0:00:13 > 0:00:14HE CHUCKLES

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Jack in tonight's bedtime story goes on a big adventure

0:00:17 > 0:00:19on a shiny new tractor.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21The story is called Jack's Tractor,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24and it's by Thomas Taylor and John Kelly.

0:00:25 > 0:00:26Here's Jack.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28His tractor's big and red.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30His trailer's fixed behind.

0:00:30 > 0:00:34"I'm going for a ride," he said, "to see what I can find!"

0:00:34 > 0:00:36"Brum, brum, brum..."

0:00:36 > 0:00:39He held the wheel, he shook the ground,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41he roared the engine's noise.

0:00:41 > 0:00:46It's just the sort of noisy sound that pleases little boys.

0:00:46 > 0:00:51He drove the tractor to a farm and horrified the hens.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55The sheep all bleated in alarm, the pigs broke from their pens.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57"Brum-brum!"

0:00:57 > 0:01:01And then he heard a silly sound, a honk all wild and wonky.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Reversing gear, he backed around,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05and loaded up a donkey!

0:01:05 > 0:01:08"Ee-haw! Ee-haw!"

0:01:08 > 0:01:12He drove the tractor through the zoo and scattered the giraffes.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14The grizzly bears were scared off, too,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17though monkeys got their laughs.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19"Squawk!"

0:01:19 > 0:01:22But when he heard the parrot shriek, Jack knew just what to do.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26He caught him by his orange beak and loaded him up, too!

0:01:26 > 0:01:28"Ee-haw!" "Brum-brum!"

0:01:28 > 0:01:32He drove that tractor to a swamp, a prehistoric glade.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35"Squawk!" "Ee-haw!" "Brum-brum!"

0:01:35 > 0:01:39He made the giant monsters stomp with all the noise he made,

0:01:39 > 0:01:43then suddenly, a beast jumped out - a wriggly ticklesore.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47He tickled Jack, Jack tickled him, then shut the trailer door.

0:01:47 > 0:01:52He drove his tractor to the plains, where lions growled and roared.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56He had to drive it very fast to get a lion on board.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57"Grrrr!"

0:01:57 > 0:01:59"Raaaar!"

0:01:59 > 0:02:04Then in Antarctic icy wastes, he heard a walrus bellow.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08He slid the tractor to a stop to load the splendid fellow.

0:02:08 > 0:02:14"Grr-rrrrr" "Squawk!" "Ee-haw!" "Tickle-pickle!"

0:02:14 > 0:02:16"Brum-brum!"

0:02:16 > 0:02:20By now, the tractor creaked and groaned with all this noisy weight,

0:02:20 > 0:02:25so Jack turned round to head off home before it got too late.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29But as the sun went quickly down, and darkness closed the day,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Jack stopped the tractor, looked around -

0:02:32 > 0:02:34"I do not know the way!"

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Then suddenly, out jumped a mouse - "I know just what to do...

0:02:37 > 0:02:40"I'll lead you straight back to your house -

0:02:40 > 0:02:42"all day I've followed you!

0:02:42 > 0:02:44"But listen, now that night has come,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47"you mustn't make such noise.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49"It's bedtime now, we need our sleep,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52"yes, even little boys."

0:02:52 > 0:02:55They drove back through the icy wastes,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57where Walrus was quite quiet.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59"Mmmmmmm..."

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Then over the plains they ranged again,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04but Lion made no riot.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07"Grrrrrr..."

0:03:07 > 0:03:11And as they crossed the boggy swamp, the ticklesore just waved.

0:03:11 > 0:03:12"Shhhhhh..."

0:03:12 > 0:03:17The parrot, and the donkey, too, were very well behaved.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19"Squawk!" "Ee-haw!"

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Till in the end, they came back home.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25"Now, what a noisy day.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28"And thank you, Mouse, for helping out,

0:03:28 > 0:03:29"and showing us the way.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33"And though you don't go "Brum!" or bray or squawk or growl or roar,

0:03:33 > 0:03:36"your little squeak has saved the day,"

0:03:36 > 0:03:40said Jack, and Mouse said, "Snore!"

0:03:41 > 0:03:44And that story was called Jack's Tractor.

0:03:44 > 0:03:49Jack went to some very exciting places on his tractor, didn't he?

0:03:49 > 0:03:51What an amazing adventure he had!

0:03:51 > 0:03:58Now, it's time for you to say "Snore!" just like the mouse.

0:03:58 > 0:04:03Yes, it's time to settle down and have a good night's sleep,

0:04:03 > 0:04:05so that you can go on more adventures tomorrow.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09I'll see you soon for another bedtime story.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11HE SNORES

0:04:11 > 0:04:12Goodnight.
