0:00:42 > 0:00:48There once was a little girl who had tiger slippers

0:00:48 > 0:00:51and a ceiling with stars on it.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53And a butterfly hair slide

0:00:53 > 0:00:55which she kept losing!

0:00:57 > 0:00:59and a nice mother,

0:00:59 > 0:01:02who helped her to make some paper dolls.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04They were Ticky and Tacky

0:01:11 > 0:01:15And they danced and they jumped and they sang

0:01:19 > 0:01:22and said, "I'm going to get you!"

0:01:52 > 0:01:57till a tiger slunk out of his den.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and he said, "I'll leap up and catch you!"

0:02:06 > 0:02:10"You can't catch us. Oh, no, no, no!

0:02:26 > 0:02:29and kicked crumbs and explored an island,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32till a fierce crocodile grinned his grin

0:02:32 > 0:02:36and gnashed his teeth and said,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39"I'm coming to crunch you!"

0:02:39 > 0:02:41But the paper dolls laughed and sang,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43"You can't crunch us!

0:02:43 > 0:02:44"Oh, no, no, no!

0:02:44 > 0:02:48"We're holding hands and we won't let go!

0:02:48 > 0:02:51"We're Ticky and Tacky and Jackie the Backie

0:02:54 > 0:02:57And they hopped into the garden.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14with a pair of scissors and said,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16"I'll snip you!"

0:03:20 > 0:03:23He snipped them into tiny little pieces and he said,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26"You're gone for ever!"

0:03:26 > 0:03:28But the paper dolls sang,

0:03:28 > 0:03:31"We're not gone. Oh, no, no, no!

0:03:31 > 0:03:34"We're holding hands and we won't let go.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37"We're Ticky and Tacky and Jackie the Backie

0:03:37 > 0:03:40"and Jim with two noses and Jo with the bow."

0:03:40 > 0:03:45And the pieces all joined together

0:03:45 > 0:03:48and the paper dolls flew

0:03:48 > 0:03:51into the little girl's memory

0:03:51 > 0:03:56where they found white mice and fireworks

0:03:56 > 0:03:58and a starfish soap

0:03:58 > 0:04:02and a kind granny.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04And the butterfly hair slide

0:04:04 > 0:04:09and more and more lovely things each day and each year.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12And the girl grew

0:04:12 > 0:04:16into a mother

0:04:16 > 0:04:21who helped her own little girl make some paper dolls.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23They were Poppy and Pinky

0:04:23 > 0:04:26and Binky the Blinky

0:04:26 > 0:04:29and Fred with one eyebrow

0:04:29 > 0:04:32and Flo with the bow.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36And they jumped and they danced

0:04:36 > 0:04:38and they sang.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48That story was called The Paper Dolls.

0:04:48 > 0:04:52Isn't it lovely that the little girl in the story remembered

0:04:52 > 0:04:56her paper dolls for all those years?

0:04:56 > 0:04:59Then, when she was a mummy herself,

0:04:59 > 0:05:02she made some more paper dolls

0:05:02 > 0:05:05for her own little girl to play with.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Maybe one day, when you're grown-up,

0:05:08 > 0:05:11you'll know a little boy or a little girl

0:05:11 > 0:05:16to play all your favourite games with all over again, too.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20But, for now, it's time for you to go to bed,
