0:30:18 > 0:30:21Welcome to Blue Note Jazz Club.

0:30:25 > 0:30:30Let me tell you all about him in tonight's bedtime story, which is

0:30:30 > 0:30:34called Mr Big and it's by Ed Vere.

0:30:34 > 0:30:38Let me tell you a story about a friend of mine.

0:30:38 > 0:30:42He goes by the name of Big, Mr Big.

0:30:43 > 0:30:46Now, Mr Big had a small problem.

0:30:48 > 0:30:54Compared to everyone else, he was extremely big!

0:30:54 > 0:30:57He was so big that anywhere he went,

0:30:57 > 0:31:01all everyone saw was someone big and scary.

0:31:02 > 0:31:06No-one stuck around to find out who he really was.

0:31:08 > 0:31:12So inside, Mr Big felt very, very small.

0:31:14 > 0:31:19When Mr Big went to the cafe, everyone had other things to do.

0:31:19 > 0:31:25When Mr Big got on the bus, everybody else got off.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28And when he went to the pool, well,

0:31:28 > 0:31:33let's just say everyone needed to be somewhere else.

0:31:33 > 0:31:37No-one ever saw the real Mr Big.

0:31:37 > 0:31:41One day, Mr Big noticed a piano in a shop window.

0:31:42 > 0:31:49It looked all alone, just like him. So he bought it and took it home.

0:31:51 > 0:31:55As Mr Big sat alone at the piano,

0:31:55 > 0:31:58he thought of all the things that made him sad.

0:31:58 > 0:31:59Then he played.

0:31:59 > 0:32:05HE PLAYS PIANO

0:32:05 > 0:32:07"Hey, man! That cat can play!"

0:32:08 > 0:32:12His music drifted out through the open window

0:32:12 > 0:32:15and into the evening sky.

0:32:15 > 0:32:19It drifted across the rooftops over to his neighbours,

0:32:19 > 0:32:23and they wondered who was playing such beautiful music.

0:32:25 > 0:32:28The word spread, and night after night,

0:32:28 > 0:32:31everyone came from all over town.

0:32:31 > 0:32:36And still, no-one knew who was playing. It was a big mystery.

0:32:37 > 0:32:41But inside, Mr Big was still alone.

0:32:42 > 0:32:48Then one morning, Mr Big received his first ever letter.

0:32:48 > 0:32:53It was an invitation, and it said, "Dear Mystery Pianist,

0:32:53 > 0:32:56"thank you for your beautiful music.

0:32:56 > 0:32:59"Everyone's been listening to you for weeks,

0:32:59 > 0:33:06"and we're all wondering one thing. Who are you? We'd love to meet you!

0:33:06 > 0:33:09"Me and a couple of the guys are playing tonight at the Blue Note.

0:33:09 > 0:33:14"Please come and join our band! See you later? A friend."

0:33:17 > 0:33:20That night, Mr Big joined the band.

0:33:21 > 0:33:27All night long, the joint was jumping and nobody wanted to leave!

0:33:27 > 0:33:35At last, everyone could see the real Mr Big. Go, baby! Go! Groovy, man!

0:33:35 > 0:33:42Hot, man! Yeah, baby! Jazz! Yeah, cool! He's cookin', Daddio!

0:33:43 > 0:33:47That's all, folks! Let's hear it for Mr Big.

0:33:47 > 0:33:48APPLAUSE

0:33:48 > 0:33:51Now that The Big Band has hit the big time,

0:33:51 > 0:33:56and everyone wants to meet them, Mr Big has a new problem.

0:33:56 > 0:33:59He doesn't get much time to be alone.

0:33:59 > 0:34:02And that's just the way he likes it.

0:34:03 > 0:34:07And that story was called Mr Big.
