0:00:05 > 0:00:07Oh, right.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Now, I've got my space helmet,
0:00:09 > 0:00:11space boots,
0:00:11 > 0:00:13special space suit,
0:00:13 > 0:00:16good, and my sandwiches...
0:00:16 > 0:00:17Oh, and a slice of cake.
0:00:17 > 0:00:18Lovely. So...
0:00:18 > 0:00:21Oh, hello! I'm Adrian
0:00:21 > 0:00:25and I'm sorting out everything I need for my trip into space.
0:00:25 > 0:00:28Look, this is where I'm going.
0:00:28 > 0:00:32I'm off on a moon tour with Bob, the man on the moon.
0:00:32 > 0:00:36Tonight's bedtime story is all about Bob.
0:00:36 > 0:00:40It's by Simon Bartram and it's called Bob's Best Ever Friend.
0:00:40 > 0:00:44It was a Tuesday morning in space and nothing much was happening.
0:00:44 > 0:00:47By 10 o'clock, Bob, the man on the moon,
0:00:47 > 0:00:50had finished all his jobs for the day.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52There were no space tourists to entertain,
0:00:52 > 0:00:56and his friends, Billy and Sam, were away on a day trip to Pluto,
0:00:56 > 0:00:59visiting a most exciting pet show.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01They hoped to see some alien animals there,
0:01:01 > 0:01:04but Bob thought they'd be disappointed. After all,
0:01:04 > 0:01:07everyone knows there's no such thing as aliens,
0:01:07 > 0:01:09and especially not alien animals.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13With nobody to talk to, Bob felt a little glum.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17At lunch time, he even had to bounce on his bouncy castle alone
0:01:17 > 0:01:20and that never, but never, happened before.
0:01:20 > 0:01:24Quite frankly, Bob was a bit lonely.
0:01:25 > 0:01:26To cheer himself up,
0:01:26 > 0:01:30Bob went for a quick spin around the universe in his rocket.
0:01:30 > 0:01:33Nothing much was happening there either.
0:01:33 > 0:01:36Unfortunately, every last planet was closed for the winter.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38So Bob stopped off at a passing asteroid
0:01:38 > 0:01:41to enjoy a nice cup of tea and a corned beef slice.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43The view was beautiful.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46It was just a shame he had no-one to share it with.
0:01:47 > 0:01:52"What I need," thought Bob to himself, "is a best ever friend,
0:01:52 > 0:01:56"a chum, someone to help with inter-galactic missions
0:01:56 > 0:01:57"and jigsaw puzzles,
0:01:57 > 0:02:00"a pal who'll always be by my side."
0:02:00 > 0:02:03But where on earth could he find a friend like that.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06For the rest of the day, Bob pondered his problem
0:02:06 > 0:02:08until it was time to return to Earth
0:02:08 > 0:02:10for a nice supper of fish fingers and peas.
0:02:10 > 0:02:14As a Tuesday treat, he allowed himself to eat in front of the TV.
0:02:14 > 0:02:18The newsreader said a troublesome asteroid had been causing havoc
0:02:18 > 0:02:20elsewhere in the solar system
0:02:20 > 0:02:22and was now in danger of crashing into Earth.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25Bob was glued to the screen. He wished he had someone
0:02:25 > 0:02:28to watch the programme with, it was so exciting!
0:02:28 > 0:02:33As he sipped his cocoa in bed, Bob thought it would be much easier
0:02:33 > 0:02:36if a best ever friend could find him instead.
0:02:36 > 0:02:40The next day, Bob didn't have to start work until the evening.
0:02:40 > 0:02:43So after some early star jumps in the garden,
0:02:43 > 0:02:46he cycled into town to do a spot of shopping.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49Firstly, he had a quick peek around the modern art gallery.
0:02:49 > 0:02:53Then he bought two small batteries to power his rocket,
0:02:53 > 0:02:57a smart pair of moon-patterned underpants, half price in the sale,
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and a newspaper, hot off the press.
0:02:59 > 0:03:01The streets were busier than ever.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04Bob wondered how anyone could hope to spot
0:03:04 > 0:03:07a best ever friend in a place like this.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10In the midst of his daydreams, Bob found himself staring
0:03:10 > 0:03:14in the window of the pet shop - Cats, Rats And Bats.
0:03:14 > 0:03:16At first, he was a trifle confused.
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Why had he gone there?
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Then he remembered - Clive and Keith,
0:03:21 > 0:03:24his cousin Dougal's goldfish. Bob was looking after them
0:03:24 > 0:03:28for a day or two, and that morning they looked a little peckish.
