0:48:07 > 0:48:10HE WHOOSHES AND ZOOMS
0:48:10 > 0:48:12Prepare for a landing, Doggy!
0:48:12 > 0:48:14HE WHOOSHES
0:48:14 > 0:48:16Touchdown!
0:48:16 > 0:48:18Yeah!
0:48:18 > 0:48:23Oh, hey. I was just taking Doggy for a little flight before bed.
0:48:23 > 0:48:26What do you mean, dogs can't fly?
0:48:26 > 0:48:29Are you sure about that?
0:48:29 > 0:48:34Because tonight's Bedtime Story might just change your mind.
0:48:34 > 0:48:37It's called Some Dogs Do and it's by Jez Alborough.
0:48:40 > 0:48:46When Sid set off for school one day, a happy feeling came his way.
0:48:46 > 0:48:52It filled him up so much, he found his paws just lifted off the ground.
0:48:52 > 0:48:59Without a howl, without a whine, Sid fell up towards the sky.
0:49:00 > 0:49:03Through swirling puffs of cloud he twirled
0:49:03 > 0:49:06above a tiny toy-town world.
0:49:08 > 0:49:12In the land of sun and moon like a doggy-shaped balloon.
0:49:14 > 0:49:20At school, Sid asked his best friend Ben, "Did you see me fly just then?"
0:49:21 > 0:49:26"Don't be daft," came Ben's reply. "You're a dog and dogs don't fly."
0:49:26 > 0:49:30"But I did," said Sid. "I did, I did!"
0:49:31 > 0:49:37In the classroom, Sid said "Hey, guess what, I flew to school today."
0:49:37 > 0:49:41His classmates giggled, yelped and yowled.
0:49:41 > 0:49:45"Dogs don't fly to school," they howled.
0:49:45 > 0:49:48"But I did," said Sid. "I did."
0:49:49 > 0:49:53Miss Mare, the teacher, shook her head.
0:49:53 > 0:49:57"Now, Sid, you shouldn't lie," she said.
0:49:57 > 0:49:59"All dogs walk and jump and run,
0:49:59 > 0:50:02"but dogs don't fly, it can't be done."
0:50:03 > 0:50:05"But I did," said Sid.
0:50:05 > 0:50:10Gus said "Right, if you can fly, come outside, let's see you try.
0:50:12 > 0:50:17Sid's happiness had gone by then. He tried to get it back again.
0:50:17 > 0:50:24He thought about the clouds up high and then he jumped towards the sky.
0:50:24 > 0:50:26Flop!
0:50:26 > 0:50:29"You see? You're just a dog," said Gus,
0:50:29 > 0:50:33"With paws for walking, just like us.
0:50:33 > 0:50:37"That will teach you not to lie. Now you know that dogs don't fly."
0:50:39 > 0:50:42When Sid walked home from school that day,
0:50:42 > 0:50:44it seemed a long and lonely way.
0:50:46 > 0:50:51And once at home with Mum and Dad, deep inside, he still felt bad.
0:50:52 > 0:50:57He did the things he always did, but something wasn't right with Sid.
0:50:59 > 0:51:02His dad came out and asked, "What's up?
0:51:02 > 0:51:04"You seem unhappy, little pup."
0:51:06 > 0:51:08Sid sat staring at the sky
0:51:08 > 0:51:11and all he said was, "Dogs don't fly."
0:51:13 > 0:51:19Sid's Dad slowly raised his head. "I know a secret, Sid," he said.
0:51:19 > 0:51:22"Could you keep it safe inside?"
0:51:22 > 0:51:25"What's the secret?" Sid replied.
0:51:25 > 0:51:29He turned around and then he knew
0:51:29 > 0:51:31and now you know the secret too.
0:51:32 > 0:51:35Sid's happy eyes were open wide.
0:51:35 > 0:51:38"I knew it! Dogs do fly," he cried.
0:51:40 > 0:51:43Sid's dad said, "Come fly, then, Sid."
0:51:43 > 0:51:47And that's exactly what Sid did.
0:51:47 > 0:51:50Do dogs fly? Is it true?
0:51:50 > 0:51:54Some dogs don't and some dogs do.
0:51:56 > 0:52:00And that story was called Some Dogs Do.
0:52:00 > 0:52:04So, now you know that some dogs really can fly.
0:52:04 > 0:52:07Hey, I wonder what other secrets dogs have?
0:52:08 > 0:52:09Mm!
0:52:09 > 0:52:13And now it's time for you to fly yourself into bed,
0:52:13 > 0:52:15so think happy thoughts and off you go.
0:52:15 > 0:52:20Sweet dreams. I'll be back again soon for another Bedtime Story.
