasses in there somewhere."
0:18:15 > 0:18:18Kittie had never seen so much hair.
0:18:18 > 0:18:21It was all tangled and messy and frizzy
0:18:21 > 0:18:24and some of the knots were the size of her fist.
0:18:24 > 0:18:27Was there even a person underneath all that?
0:18:27 > 0:18:31Kittie took a deep breath and picked up her comb.
0:18:31 > 0:18:34Bit by bit, she parted the hair,
0:18:34 > 0:18:37until at the centre she found a girl.
0:18:37 > 0:18:40"I'm Rapunzel," said the girl.
0:18:40 > 0:18:45"Thank goodness you came. I'm having a really bad hair day."
0:18:45 > 0:18:48Kittie smiled. "Don't worry, love.
0:18:48 > 0:18:51"We'll have you looking gorgeous in no time."
0:18:51 > 0:18:55Kittie gathered the hair from all over the tower into a neat pile.
0:18:55 > 0:18:59She sprayed every inch with conditioner.
0:18:59 > 0:19:03Then she combed through the knots and trimmed the ends.
0:19:03 > 0:19:06"Ah, that's much better!" cackled the witch.
0:19:06 > 0:19:10"Now I can get on with all my evil spells.
0:19:10 > 0:19:14"I need to make a poison apple, a gingerbread house and a spindle.
0:19:14 > 0:19:18"But first, first, I have to find a potion to make Kittie forget
0:19:18 > 0:19:21"she was ever here."
0:19:21 > 0:19:27After a whole day of hard work, Rapunzel's hair shimmered.
0:19:27 > 0:19:30It rippled down her back, across the tower floor
0:19:30 > 0:19:33and curled into a beautiful pile in the corner.
0:19:33 > 0:19:36Rapunzel loved her new hair.
0:19:36 > 0:19:39"It's so soft!" she said.
0:19:39 > 0:19:44"But, Kittie, the witch will never let you leave."
0:19:44 > 0:19:48"Don't worry," said Kittie, "I have a plan."
0:19:49 > 0:19:53Kittie took three heavy bundles of hair and began to plait.
0:19:53 > 0:19:58Then she went to Rapunzel and threw the long plait out of the window.
0:19:58 > 0:20:03Meanwhile, in the valley below, a handsome prince was riding by
0:20:03 > 0:20:08when he saw something very unusual lying on the grass.
0:20:08 > 0:20:12The prince followed the plait all the way to the tower and,
0:20:12 > 0:20:16to his amazement, there he saw a beautiful girl
0:20:16 > 0:20:19leaning out of the highest window.
0:20:19 > 0:20:26She had the longest, softest, silkiest hair he had ever seen.
0:20:26 > 0:20:30"Hello!" said Kittie, climbing down the plait.
0:20:30 > 0:20:34"I'm Kittie and that is my friend Rapunzel."
0:20:34 > 0:20:39"Oh, Rapunzel!" swooned the prince, gazing up at the window.
0:20:40 > 0:20:43"Oh," sighed Rapunzel.
0:20:43 > 0:20:47He really was a very handsome prince.
0:20:47 > 0:20:51Just then, there was a terrible screech.
0:20:51 > 0:20:53"Help!" cried Rapunzel.
0:20:53 > 0:20:56"The witch is coming."
0:20:56 > 0:21:00"Jump, my love," shouted the prince. And he held out his arms.
0:21:00 > 0:21:04Rapunzel jumped and fell all the way down, down, down, down
0:21:04 > 0:21:07into the arms of her prince.
0:21:08 > 0:21:14The next day, the witch had a very different sort of visitor.
0:21:14 > 0:21:20And she soon found it was her turn to be locked away.
0:21:20 > 0:21:24Of course, Rapunzel and the prince were married.
0:21:24 > 0:21:28It was the wedding event of the year. Everyone was there.
0:21:28 > 0:21:32And guess who was invited to do the bride's hair.
0:21:32 > 0:21:37Kittie Lacey, the best hairdresser in the land.
0:21:37 > 0:21:39That was called The Fairytale Hairdresser
0:21:39 > 0:21:42or How Rapunzel Got Her Prince.
0:21:42 > 0:21:46Imagine what it would be like to have hair as long as Rapunzel's.
0:21:46 > 0:21:49It would stretch a very, very long way.
0:21:49 > 0:21:53Now, are you ready for bed? Have you brushed your teeth?
0:21:53 > 0:21:55Washed your face?
0:21:55 > 0:21:59Have you brushed your hair until it shines like Rapunzel's? Oh, good.
0:21:59 > 0:22:03Well, it's time for you to go to bed and for me to say,
0:22:03 > 0:22:07goodnight, sweet dreams, I'll see you for another bedtime story.
0:22:07 > 0:22:09Night-night.
