1:00:06 > 1:00:09Hiya. I'm Dom.

1:00:09 > 1:00:11Are you ready for a bedtime story

1:00:11 > 1:00:14which is all about a very lonely penguin?

1:00:14 > 1:00:18It's called Lost And Found, and it's by Oliver Jeffers.

1:00:18 > 1:00:23Once there was a boy. One day, he found a penguin at his door.

1:00:24 > 1:00:27The boy didn't know where it had come from,

1:00:27 > 1:00:30but it began to follow him everywhere.

1:00:32 > 1:00:36The penguin looked sad and the boy thought it must be lost.

1:00:37 > 1:00:42So the boy decided to help the penguin find its way home.

1:00:42 > 1:00:44He checked in the Lost and Found Office,

1:00:44 > 1:00:47but no-one was missing a penguin.

1:00:47 > 1:00:51He asked some birds if they knew where the penguin had come from,

1:00:51 > 1:00:55but they ignored him. Some birds are like that.

1:00:55 > 1:01:02The boy asked his duck, but the duck floated away. He didn't know.

1:01:02 > 1:01:06That night, the boy couldn't sleep for disappointment.

1:01:06 > 1:01:10He wanted to help the penguin, but he didn't know how.

1:01:10 > 1:01:13The next morning, he discovered that penguins

1:01:13 > 1:01:17come from the South Pole, but how could he get there?

1:01:17 > 1:01:21He ran down to the harbour and asked a big ship to take them

1:01:21 > 1:01:23to the South Pole,

1:01:23 > 1:01:26but his voice was much too small to be heard

1:01:26 > 1:01:27over the ship's horn!

1:01:27 > 1:01:29HORN BLARES

1:01:29 > 1:01:33So, together, he and the penguin would row to the South Pole.

1:01:33 > 1:01:37The boy took his rowboat out of the cupboard

1:01:37 > 1:01:39and they tested it for size and strength.

1:01:39 > 1:01:42They packed everything they would need,

1:01:42 > 1:01:46and together they pushed the rowboat out to sea.

1:01:47 > 1:01:51They rowed south for many days and nights,

1:01:51 > 1:01:54with the boy telling stories all the way.

1:01:54 > 1:01:57The penguin listened to everything the boy said.

1:01:57 > 1:02:00They floated through good weather and bad...

1:02:00 > 1:02:03THUNDER RUMBLES

1:02:03 > 1:02:06..when the waves were as big as mountains,

1:02:06 > 1:02:08until they came to the South Pole.

1:02:08 > 1:02:14The boy was delighted! But the penguin said nothing.

1:02:16 > 1:02:21Suddenly, it looked sad again as the boy helped it out of the boat.

1:02:21 > 1:02:26The boy said goodbye and floated away.

1:02:27 > 1:02:31But as he looked back, the penguin looked sadder than ever.

1:02:31 > 1:02:34It felt strange to be on his own.

1:02:34 > 1:02:36And the more he thought,

1:02:36 > 1:02:40the more he realised that he was making a big mistake.

1:02:41 > 1:02:45The penguin wasn't lost, he was just lonely!

1:02:45 > 1:02:48Quickly, he turned the boat around and headed back

1:02:48 > 1:02:51to the South Pole as fast as he could.

1:02:51 > 1:02:55At last, he reached the Pole again, but where was the penguin?

1:02:55 > 1:03:00The boy searched and searched, but he was nowhere to be found.

1:03:00 > 1:03:03Sadly, the boy set off for home.

1:03:03 > 1:03:05There was no point telling stories

1:03:05 > 1:03:09because there was no-one to listen except the wind and the waves.

1:03:11 > 1:03:16But then, the boy saw something in the water ahead of him.

1:03:16 > 1:03:19Closer and closer he got until he could see,

1:03:19 > 1:03:21the penguin!

1:03:24 > 1:03:27And so the boy and his friend went home together,

1:03:27 > 1:03:30talking of wonderful things all the way.

1:03:32 > 1:03:35I hope you enjoyed that lovely story,

1:03:35 > 1:03:37which was called Lost And Found.

1:03:37 > 1:03:41I'm so happy that the boy and the penguin found each other again!

1:03:41 > 1:03:44Aren't you? Aren't you? Right. It's time for bed.

1:03:44 > 1:03:46So, get tucked up tight

1:03:46 > 1:03:50and I hope to see you soon for another bedtime story.

1:03:50 > 1:03:51OK? Night-night.
