0:31:09 > 0:31:12Oh, hello. I'm Matthew.

0:31:12 > 0:31:17I'm trying to decide which shoes to wear tomorrow morning.

0:31:17 > 0:31:20What will I be doing? I think I'll decide later.

0:31:20 > 0:31:23But all these shoes remind me of someone else

0:31:23 > 0:31:26who tries to find the perfect pair.

0:31:26 > 0:31:28Let me tell you all about him.

0:31:28 > 0:31:31The story is called Dog In Boots,

0:31:31 > 0:31:34and is by Greg Gormley and Roberta Angaramo.

0:31:35 > 0:31:40Dog was reading a brilliant book all about a cat

0:31:40 > 0:31:43who wore a pair of truly magnificent boots.

0:31:43 > 0:31:47When he finished reading Dog put down his book

0:31:47 > 0:31:49and had a little think.

0:31:49 > 0:31:51Then he went to the local shoe shop.

0:31:51 > 0:31:53BELL RINGS

0:31:53 > 0:31:56"Have you got any footwear as splendid as this?"

0:31:56 > 0:31:59he said, showing the book to the shopkeeper.

0:31:59 > 0:32:02"I believe I have," said the shopkeeper,

0:32:02 > 0:32:05and brought out four just as splendid boots,

0:32:05 > 0:32:08one for each of Dog's paws.

0:32:08 > 0:32:11"Bow-wow!" said Dog, "I'll take them."

0:32:11 > 0:32:15Dog was so pleased that he went straight home

0:32:15 > 0:32:17to dig up his very best bone.

0:32:19 > 0:32:24But the new boots were not at all splendid or magnificent for digging,

0:32:24 > 0:32:28and they got so muddy that they looked quite awful.

0:32:31 > 0:32:35So Dog took them back to the shop.

0:32:35 > 0:32:38"Have you got some that are better for digging?" he asked.

0:32:38 > 0:32:42"I have just the thing," said the shopkeeper.

0:32:42 > 0:32:46"These wellie boots are perfect in mud. It simply washes right off."

0:32:48 > 0:32:52The wellie boots were wonderful for digging.

0:32:52 > 0:32:54But when Dog went for a swim in the pond,

0:32:54 > 0:32:57they filled up with water

0:32:57 > 0:32:59and he sank with a plop.

0:32:59 > 0:33:01PLOP

0:33:01 > 0:33:03Dog took them back to the shop.

0:33:03 > 0:33:08"Have you got some that are better for swimming?" He asked.

0:33:08 > 0:33:14"The best thing for swimming," the shopkeeper said, "is flippers."

0:33:14 > 0:33:17The flippers were fantastic for swimming.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19But when Dog tried to scratch

0:33:19 > 0:33:25they flip-flap-flopped around his head in a very unsatisfying way.

0:33:25 > 0:33:27Dog took them back to the shop.

0:33:28 > 0:33:33"Have you got some that are better for scratching?" he said.

0:33:33 > 0:33:36"I'm glad you asked," said the shopkeeper.

0:33:36 > 0:33:39"With these high heels, you can scratch

0:33:39 > 0:33:42"and look rather fashionable at the same time."

0:33:42 > 0:33:47For scratching behind Dog's ears, the high heels were simply divine.

0:33:47 > 0:33:51Unfortunately, they were dreadful to run in.

0:33:51 > 0:33:54He went flying, head over high heels.

0:33:54 > 0:33:58Dog took them back to the shop.

0:33:58 > 0:34:02"Have you got some that go a bit faster?" He asked.

0:34:02 > 0:34:05"Oh, yes," said the shopkeeper.

0:34:05 > 0:34:11"If you want to go super-fast, try skis. They go very fast indeed."

0:34:11 > 0:34:14"I'll take them!" said Dog. And he was gone

0:34:14 > 0:34:18before the shopkeeper could say, "But only on snow!"

0:34:18 > 0:34:22Without any snow, Dog's skis didn't move at all.

0:34:22 > 0:34:27He couldn't run or scratch or swim or dig.

0:34:27 > 0:34:33On his way back to the shop, Dog had another little think.

0:34:35 > 0:34:39"OK," he said to the shopkeeper, "I want something that's

0:34:39 > 0:34:44"good for digging, and swimming and stretching and running.

0:34:44 > 0:34:49"Oh, and nice and furry, too. Do you have anything like that?"

0:34:49 > 0:34:57"No," said the shopkeeper. "But you do. They're called paws!"

0:34:57 > 0:34:58WOOF

0:34:58 > 0:35:01"Perfect!" said Dog.

0:35:01 > 0:35:06Dog was so pleased with his nice, furry, practical paws,

0:35:06 > 0:35:12that he scratched all the fleas from his coat, ran after his tail,

0:35:12 > 0:35:16swam round and round the Queen's lake until she told him

0:35:16 > 0:35:21to clear off, and dug a big hole to re-bury his very best bone.

0:35:21 > 0:35:27Finally, Dog went home and picked out another brilliant book to read.

0:35:27 > 0:35:32This time it was about a girl who didn't wear any rubbish boots,

0:35:32 > 0:35:34but did wear...

0:35:34 > 0:35:37A lovely red hood.

0:35:37 > 0:35:40"Hmm," thought Dog.

0:35:41 > 0:35:46And that story was called Dog In Boots. I hope you enjoyed it.

0:35:46 > 0:35:51Now it's time for you to go to bed. I'll see you soon. Night-night.
