0:14:19 > 0:14:24The story's called Florentine And Pig Have A Very Lovely Picnic,

0:14:24 > 0:14:28and it's by Eva Katzler and Jess Mikhail.

0:14:30 > 0:14:34Florentine and Pig were having breakfast one sparkly morning.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37"Now that the sun is warm and toasty,

0:14:37 > 0:14:40"I think we should do something lovely outdoors,"

0:14:40 > 0:14:42said Florentine.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45"Oh, Pig! I have a wonderful idea.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48"We should have a picnic!"

0:14:48 > 0:14:52Pig liked the sound of a picnic very much indeed.

0:14:52 > 0:14:57"We need to think of our favourite things to eat," Florentine said.

0:14:57 > 0:15:02"I love runny honey, and you love crunchy apples."

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Florentine began scribbling in her notebook.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08The pencil was moving so speedy fast,

0:15:08 > 0:15:11it made Pig's eyes go big and funny.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15At last, Florentine revealed

0:15:15 > 0:15:19all the marvellous things they would make.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21Pig's eyes got bigger and blinkier.

0:15:21 > 0:15:25He thought Florentine was really rather clever

0:15:25 > 0:15:27to think up such a lovely picnic.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31"Oh, no, Pig!" Florentine gasped.

0:15:31 > 0:15:35"You ate our very last apple for breakfast!

0:15:35 > 0:15:38"How will we ever make our muffins now?"

0:15:38 > 0:15:40Just as Florentine had said,

0:15:40 > 0:15:44Pig could not see any more apples on their apple tree.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47"Oh, dear," said Florentine.

0:15:47 > 0:15:51"What are we going to do, Pig?

0:15:51 > 0:15:54"Pig? Pig, where are you?"

0:15:54 > 0:15:57Florentine couldn't see Pig anywhere.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00Just then, Pig burst back into the kitchen

0:16:00 > 0:16:03with such a crash that all the pots and pans

0:16:03 > 0:16:06wobbled and rang and clattered and banged.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09He was carrying his shiny telescope.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12He pointed it at their apple tree, shut one eye

0:16:12 > 0:16:15and peered through the telescope with the other.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Pig was really rather good at winking.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22Suddenly, Pig began jumping in the air excitedly.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25"What is it, Pig?" Florentine asked.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27"What can you see?"

0:16:27 > 0:16:30Right at the very tippy-top of their apple tree

0:16:30 > 0:16:35were three of the biggest, reddest, juiciest

0:16:35 > 0:16:39and crunchiest apples she had ever seen.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42"Well, I never!" exclaimed Florentine.

0:16:42 > 0:16:47"Those apples look very tricky to reach, Pig," said Florentine.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49"However will we get them down?"

0:16:49 > 0:16:53But Pig was already marching around the kitchen,

0:16:53 > 0:16:57collecting everything he needed for his crunchy apple mission.

0:16:57 > 0:17:02Pig loved apples very much indeed, and nothing, but nothing,

0:17:02 > 0:17:06was going to stop him from having them for his lovely picnic.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10Nothing at all. Florentine and Pig set off into the garden

0:17:10 > 0:17:14with everything they needed and a strawberry jam sandwich too,

0:17:14 > 0:17:16in case Pig got hungry along the way.

0:17:16 > 0:17:18Armed with his wooden spoon,

0:17:18 > 0:17:20Pig waved goodbye to Florentine

0:17:20 > 0:17:23and disappeared up the ladder.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25"You're ever so brave, Pig,"

0:17:25 > 0:17:27called Florentine from under the tree.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30"Do be careful, won't you?"

0:17:30 > 0:17:33Florentine watched and listened.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35She heard rustling and bustling

0:17:35 > 0:17:39as Pig bravely bashed the big leaves out of his way

0:17:39 > 0:17:40with his wooden spoon.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42She heard bumping and thumping

0:17:42 > 0:17:46as the tree branches banged against the ball on Pig's head.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49She heard chomping and chewing

0:17:49 > 0:17:52as Pig munched on his strawberry jam sandwich.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55And then all was quiet.

0:17:55 > 0:18:00Florentine waited, and waited,

0:18:00 > 0:18:02and waited,

0:18:02 > 0:18:05but she couldn't hear anything at all.

0:18:05 > 0:18:08"Are you OK, Pig?" Florentine shouted up.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10"Are you stuck?"

0:18:11 > 0:18:14After a moment, there was a loud rustling

0:18:14 > 0:18:18and a wild swishing of the leaves at the top of the tree.

0:18:18 > 0:18:22Florentine suddenly heard three very loud snaps.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25SNAPPING

0:18:25 > 0:18:29Then there was a great thrashing and a thwacking

0:18:29 > 0:18:32and a crashing and a whooshing.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34When Florentine looked up,

0:18:34 > 0:18:38she glimpsed a flash of red and white spottiness

0:18:38 > 0:18:41tumbling through the tree towards the ground.

0:18:41 > 0:18:44"Oh, dear!" said Florentine.

0:18:44 > 0:18:48She could see the rope swinging gently at the bottom of the tree.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51And hanging at the end of it

0:18:51 > 0:18:55was a very happy upside-down Pig.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58Bundled up inside Pig's tablecloth

0:18:58 > 0:19:02were three very red, very juicy,

0:19:02 > 0:19:06very crunchy apples.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10"Oh, Pig, you are clever!" said Florentine.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13"Now we have everything we need.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16"Let's go inside and start cooking."

0:19:42 > 0:19:46and they tossed and twirled and mashed and munched.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51they laid their blanket under the apple tree

0:19:51 > 0:19:55and brought out all the delicious food they had made.

0:19:55 > 0:19:59Florentine and Pig were very happy indeed.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Florentine sighed happily.

0:20:01 > 0:20:05"What a very lovely picnic we have had, Pig.

0:20:11 > 0:20:15But Pig was already fast asleep, and snoring rather loudly.

0:20:17 > 0:20:19Florentine giggled.
