0:48:07 > 0:48:11What's that? Your homework was to practise being cuddly?

0:48:11 > 0:48:16I can help you if you like. Come here. Oh, you are very cuddly.

0:48:16 > 0:48:18Good work. Oh, hello.

0:48:18 > 0:48:20Excuse me. I'm Chris.

0:48:20 > 0:48:23Teddy's just been telling me about his day at toy school.

0:48:23 > 0:48:25Have you heard about toy school?

0:48:25 > 0:48:29Well, it's where all your toys go before they come to live with you.

0:48:29 > 0:48:32Tonight's bedtime story is about a bear who has to put

0:48:32 > 0:48:36all his lessons into practice when he goes to live with his new owner.

0:48:36 > 0:48:39It's called Bob The Bursting Bear.

0:48:39 > 0:48:43It's by Michael Rosen and Tony Ross.

0:48:43 > 0:48:46It was lesson time at toy school for Bob and the other new toys.

0:48:46 > 0:48:48"When you leave here,

0:48:48 > 0:48:53"you are going to be looked after by a boy or a girl," Mr Ted said.

0:48:53 > 0:48:56The new toys were excited.

0:48:56 > 0:49:00"But you will have to do special things to make sure that

0:49:00 > 0:49:05"the boy or the girl cares for you and loves you," Mr Ted added.

0:49:05 > 0:49:11"You must be fit," he said. Mr Ted got all the toys to do exercises.

0:49:12 > 0:49:18"You have to be clever," he said. Mr Ted got all the toys to read books.

0:49:18 > 0:49:22"And you have to be cuddly," he said.

0:49:22 > 0:49:26Mr Ted showed all the toys how to be cuddly.

0:49:27 > 0:49:31When they had all done this, Mr Ted looked at them proudly,

0:49:31 > 0:49:34and said, "Now, go out there and be loved."

0:49:35 > 0:49:41Bob the Bear packed his case and set off for his new home.

0:49:41 > 0:49:44His new owner was called Solo.

0:49:44 > 0:49:48When he arrived at her home, he was ready to be loved.

0:49:48 > 0:49:53He was fit, he was clever and he was cuddly.

0:49:53 > 0:49:56But Solo's house was noisy.

0:49:56 > 0:50:00There were a lot of people, and there was a lot going on.

0:50:00 > 0:50:05In fact, to tell the truth, no-one really noticed Bob the bear.

0:50:06 > 0:50:13Bob tried all sorts of things. He did his exercises. He read some books.

0:50:13 > 0:50:20He tried to look cuddly. It was no good. That didn't work.

0:50:20 > 0:50:25So he tried some other things. First, he tried making a noise.

0:50:25 > 0:50:29But that didn't work. There was a lot of noise going on already.

0:50:30 > 0:50:34He tried falling over, but that didn't work.

0:50:34 > 0:50:38Everyone was always falling over anyway.

0:50:38 > 0:50:43He tried falling off high places, but that didn't work either.

0:50:43 > 0:50:47All sorts of things fell off high places in Solo's house.

0:50:47 > 0:50:51The next thing he tried was hiding. But that didn't work.

0:50:51 > 0:50:55Wherever Bob hid, there were other things that were hiding,

0:50:55 > 0:51:00or had got lost, or had just disappeared from view ages ago.

0:51:00 > 0:51:03So Bob tried something completely different.

0:51:03 > 0:51:06He remembered something that he had read

0:51:06 > 0:51:08in one of the books at toy school.

0:51:08 > 0:51:12He started to make himself bigger.

0:51:12 > 0:51:15Bigger and bigger and bigger.

0:51:15 > 0:51:19Bigger and bigger until he burst!

0:51:19 > 0:51:21With an enormous bang.

0:51:22 > 0:51:25Everyone stopped and looked.

0:51:26 > 0:51:30Then they started laughing.

0:51:30 > 0:51:34They laughed and laughed and laughed.

0:51:34 > 0:51:37"What a bang!" said Solo.

0:51:37 > 0:51:40"It was amazing," said Solo's brother.

0:51:40 > 0:51:45"It's Bob the bursting bear," said Solo's cousin.

0:51:45 > 0:51:48They collected up all the bits of Bob that were lying around.

0:51:48 > 0:51:52This bit here, that bit there, this bit on that bit,

0:51:52 > 0:51:55until at last Bob was put back together.

0:51:57 > 0:52:02Not exactly, exactly the same as he was before.

0:52:02 > 0:52:04But more or less.

0:52:05 > 0:52:08"Again!" shouted Solo.

0:52:08 > 0:52:12So Bob the bear started to make himself bigger,

0:52:12 > 0:52:14bigger and bigger,

0:52:14 > 0:52:16bigger and bigger all over again,

0:52:16 > 0:52:19until he burst.

0:52:19 > 0:52:22With an enormous bang.

0:52:22 > 0:52:27"Hooray!" everyone shouted. "Bob the bursting bear!" they shouted.

0:52:27 > 0:52:33Now everyone wanted Bob the bear. Now everyone loved Bob.

0:52:33 > 0:52:36Bob the bursting bear.

0:52:38 > 0:52:41That story was called Bob The Bursting Bear.

0:52:41 > 0:52:44Bob went to a lot of effort to get everyone's attention.

0:52:44 > 0:52:48In the end, he found a special talent of his very own,

0:52:48 > 0:52:50and everybody loved it.

0:52:50 > 0:52:53Now, you'd better find your favourite teddy to take to bed.

0:52:53 > 0:52:56Get tucked up, and give it a big cuddle.

0:52:56 > 0:53:01I'll see you soon for another bedtime story. Sleep tight.
