0:14:15 > 0:14:18with plenty of room to give Meg lots of exercise.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21In tonight's story, Jed dreams of finding

0:14:21 > 0:14:23the perfect place to live.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26The story is called A New Home For A Pirate.

0:14:26 > 0:14:30Jed was a pirate, but he didn't enjoy it.

0:14:30 > 0:14:35It was a tight squeeze on the ship and it was always bobbing about.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37Every day Jed was seasick.

0:14:37 > 0:14:41Every night Jed dreamt of a house that stood still.

0:14:41 > 0:14:45One morning, Jed announced he was leaving.

0:14:45 > 0:14:49"I want a house that stands still, with a view from a hill,

0:14:49 > 0:14:52"and a roof that's blue like the sky.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55"When I've found it, you can all come and stay."

0:14:55 > 0:15:00"Splice the mainbrace!" exclaimed his mum and dad.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02He was the first landlubber in his family.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05But they saw he'd made up his mind,

0:15:05 > 0:15:07and they liked the bit about visiting.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11Jed packed his pirate paraphernalia in an old trunk.

0:15:11 > 0:15:15One long rope, one pirate hat, clean underpants,

0:15:15 > 0:15:19Great-Granddad's wooden leg, one parrot - stuffed,

0:15:19 > 0:15:25a cutlass, one spotted handkerchief, an eye-patch, socks, pyjamas

0:15:25 > 0:15:26and a toothbrush.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30"Cheerio-ho!" called Jed, as he cycled away.

0:15:30 > 0:15:34He came to a forest. A bird was squawking.

0:15:34 > 0:15:38"Please can you help? My nest is a mess!"

0:15:38 > 0:15:40Jed scratched his head.

0:15:40 > 0:15:44"Shiver me timbers!" he exclaimed. "I've got the very thing!"

0:15:44 > 0:15:49He took out his pirate hat and the nest fitted perfectly.

0:15:49 > 0:15:54"Ooh! Thank you!" said Bird. "You're very kind for a pirate!"

0:15:54 > 0:15:57"I'm not a pirate any more," said Jed.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59"I'm looking for a new home.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03"I want a house that stands still with a view from a hill

0:16:05 > 0:16:08"Oh, will that be a tree?" asked Bird.

0:16:08 > 0:16:13"Of course!" said Jed. "Come with me, we'll look for a home together."

0:16:13 > 0:16:18They came to a field. A sheep was baa-ing loudly.

0:16:18 > 0:16:23"Please can you help? I'm tangled in brambles!"

0:16:23 > 0:16:27Jed scratched his head. "Shiver me timbers!" he exclaimed.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29"I've got the very thing!"

0:16:29 > 0:16:33He took his cutlass and sliced the sheep free.

0:16:33 > 0:16:39"Ooh, thank you!" she said. "You're very kind for a pirate."

0:16:39 > 0:16:43"I'm not a pirate any more," said Jed, "I'm looking for a new home.

0:16:43 > 0:16:47"I want a house that stands still with a view from a hill,

0:16:47 > 0:16:51"a roof that's blue like the sky, a stretching high tree..."

0:16:51 > 0:16:55"Will there be a grassy field?" asked Sheep.

0:16:55 > 0:17:01"Of course!" said Jed. "Come with us, we'll look for a home together."

0:17:01 > 0:17:03They came to a high bank.

0:17:03 > 0:17:06An old dog lay whimpering.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10"Oh! Please can you help - I've broken me leg!"

0:17:10 > 0:17:15Jed scratched his head. "Shiver me timbers!" he exclaimed,

0:17:15 > 0:17:17"I've got the very thing!"

0:17:17 > 0:17:20Jed took out his Great-Granddad's wooden leg

0:17:20 > 0:17:23and tied it on with the spotted handkerchief.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25"Thank you!" said the old dog.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27"You're very kind for a pirate!"

0:17:27 > 0:17:31"I'm not a pirate any more!" explained Jed.

0:17:31 > 0:17:35"I'm looking for a new home. I want a house that stands still

0:17:35 > 0:17:39"with a view from a hill and a roof that's blue like the sky,

0:17:39 > 0:17:43"with a stretching high tree, and a field, bramble free."

0:17:43 > 0:17:48"Oh, well there be a doormat?" asked the old dog.

0:17:48 > 0:17:53"Of course," said Jed. "Come with us, we'll look for a home together."

0:17:53 > 0:17:58They came to an open gate. A red bull was tossing his horns.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02"I wanna chase you!" he roared.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Jed scratched his head.

0:18:04 > 0:18:09"Ah! Shiver me timbers!" he said. "Luckily I've got the very thing."

0:18:09 > 0:18:13Jed took out the rope and hauled the bike into a tree.

0:18:13 > 0:18:18Farmer Ted came running. "Shoo! Shoo!" he shouted,

0:18:18 > 0:18:21and chased the red bull back into the field.

0:18:21 > 0:18:26"Oh, thank you!" said Jed. "You're very kind for a farmer!"

0:18:26 > 0:18:32But Farmer Ted sighed. "I'm not really a farmer any more.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36"There's only red bull and me. I'd rather be a pirate!

0:18:36 > 0:18:41"Yes, that's the life for me. On a rollicking, rolling ship,

0:18:41 > 0:18:43"on a rollicking, rolling sea."

0:18:43 > 0:18:48Jed sighed. "I'm not really a pirate any more.

0:18:48 > 0:18:52"My friends and I are looking for a new home too!

0:18:52 > 0:18:55"We want a house that stands still, with a view from a hill

0:18:55 > 0:19:00"and a roof that's blue like the sky. With a stretching high tree,

0:19:00 > 0:19:05"and a field, bramble free, and a doormat where Old Dog can lie."

0:19:05 > 0:19:08"Oh, come with me..." said Farmer Ted.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11"I think I've got the very thing!"

0:19:11 > 0:19:18"A house like mine?" asked Ted. "Perfect!" replied Jed.

0:19:18 > 0:19:23"A ship like mine?" asked Jed. "Wonderful!" replied Ted.

0:19:23 > 0:19:27"Let's swap!" they said together.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29Jed introduced Ted to his family.

0:19:29 > 0:19:33"Ted wants to be a pirate," he explained. "Can you help?"

0:19:33 > 0:19:37"Ooh-arr, ha-har!" they all shouted.

0:19:37 > 0:19:42"We're the best pirate teachers in the world, ha-har!"

0:19:42 > 0:19:45Ted passed all the pirate tests.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47The pirates were so impressed,

0:19:47 > 0:19:50they invited him to join their motley crew immediately.

0:19:50 > 0:19:55Ted liked his new house. "Ooh-arr! This is the life for me!

0:19:55 > 0:20:00"On a rollicking, rolling ship on a rollicking, rolling sea!

0:20:00 > 0:20:03"Cheerio-ho-ho, me hearties!"

0:20:03 > 0:20:08and Jed knew he'd be a very wicked pirate indeed.

0:20:08 > 0:20:13Jed liked his new home too. Bird sang in the tree,

0:20:13 > 0:20:15and Sheep munched in the field.

0:20:15 > 0:20:18And Old Dog slept on the doormat.

0:20:18 > 0:20:22"I've a house that stands still! With a view from a hill,

0:20:22 > 0:20:28"and a roof that's blue like the sky. A perfect home for a pirate."

0:20:28 > 0:20:32And that story was called, A New Home For A Pirate.
