0:00:32 > 0:00:38It was Christmas Eve. Big Mouse was making cheese pies.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45"Happy Christmas to us! Happy Christmas to us!"
0:00:45 > 0:00:46sang Little Mouse.
0:00:46 > 0:00:51"Big Mouse, can I decorate the Christmas tree now, can I? Can I?"
0:00:51 > 0:00:54"We'll do it together," said Big Mouse.
0:00:54 > 0:00:59Little Mouse hung golden acorns and mistletoe berries on the tree.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02Big Mouse put a star on the top.
0:01:02 > 0:01:06"But we've forgotten the holly!" cried Little Mouse.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08"I'll go and get some."
0:01:08 > 0:01:10And off he rushed.
0:01:10 > 0:01:15"Mind it has nice red berries!" called Big Mouse.
0:01:15 > 0:01:18Little Mouse set off down the path singing.
0:01:18 > 0:01:24"Jolly holly, holly jolly, jolly holly Christmas!"
0:01:24 > 0:01:27But there was no holly to be seen on the first corner.
0:01:27 > 0:01:30And no holly on the second corner.
0:01:30 > 0:01:33And no holly on the third corner.
0:01:33 > 0:01:36Over the bridge ran Little Mouse,
0:01:36 > 0:01:41and at last he found a holly bush with shiny, red berries.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43He jumped up and down with excitement.
0:01:43 > 0:01:48"Oh, jolly holly, holly jolly, jolly holly Christmas!"
0:01:48 > 0:01:53sang Little Mouse, stretching high on his toes to reach some.
0:01:53 > 0:02:00But suddenly, soft, white flakes began falling all around him.
0:02:00 > 0:02:04One flake fell on Little Mouse's nose and made him sneeze.
0:02:04 > 0:02:10"A-choo! Goodness me!" said Little Mouse. "The sky is coming undone!"
0:02:10 > 0:02:13Little Mouse began to hurry home.
0:02:13 > 0:02:18Lots more pieces of sky were falling on him. Faster and faster they fell.
0:02:18 > 0:02:21They fell on his ears and his whiskers and his tail.
0:02:21 > 0:02:24"Oh, oh, dear! Oh, dear!" said Little Mouse.
0:02:24 > 0:02:28"I'd better take some of this to show Big Mouse.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31"He'll know how to stitch the sky together again."
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Little Mouse made a ball of white flakes
0:02:34 > 0:02:36and put it in his bucket.
0:02:36 > 0:02:41Back over the bridge he hurried and suddenly...
0:02:41 > 0:02:45he saw a strange creature in the water making faces at him.
0:02:45 > 0:02:48It had lots of ears and a squiffy face
0:02:48 > 0:02:52and it waved its arms at Little Mouse.
0:02:52 > 0:02:56"Oh!" squeaked Little Mouse. "It's a Mouse Ness Monster!"
0:02:56 > 0:02:59And he fell on his bottom.
0:02:59 > 0:03:04"Oh! I wish Big Mouse was here," he cried, scrambling up.
0:03:04 > 0:03:08Back down the path ran Little Mouse, looking over his shoulder to see
0:03:08 > 0:03:12if the Mouse Ness Monster was following him.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15It wasn't, but something was.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Little Mouse could see its paw prints coming after him.
0:03:19 > 0:03:23"Oh! Oh, help! Oh!" squeaked Little Mouse.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26"Now there's an invisible monster chasing me!"
0:03:26 > 0:03:31Little Mouse ran up and down, round and round in circles to escape,
0:03:31 > 0:03:34but the paw prints of the invisible monster
0:03:34 > 0:03:37went up and down and round and round after him.
0:03:37 > 0:03:39Little Mouse ran and ran.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42Faster and faster whirled the white flakes
0:03:42 > 0:03:45and faster and faster ran Little Mouse.
0:03:45 > 0:03:49And still the invisible monster followed him.
0:03:49 > 0:03:53At last, Little Mouse saw his house.
0:03:53 > 0:03:58But there, in the garden, was a huge, white mouse.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01"Oh, no, no, no!" squeaked Little Mouse.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04"Another monster waiting to catch me!"
0:04:04 > 0:04:08Little Mouse trembled and began to cry.
0:04:08 > 0:04:11But then, the front door opened...
0:04:11 > 0:04:13and there was Big Mouse.
0:04:13 > 0:04:16Little Mouse leapt into Big Mouse's arms.
0:04:16 > 0:04:19"Oh! Big Mouse, Big Mouse!" he cried.
0:04:19 > 0:04:22"The sky has come undone, and look!"
0:04:22 > 0:04:24he wailed, pointing to the paw prints.
0:04:24 > 0:04:27"An invisible monster followed me,
0:04:27 > 0:04:31"there was a terrible Mouse Ness Monster in the water,
0:04:31 > 0:04:34"and now that scary white mouse is staring at me!"
0:04:34 > 0:04:37"Oh, Little Mouse!" said Big Mouse.
0:04:37 > 0:04:42"The sky hasn't come undone. It's snowing!
0:04:42 > 0:04:45"There aren't any invisible monsters.
0:04:45 > 0:04:47"Those are YOUR paw prints.
0:04:47 > 0:04:51"The Mouse Ness Monster was your reflection in the water.
0:04:51 > 0:04:53"Look!"
0:04:53 > 0:04:57And Big Mouse showed Little Mouse his face in a puddle.
0:04:57 > 0:05:02"This is a snow mouse I made to welcome you home," he said.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05"Let's make another."
0:05:05 > 0:05:07And so they did.
0:05:07 > 0:05:11"Snow is magic!" cried Little Mouse.
0:05:11 > 0:05:13"Yes," said Big Mouse.
0:05:13 > 0:05:16"Father Christmas likes snow, too."
0:05:16 > 0:05:19Little Mouse jumped up and down.
0:05:19 > 0:05:23"Will he be here soon? Can I hang up my stocking now?"
0:05:23 > 0:05:26"You can!" said Big Mouse.
0:05:26 > 0:05:28"Let's go and get warm first."
0:05:28 > 0:05:32So in they went and warmed their paws by the fire.
0:05:32 > 0:05:35Little Mouse hung up his stocking,
0:05:35 > 0:05:39and Big Mouse hung up his stocking, too.
0:05:39 > 0:05:42The holly berries shone in the firelight.
0:05:42 > 0:05:46"It's almost Christmas!" said Little Mouse.
0:05:46 > 0:05:51"Happy jolly, jolly holly Christmas!"
0:05:51 > 0:05:53And he wiggled his warm toes.