0:03:28 > 0:03:33As he paid for their squishy, delishy, fishy food - 59 pence -
0:03:33 > 0:03:36a strange notion popped into Bob's head.
0:03:36 > 0:03:39Perhaps his best ever friend could be a pet.
0:03:39 > 0:03:43Bob had a good look around inside, but couldn't see anything
0:03:43 > 0:03:45that looked like a best ever friend.
0:03:45 > 0:03:48To tell the truth, some of the animals looked a little odd to him.
0:03:48 > 0:03:53"Oh, well," sighed Bob, "you can't rush these things."
0:03:53 > 0:03:57His thoughts were interrupted by the chimes of the town clock.
0:03:57 > 0:03:59It was half past four - time for tea!
0:03:59 > 0:04:03The best tea in town was served at the Moon Soup Pit-stop Cafe.
0:04:03 > 0:04:07Bob felt quite at home among the moon pictures and decorations,
0:04:07 > 0:04:11though sometimes called it the Moon Stop Pit-soup Cafe by mistake.
0:04:11 > 0:04:14He wondered if anyone would recognise him
0:04:14 > 0:04:17without his space suit on. No-one did.
0:04:17 > 0:04:21So he sat quietly and nibbled his favourite Moon Soup crater cake.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23He knew it was really just a doughnut,
0:04:23 > 0:04:25but it was tip-top tasty all the same.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28It was a shame there was no time for seconds.
0:04:28 > 0:04:31Night was falling and Bob had a job to do.
0:04:31 > 0:04:34The moon was waiting.
0:04:34 > 0:04:37Bob pedalled as fast as he could to the rocket launch pad
0:04:37 > 0:04:41and in a superfast flash changed into his man-on-the-moon suit.
0:04:41 > 0:04:42He had to reach the moon
0:04:42 > 0:04:45before the first Moon Tours tourist spaceship arrived.
0:04:45 > 0:04:48There were snacks and entertainment to prepare.
0:04:48 > 0:04:52After clambering aboard and flicking switches, the rocket rumbled
0:04:52 > 0:04:53and Bob counted down.
0:04:53 > 0:04:58Five, four, three, two, one...
0:04:58 > 0:04:59lift-off!
0:04:59 > 0:05:03By quarter to six, he was zooming towards the golden moon,
0:05:03 > 0:05:05and by six o'clock he was there.
0:05:05 > 0:05:08Bob welcomed the tourists with a free mini pork pie and a speech.
0:05:08 > 0:05:13He performed his thrilling variety show and everyone went home happy.
0:05:13 > 0:05:17Everyone, that is, except Bob, who was alone once more.
0:05:17 > 0:05:22Quietly, he packed away his props and began his weekly crater count.
0:05:22 > 0:05:25And that's when it happened.
0:05:25 > 0:05:31There, popping out of Crater 204, was a little furry tail.
0:05:31 > 0:05:33What could it be?
0:05:33 > 0:05:36The closer Bob got to it, the faster the tail wagged.
0:05:36 > 0:05:41Then, as if by magic, something amazing shot out of the crater!
0:05:41 > 0:05:44No-one in the whole universe would have expected to see
0:05:44 > 0:05:47what Bob saw at that moment - it was a dog!
0:05:47 > 0:05:51The most smiley, springy dog Bob had ever seen.
0:05:51 > 0:05:54He had no idea where it came from or how it got there,
0:05:54 > 0:05:58but he didn't care. He didn't even care that it looked a little odd.
0:05:58 > 0:06:00All Bob knew was that, from this moment on,
0:06:00 > 0:06:03they would be best ever friends.
0:06:03 > 0:06:06It was as if it had been written in the stars.
0:06:06 > 0:06:08Bob called his dog Barry.
0:06:08 > 0:06:12And each day, with their friends, they would run and leap and play.
0:06:12 > 0:06:16Except of course on Tuesday lunch times. On Tuesday lunch times,
0:06:16 > 0:06:20they would bounce and bounce and bounce
0:06:20 > 0:06:21and bounce and bounce!
0:06:23 > 0:06:26That story was called Bob's Best Ever Friend.
0:06:27 > 0:06:32Hm, I wonder if I'll see any aliens when I go on Bob's moon tour.
0:06:32 > 0:06:35Maybe I'll need binoculars to spot them.
0:06:35 > 0:06:37I need to find those to pack.
0:06:37 > 0:06:40While I do, it's time for you to go to bed.
0:06:40 > 0:06:43I'll see you soon for another story. Night-night!
0:06:43 > 0:06:45Maybe I put them in here.
0:06:45 > 0:06:49They're in the backpack. I packed them already. Let's have a look.
