0:55:17 > 0:55:20Well, tonight's bedtime story

0:55:20 > 0:55:25is about someone who has such a big, long sleep

0:55:25 > 0:55:29that he misses the autumn and the winter too.

0:55:29 > 0:55:32It's called Wakey Wakey, Big Brown Bear,

0:55:32 > 0:55:36and it's by Tracey Corderoy and Rachel Swirles.

0:55:39 > 0:55:41Autumn was coming.

0:55:41 > 0:55:44Bright berries shone like jewels.

0:55:44 > 0:55:47Leaves danced to the ground.

0:55:47 > 0:55:50It was time for Big Brown Bear's long sleep.

0:55:53 > 0:55:57He would sleep through the pretty autumn and the sparkly winter too,

0:55:57 > 0:56:01and he wouldn't wake again until the spring.

0:56:02 > 0:56:07"Oh, I'll miss all the fun," he yawned.

0:56:08 > 0:56:13Little Grey Mouse and Snow Hare tucked Big Brown Bear into bed,

0:56:13 > 0:56:15and Squirrel read him a story.

0:56:15 > 0:56:18Then it was time for him to sleep.

0:56:18 > 0:56:22"Oh, you'll be awake before you know it," they said.

0:56:22 > 0:56:28"Oh, but I really want to stay up," sighed Big Brown Bear.

0:56:28 > 0:56:31"You see, I've never rolled in crunchy leaves

0:56:31 > 0:56:33"or jumped in giant rain puddles

0:56:33 > 0:56:37"or made a fluffy snow bear just like me."

0:56:39 > 0:56:42"I'll wake you up," squeaked Little Grey Mouse,

0:56:42 > 0:56:45"when the forest is a carpet of leaves.

0:56:45 > 0:56:49"Then we'll roll in them together, you and me."

0:56:50 > 0:56:54"And we'll jump in the puddles," Snow Hare said,

0:56:54 > 0:56:56"when the rain comes tumbling down."

0:56:58 > 0:57:02"And we'll build a snow bear together," smiled Squirrel.

0:57:02 > 0:57:05"We'll wake you up, you'll see."

0:57:06 > 0:57:10"Oh, thanks," said Big Brown Bear,

0:57:10 > 0:57:13his head growing heavy with dreams,

0:57:13 > 0:57:18and in a blink, he was fast asleep as the wind swept by.

0:57:19 > 0:57:22Little Grey Mouse tried to wake his friend

0:57:22 > 0:57:25when the forest was a carpet of leaves.

0:57:25 > 0:57:29"Wakey wakey, Big Brown Bear," he called.

0:57:29 > 0:57:31But Big Brown Bear slept on.

0:57:33 > 0:57:34"Oh, well,"

0:57:34 > 0:57:37sighed Little Grey Mouse,

0:57:37 > 0:57:40"I'll keep some crunchy leaves just in case."

0:57:41 > 0:57:46Snow Hare tried to wake her friend when the rain came tumbling down.

0:57:46 > 0:57:50"Wakey Wakey, Big Brown Bear," she called.

0:57:50 > 0:57:53But Big Brown Bear slept on.

0:57:54 > 0:57:57"Oh," cried Snow Hare,

0:57:57 > 0:58:00"Giant puddles."

0:58:00 > 0:58:04And she collected some rain drops in buckets and bowls, just in case.

0:58:05 > 0:58:09Finally, Squirrel tried to wake his friend

0:58:09 > 0:58:11when snowflakes filled the sky.

0:58:12 > 0:58:16"Wakey Wakey, Big Brown Bear," he called.

0:58:16 > 0:58:18But Big Brown Bear slept on.

0:58:20 > 0:58:25"Wheeee!" giggled Squirrel, shaking a pillow

0:58:25 > 0:58:28until feathers danced down like snowflakes.

0:58:28 > 0:58:33"I'll keep a nice big bundle of these just in case."

0:58:33 > 0:58:35Big Brown Bear was missing all the fun.

0:58:37 > 0:58:40"What shall we do?" asked Little Grey Mouse.

0:58:42 > 0:58:46"We must wait until spring," Snow Hare sighed.

0:58:47 > 0:58:51"And then," giggled Squirrel, "I know what we'll do."

0:58:53 > 0:58:55He whispered a plan to the others.

0:58:58 > 0:59:00SHE YAWNS

0:59:04 > 0:59:09At last, Big Brown Bear yawned awake.

0:59:09 > 0:59:15The grass was soft and green, and bright new leaves filled the trees.

0:59:17 > 0:59:23"Oh, dear," he sighed, "it must be spring,

0:59:23 > 0:59:25"and I've missed all the fun."

0:59:26 > 0:59:28He rubbed his eyes.

0:59:30 > 0:59:33But wait, what was this?

0:59:34 > 0:59:39"Surprise!" cried all his friends,

0:59:39 > 0:59:43"We saved autumn and winter just for you."

0:59:43 > 0:59:47There were crunchy leaves to roll in,

0:59:47 > 0:59:49giant rain puddles to jump in

0:59:49 > 0:59:53and feathers to build a fluffy snow bear too.

0:59:56 > 1:00:00"Oh, thank you, thank you," cried Big Brown Bear.

1:00:01 > 1:00:06But, suddenly, his friends all had...

1:00:06 > 1:00:08SHE YAWNS

1:00:08 > 1:00:09..great big yawns.

1:00:10 > 1:00:15So Big Brown Bear tucked them all into bed.

1:00:17 > 1:00:18"Night-night,"

1:00:18 > 1:00:23he whispered softly as their heads grew heavy with dreams.

1:00:25 > 1:00:30"Night-night, Big Brown Bear," they all whispered back.

1:00:30 > 1:00:31SNORING

1:00:31 > 1:00:35That story was called Wakey Wakey, Big Brown Bear.

1:00:36 > 1:00:39Now it's your bedtime.

1:00:39 > 1:00:42So off you go to have a good sleep,

1:00:42 > 1:00:44just like the animals in the story.
