0:00:07 > 0:00:11Hello, I'm Sophie. Have you ever put on a show?

0:00:11 > 0:00:14I know someone who's preparing for a show.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17His name is Boris and I'll tell you all about him.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Tonight's bedtime story is called Boris Saves the Show,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23by Carrie Weston and Tim Warnes.

0:00:23 > 0:00:27The day Miss Cluck said there was going to be an end-of-term show,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30everyone was very excited. "Yippee!"

0:00:30 > 0:00:33At playtime, they talked of nothing else.

0:00:33 > 0:00:38Fergus the fox cub wanted to sing. Leticia the rabbit wanted to dance.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Maxwell the mole wanted to dress up

0:00:40 > 0:00:43and the little mice wanted to do everything.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46By lunchtime, Boris was feeling worried.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49He'd never been in a show before and was rather shy.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53He wrinkled his hairy, scary, grizzly bear nose nervously

0:00:53 > 0:00:58and asked, "Who's coming to watch us? Who? Who?"

0:00:58 > 0:01:02Everyone looked puzzled. Everyone looked at Miss Cluck.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05"A very special audience, indeed," she said.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09"I'm inviting Miss Webb and her class from Pond Side Nursery."

0:01:09 > 0:01:10"Yippee! Hooray!"

0:01:10 > 0:01:14She gave the important letter to Maxwell and he posted it,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16with a little help from Boris.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Next day, there was excitement at Pond Side Nursery

0:01:19 > 0:01:24when Miss Webb opened the envelope. She read the invitation out loud.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28"Please come to our school on Friday for our end-of-term show.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30"Love, Miss Cluck and Class One."

0:01:30 > 0:01:33"Ooh, lovely! Hooray!"

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Back in Class One, it was time to start practising.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Miss Cluck played some notes on the piano.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42"Do, re, mi, fa, so," she sang.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44"Your turn," she said.

0:01:44 > 0:01:45# Do

0:01:45 > 0:01:47# Re

0:01:47 > 0:01:48# Mi

0:01:48 > 0:01:49# Fa

0:01:49 > 0:01:51- DISCORDANT:- # So!

0:01:52 > 0:01:56Oh, when Boris sang, all the animals covered their ears.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00The piano shook. "This just won't do," sighed Miss Cluck.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02"You're much too loud, Boris, dear.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05"Let's try some dancing," said Miss Cluck.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09"Two claps, spin around, leap high and land softly," she said.

0:02:09 > 0:02:14Wow! Leticia clapped, Maxwell spun, Fergus leapt

0:02:14 > 0:02:17and Boris landed... but it wasn't at all softly.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18THUMP!

0:02:21 > 0:02:25"Never mind," spluttered Miss Cluck. "I've got just the job for a big,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27"hairy, scary grizzly bear."

0:02:27 > 0:02:31And she put Boris in charge of making the scenery.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34"Don't forget your apron, dear."

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Before long, the mice wanted to help, too,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39so while Boris painted a big sun in the sky,

0:02:39 > 0:02:42they painted tiny little flowers in the grass.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45"What a team!" said Miss Cluck, washing paint

0:02:45 > 0:02:48from six little paws and two great big ones.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52"And now," said Miss Cluck, we must choose our costumes.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54"Ooh, yippee! The best bit!"

0:02:54 > 0:02:58The dressing-up box was full of interesting things to try on -

0:02:58 > 0:03:02tiny hats for the mice, pretty feathers for Leticia,

0:03:02 > 0:03:06a silly wig for Maxwell, a suit of armour for Fergus

0:03:06 > 0:03:12and just enough shiny material to make a superhero cape for Boris.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13SWOOSH!

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Wow! The day of the show arrived.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20They were just about to have one last practice when the phone rang.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23"Hello?" said Miss Cluck.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26"Oh, dear! What a shame!"

0:03:26 > 0:03:30She looked very serious, as she put down the phone.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32"Bad news, I'm afraid," she said.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35"Miss Webb and her class have got stuck in mud

0:03:35 > 0:03:38"and won't be able to come to our show, after all."

0:03:38 > 0:03:40The animals gasped.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42"Oh, no!

0:03:42 > 0:03:45"They're stuck in mud! Who will rescue them?"

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Suddenly, Boris had an idea.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50With a swish of his cape, he hurried outside.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52"Come back, Boris!"

0:03:52 > 0:03:54"Where's Boris going?"

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Boris knew a shortcut through the woods.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00He ran and ran and ran, with his cape flying in the wind,

0:04:00 > 0:04:03until he found Miss Webb and her nursery class.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06The tractor wheels were stuck fast.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09The frogs and ducklings looked very glum.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Boris pushed. He heaved.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15He got splattered from head to toe, but he got them out of the mud!

0:04:15 > 0:04:19"It's Super Boris. Boris has saved us!"

0:04:19 > 0:04:21"What a hero, Boris!" said Miss Webb.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25"You must be worn out. Hop in the back and I'll give you a ride.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27"Off we go!"

0:04:27 > 0:04:31There wasn't much room in the trailer, but nobody minded a bit,

0:04:31 > 0:04:34because they arrived just as the show was about to start.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38The frogs and ducklings loved the singing, the dancing and,

0:04:38 > 0:04:42most of all, they loved Boris for saving the show.

0:04:42 > 0:04:43CHEERING

0:04:43 > 0:04:46That story was called Boris Saves The Show.
