0:31:16 > 0:31:18Have you had your tea yet?
0:31:18 > 0:31:20You have?
0:31:20 > 0:31:24Sophie, in tonight's bedtime story, is having her tea
0:31:24 > 0:31:27when a very unusual guest arrives.
0:31:27 > 0:31:33The story is called The Tiger Who Came To Tea, and it's by Judith Kerr.
0:31:35 > 0:31:38Once there was a little girl called Sophie.
0:31:38 > 0:31:41She was having tea with her mummy in the kitchen.
0:31:41 > 0:31:44Suddenly, there was a ring at the door.
0:31:44 > 0:31:48Sophie's mummy said, "I wonder who that can be.
0:31:48 > 0:31:52"It can't be the milkman, because he came this morning.
0:31:52 > 0:31:56"It can't be the boy from the grocer, because this isn't the day he comes.
0:31:56 > 0:32:01"It can't be Daddy, because he has got his key.
0:32:01 > 0:32:03"We had better open the door and see."
0:32:04 > 0:32:11Sophie opened the door, and there was a big, furry, stripy tiger.
0:32:13 > 0:32:18The tiger said, "Excuse me, but I'm very hungry.
0:32:18 > 0:32:21"Do you think I could have tea with you?"
0:32:21 > 0:32:25Sophie's mummy said, "Of course. Come in."
0:32:25 > 0:32:31So the tiger came into the kitchen and sat down at the table.
0:32:31 > 0:32:35Sophie's mummy said, "Would you like a sandwich?"
0:32:35 > 0:32:39But the tiger didn't just take one sandwich, he took all
0:32:39 > 0:32:44the sandwiches on the plate and swallowed them in one big mouthful.
0:32:44 > 0:32:45Gulp!
0:32:45 > 0:32:47And he still looked hungry.
0:32:47 > 0:32:50So Sophie passed him the buns.
0:32:50 > 0:32:54But again, the tiger didn't eat just one bun,
0:32:54 > 0:32:58he ate all the buns on the dish.
0:32:58 > 0:33:01In then he ate all the biscuits and all the cake,
0:33:01 > 0:33:04until there was nothing left to eat on the table.
0:33:04 > 0:33:08So Sophie's mummy said, "Would you like a drink?"
0:33:08 > 0:33:09The tiger drank
0:33:09 > 0:33:12all the milk in the milk jug
0:33:12 > 0:33:14and all the tea in the teapot.
0:33:14 > 0:33:18And then, he looked round the kitchen,
0:33:18 > 0:33:21to see what else he could find.
0:33:21 > 0:33:25He ate all the supper that was cooking in the saucepans,
0:33:25 > 0:33:28all the food in the fridge,
0:33:28 > 0:33:33and all the packets and tins in the cupboard.
0:33:33 > 0:33:36And he drank all the milk and all the orange juice
0:33:36 > 0:33:38and all Daddy's beer.
0:33:38 > 0:33:40And all the water in the tap.
0:33:40 > 0:33:42Then he said,
0:33:42 > 0:33:44"Thank you for my nice tea,
0:33:44 > 0:33:47"I think I had better go now."
0:33:48 > 0:33:50And he went.
0:33:50 > 0:33:53Sophie's mummy said, "I don't know what to do.
0:33:53 > 0:33:58"I have got nothing for Daddy's supper. The tiger has eaten it all."
0:33:58 > 0:34:01And Sophie found she couldn't have a bath,
0:34:01 > 0:34:05because the tiger had drunk all the water in the tap.
0:34:05 > 0:34:09Just then, Sophie's daddy came home.
0:34:09 > 0:34:12So Sophie and her mummy told him what had happened
0:34:12 > 0:34:17and how the tiger had eaten all the food and drunk all the drink.
0:34:17 > 0:34:23Sophie's daddy said, "I know what we'll do. I've got a very good idea.
0:34:23 > 0:34:26"We will put on our coats and go to a cafe."
0:34:27 > 0:34:31So they went out into the dark, and all the streetlamps were lit,
0:34:31 > 0:34:34and all the cars had their lights on.
0:34:34 > 0:34:38And they walked down the road to the cafe.
0:34:38 > 0:34:45And they had a lovely supper, with sausages and chips and ice cream.
0:34:45 > 0:34:49In the morning, Sophie and her mummy went shopping
0:34:49 > 0:34:52and they bought lots more things to eat.
0:34:52 > 0:34:57They also bought a very big tin of tiger food,
0:34:57 > 0:35:01in case the tiger should come to tea again.
0:35:01 > 0:35:02But he never did.
0:35:02 > 0:35:04HE BLOWS THE TRUMPET
0:35:04 > 0:35:08And that story was called The Tiger Who Came To Tea.
