0:00:06 > 0:00:12Hello, I'm Liz and these are my friends, the bears.

0:00:12 > 0:00:16They've been having lots of fun playing in the CBeebies House.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20But now it's time for you and them to settle down with tonight's

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Bedtime Story, which is about a bear.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26But this bear is a very different bear to my bear friends.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Would you like to hear it?

0:00:28 > 0:00:32The story is called Grizzly Dad by Joanna Harrison.

0:00:32 > 0:00:33ALARM CLOCK RINGS

0:00:33 > 0:00:37Dad woke up in a grizzly mood.

0:00:37 > 0:00:44All morning, he groaned and grizzled and grumped.

0:00:44 > 0:00:50And then he went back to bed. He was just like a bear with a sore head.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55When Mum had finished clearing up, she and my little brother

0:00:55 > 0:00:57and sister had to go out.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00"Go and see how Dad is," she said as they left.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02So I went upstairs to wake him up.

0:01:04 > 0:01:10"Dad!" I whispered. But he only grunted. "Dad!" I said.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12But he only snuffled.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16"Dad!" I yelled and pulled back the bed covers.

0:01:16 > 0:01:23But it wasn't Dad in bed at all. It was a great big grizzly bear!

0:01:23 > 0:01:25I should have been frightened

0:01:25 > 0:01:30but the grumpy look on its face reminded me of someone.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32"Dad," I said.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36"Is that you?" The bear rushed off to look in the bathroom mirror.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38He grunted miserably.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44"Don't worry, Dad," I said. "I'll look after you."

0:01:44 > 0:01:48So I wiped his eyes and combed his hair, brushed his teeth.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52He was a bit smelly! And I gave him breakfast.

0:01:52 > 0:01:58But now that Dad was a bear, his manners were really quite awful!

0:01:58 > 0:02:03And when he started rummaging around the fridge, I'd had enough.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07"Dad!" I said. "I'm fed up with you!

0:02:07 > 0:02:12"First you're in a bad mood, then you turn into a bear, and now,

0:02:12 > 0:02:18"you're making a horrible mess!" Dad looked at me in a funny sort of way.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20And before I knew it...

0:02:21 > 0:02:25..we were off, heading into town. Vroo-oom!

0:02:27 > 0:02:31First we went to the cinema. It was great.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34We had the whole place to ourselves.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37I was beginning to realise that having a grizzly bear as a dad

0:02:37 > 0:02:41wasn't so bad after all. Then we went to the park.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45I taught Dad how to skateboard and he taught me how to scratch my

0:02:45 > 0:02:52back and climb trees and how to just lie about, doing nothing at all.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58When we got home, we made honey sandwiches

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and watched football on the television.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05It had been the best day ever!

0:03:06 > 0:03:09"Thanks, Dad," I said.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13"You're the greatest, even if you are a bear."

0:03:13 > 0:03:20Then Dad did what dads do best. He gave me a great big bear hug.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25And when I looked up, he wasn't a bear any more.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31Suddenly, Mum came back and everything returned to normal.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35Well, almost. "What a mess!" said Mum.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38"This place looks like a pigsty!"

0:03:39 > 0:03:44"Sorry," we grunted and trotted off to clear it up.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50That story was called Grizzly Dad.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53What a fun time the boy and his dad had!

0:03:53 > 0:03:56I wonder if they were really tired at the end of the day?

0:03:56 > 0:04:00Now it's time for you to go to bed, so I'll say good night

0:04:00 > 0:04:01and sleep tight.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05I'll see you again soon with another Bedtime Story.
