0:30:25 > 0:30:28Burglar Bill lives by himself
0:30:28 > 0:30:32in a tall house full of stolen property.
0:30:32 > 0:30:35Every night, he has stolen fish and chips
0:30:35 > 0:30:38and a cup of stolen tea for supper.
0:30:38 > 0:30:42Then he swings a big stolen sack over his shoulder
0:30:42 > 0:30:46and goes off to work, stealing things.
0:30:46 > 0:30:50Every morning, Burglar Bill comes home from work
0:30:50 > 0:30:52and has stolen toast and marmalade
0:30:52 > 0:30:55and a cup of stolen coffee for breakfast.
0:30:55 > 0:31:01Then he goes upstairs and sleeps all day in a comfortable stolen bed.
0:31:03 > 0:31:07One night, Burglar Bill is working in a little street
0:31:07 > 0:31:09behind the police station.
0:31:09 > 0:31:11When he comes to the first house,
0:31:11 > 0:31:17he climbs in through the bathroom window and shines his torch around.
0:31:17 > 0:31:23"That's a nice toothbrush," says Burglar Bill, "I'll have that."
0:31:23 > 0:31:27And he puts it into his sack. When he comes to the second house,
0:31:27 > 0:31:32he climbs in through the kitchen window and shines his torch around.
0:31:32 > 0:31:36"That's a nice tin of beans," says Burglar Bill, "I'll have that."
0:31:36 > 0:31:41And he puts it into his sack. When he comes to the third house,
0:31:41 > 0:31:45he climbs in through the bedroom window and shines his torch around.
0:31:45 > 0:31:49"That's a nice hat and coat and pair of trousers and socks
0:31:49 > 0:31:52"and shoes," says Burglar Bill, "I'll have them."
0:31:52 > 0:31:54And he puts them into his sack.
0:31:54 > 0:31:59When he comes to the 16th house, he stops.
0:31:59 > 0:32:03There, on the front step, is a big, brown box
0:32:03 > 0:32:06with little holes in it.

0:32:10 > 0:32:12says Burglar Bill, "I'll have that."
0:32:14 > 0:32:18In the distance, the town hall clock strikes five.
0:32:18 > 0:32:20HE SIGHS
0:32:20 > 0:32:24"Time to stop work," says Burglar Bill.
0:32:24 > 0:32:28He swings the sack over his shoulder, picks up the box
0:32:28 > 0:32:31and goes home to have breakfast.
0:32:31 > 0:32:36After breakfast, Burglar Bill plays with his cat by the fire.
0:32:36 > 0:32:38Suddenly, he hears a noise.
0:32:38 > 0:32:40CRYING
0:32:40 > 0:32:43"Sounds like a police car," says Burglar Bill.
0:32:43 > 0:32:47But the noise is coming from the big, brown box
0:32:47 > 0:32:50and it is getting louder.
0:32:50 > 0:32:53"Sounds like TWO police cars," says Burglar Bill.
0:32:53 > 0:32:58He creeps up to the box and raises the lid.
0:32:58 > 0:33:03"Blow me down!" he says, "it ain't no police cars.
0:33:03 > 0:33:05"It's a...baby!"
0:33:06 > 0:33:10Burglar Bill puts the baby on the table.
0:33:10 > 0:33:13"What was you doing in that box, baby?" he says.
0:33:13 > 0:33:17But the baby only keeps on crying.
0:33:17 > 0:33:20"All alone," says Burglar Bill.
0:33:20 > 0:33:25He pats the baby's little hand. "An orphan."
0:33:25 > 0:33:28But the baby only keeps on crying.
0:33:28 > 0:33:34Then Burglar Bill says, "I know what you want. Grub."
0:33:34 > 0:33:40Burglar Bill gives an apple to the baby, but still the baby cries.
0:33:40 > 0:33:44He gives a slice of toast and marmalade to the baby,
0:33:44 > 0:33:47but still the baby cries.
0:33:47 > 0:33:51He gives a plate of beans and a cup of tea to the baby.
0:33:51 > 0:33:55The baby eats the beans, throws the cup of tea on the floor
0:33:55 > 0:33:56and starts to laugh.
0:33:58 > 0:34:04"That's better," says Burglar Bill, "I likes a few beans meself."
0:34:04 > 0:34:08Burglar Bill sits by the fire and wonders what to do.
0:34:08 > 0:34:14The baby is crying again. He gives the baby a football to play with.
0:34:14 > 0:34:19The baby throws the football at the cat and keeps on crying.
0:34:19 > 0:34:22He gives the baby a book to look at.
0:34:22 > 0:34:27The baby bites a hole in the book and keeps on crying.
0:34:27 > 0:34:33He sings a song and plays the piano to the baby.
0:34:33 > 0:34:35The baby cries louder than ever.
0:34:35 > 0:34:40He falls off the piano school and bangs his nose on the floor.
0:34:40 > 0:34:45The baby laughs and shouts. "Ha-ha-ha! Again!"
0:34:46 > 0:34:50"Again?" says Burglar Bill. He rubs his nose.
0:34:50 > 0:34:54"I didn't want to do it the first time."
0:34:54 > 0:34:59Burglar Bill bounces the baby on his knee.
0:34:59 > 0:35:01"So, you can talk," he says.
0:35:01 > 0:35:04"Say, 'Burglar Bill.'"
0:35:04 > 0:35:08"Boglaboll," says the baby.
0:35:08 > 0:35:13Say, 'Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper,'" says Burglar Bill.
0:35:13 > 0:35:17"Boglaboll," says the baby.
0:35:17 > 0:35:22Suddenly, Burglar Bill feels his knee getting wet
0:35:22 > 0:35:28and smells a smell. "Poo!" he says. "I know what you want."
0:35:29 > 0:35:32"Poo," says the baby.
0:35:33 > 0:35:37Burglar Bill changes the baby's nappy.
0:35:37 > 0:35:42He doesn't have another one, so he uses an old bath towel instead.
0:35:42 > 0:35:46"Say, 'For he's a jolly good fellow for changing my nappy,'"
0:35:46 > 0:35:48says Burglar Bill.
0:35:48 > 0:35:53Burglar Bill plays with the baby and shows it round the house.
0:35:53 > 0:35:56He feeds it again, changes its nappy again,
0:35:56 > 0:36:01washes its clothes and hangs them on a line in the kitchen.
0:36:01 > 0:36:05When night comes, he takes the baby for a walk in the park.
0:36:05 > 0:36:10"Say, 'Run for it,' if you see anybody," says Burglar Bill.
0:36:10 > 0:36:12"Runfrit," the baby says.
0:36:16 > 0:36:20At 12 o'clock, Burglar Bill comes home, puts the baby to bed
0:36:20 > 0:36:22and goes to bed himself.
0:36:22 > 0:36:26Soon he's snoring softly...
0:36:30 > 0:36:34..and dreaming of his childhood days.
0:36:34 > 0:36:36Suddenly, he wakes up.
0:36:36 > 0:36:38Downstairs, there is a noise.
0:36:38 > 0:36:42It is a noise that Burglar Bill has heard before...
0:36:45 > 0:36:51..the noise of someone opening a window and climbing carefully in.
0:36:51 > 0:36:56"Blow me down," says Burglar Bill, "I'm being burgled!"
