0:00:08 > 0:00:12Hello. I'm Dan. You just caught me. I've been naughty.
0:00:12 > 0:00:16I'm sitting on the CBeebies naughty step with Mr Robot.
0:00:16 > 0:00:18It's not nice being in trouble.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21I hope you've not been on the naughty step today.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24I've got a friend who went on the naughty step.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27I'll tell you about him in the bedtime story.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30It's by Mark Sperring and Tom McLaughlin.
0:00:30 > 0:00:34It's called, Captain Buckleboots On The Naughty Step.
0:00:34 > 0:00:35This is Sam.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38And this is the naughty step.
0:00:38 > 0:00:42The naughty step is right at the bottom of the stairs.
0:00:42 > 0:00:46It's the place Sam has to sit if he ever behaves badly.
0:00:46 > 0:00:50When Sam sits there, he can't look at a book or play with a toy.
0:00:50 > 0:00:54All he can do is think and think and think
0:00:54 > 0:00:57about the naughty thing he has done.
0:00:57 > 0:01:01No-one else in the house has to sit on the naughty step.
0:01:01 > 0:01:05When Rover is naughty, he has to go to his basket.
0:01:05 > 0:01:09When Nellie is naughty, she has to go to her room.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13And when Dad is naughty, he has to sleep on the sofa.
0:01:13 > 0:01:18So Sam always had the naughty step to himself until one day,
0:01:18 > 0:01:23with a loud creak, someone else appeared.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26"Who are you?" asked Sam,
0:01:26 > 0:01:30looking up at the shame-faced pirate who sat down beside him.
0:01:30 > 0:01:33"I'm Captain Buckleboots," he replied.
0:01:33 > 0:01:37"In case you're wondering why I'm here, I've been naughty.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40"Very, very naughty."
0:01:40 > 0:01:43"Oh, dear," said Sam, "so have I."
0:01:43 > 0:01:48Then the naughty step gave another creak.
0:01:48 > 0:01:51"Jumping jellyfish," cried Captain Buckleboots.
0:01:51 > 0:01:53"What's he doing here?"
0:01:53 > 0:01:56"Have you been naughty too?"
0:01:56 > 0:01:59Sam asked a little monster who sat down to join them.
0:01:59 > 0:02:04Before the monster could answer, the step gave two more creaks.
0:02:04 > 0:02:08And with a swish of a spacesuit and the clunk of armour,
0:02:08 > 0:02:12down sat an astronaut, and down sat a knight.
0:02:12 > 0:02:16The naughty step was fuller than it had ever been before.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19There they sat with nothing else to do
0:02:19 > 0:02:22but think about the naughty things they'd done.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25"I flew off in a rage," admitted the astronaut.
0:02:25 > 0:02:30"I was caught fighting, again," confessed the knight.
0:02:30 > 0:02:35"I behaved like a little monster," said the little monster. "Grr!"
0:02:35 > 0:02:39"How about you, Captain Buckleboots? What did you do?"
0:02:39 > 0:02:40"Oh, dear, oh, dear.
0:02:40 > 0:02:43"I behaved worse than the lot of you put together,"
0:02:43 > 0:02:45blushed Captain Buckleboots.
0:02:45 > 0:02:49"First, I picked on a pirate smaller than me."
0:02:49 > 0:02:52"That's bad," said the astronaut.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55"Then I took something that wasn't mine."
0:02:55 > 0:02:57"That's awful," said the knight.
0:02:57 > 0:03:02"Then I buried it in a place where he'd never be able to find it."
0:03:02 > 0:03:06"How monstrous," said the monster.
0:03:06 > 0:03:10"And worst of all, when I was asked where it was,
0:03:10 > 0:03:13"I said I didn't know."
0:03:13 > 0:03:17"Oh, dear," said Sam. "You've been very naughty."
0:03:17 > 0:03:22"I know," sighed Captain Buckleboots.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24"How will I ever be forgiven?"
0:03:24 > 0:03:27"Well," said the astronaut.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30"When I get off the naughty step,
0:03:30 > 0:03:33"I'll give everyone a big hug and say I'm sorry."
0:03:33 > 0:03:36"When I get off the naughty step," said the knight,
0:03:36 > 0:03:40"I'm going to promise not to fight any more."
0:03:40 > 0:03:44"When I get off the naughty step, I'm going to be sweet and lovely
0:03:44 > 0:03:46"and not grr so much," said the monster.
0:03:46 > 0:03:50Captain Buckleboots thought hard for a moment.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52"Because I've behaved so badly," he said,
0:03:52 > 0:03:56"I'll need to do something special to be forgiven."
0:03:56 > 0:04:01"Well," said Sam, "you could write a sorry note."
0:04:01 > 0:04:05"Jumping jellyfish," exclaimed Captain Buckleboots,
0:04:05 > 0:04:08"what a jolly good idea!"
0:04:08 > 0:04:11"You can get off the naughty step," Sam's mum called.
0:04:11 > 0:04:14"Goodbye, Sammy," said Captain Buckleboots.
0:04:14 > 0:04:18"I'm off to deliver this very important letter.
0:04:18 > 0:04:20"Do you think I'll be forgiven?"
0:04:20 > 0:04:22"Of course," said Sam.
0:04:22 > 0:04:26"If you really mean it when you say you're sorry,
0:04:26 > 0:04:28"you're sure to be forgiven."
0:04:28 > 0:04:32And jumping jellyfish, Sam was right.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34Dear someone smaller than me,
0:04:34 > 0:04:37this is where I buried your treasure.
0:04:37 > 0:04:40Sorry, sorry, sorry!
0:04:40 > 0:04:43Best wishes, Captain Buckleboots.
0:04:43 > 0:04:46PS - If you need some help digging it up,
0:04:46 > 0:04:50me and my friend Sam would be happy to help.
0:04:50 > 0:04:54So at the end of a busy day on the naughty step,
0:04:54 > 0:04:59it was time for Sam to write a very important letter of his own.
0:04:59 > 0:05:04Because he really, really meant it, he was sure he'd be forgiven.
0:05:04 > 0:05:09That's the story of Captain Buckleboots On The Naughty Step.
0:05:09 > 0:05:13Let's have a look. I've done my time on the naughty step for today.
0:05:13 > 0:05:18I don't fancy sitting on here again, so best behaviour from now on.
0:05:18 > 0:05:22You'll see me again soon, but not sat here. Good night.
