0:54:07 > 0:54:09Hello, hello, hello. My name's James.

0:54:09 > 0:54:11Are you all ready for bed?

0:54:11 > 0:54:13Have you brushed your teeth?

0:54:13 > 0:54:16Have you got your teddy bear with you?

0:54:16 > 0:54:20Small, in tonight's bedtime story, asks a lot of questions.

0:54:20 > 0:54:22Would you like to hear about him?

0:54:22 > 0:54:27The story is called No Matter What and it's by Debi Gliori.

0:54:27 > 0:54:31It's one of my favourites and I hope you'll like it too.

0:54:31 > 0:54:36Small was feeling grim and dark.

0:54:36 > 0:54:43Playing toss and fling and squash, yell and scream and bang

0:54:43 > 0:54:47and crash, break and snap and bash and batter.

0:54:47 > 0:54:51"Good grief," said Large, "What is the matter?"

0:54:51 > 0:54:55Small said, "I'm a grim and grumpy little Small

0:54:55 > 0:54:59"and nobody loves me at all."

0:54:59 > 0:55:05"Oh, Small," said Large, "grumpy or not,

0:55:05 > 0:55:09"I'll always love you, no matter what."

0:55:09 > 0:55:15Small said, "If I was a grizzly bear, would you love me?

0:55:15 > 0:55:17"Would you care?"

0:55:17 > 0:55:22"Oh, of course," said Large, "bear or not,

0:55:22 > 0:55:26"I'll always love you, no matter what."

0:55:26 > 0:55:31Small said, "But if I turned into a bug,

0:55:31 > 0:55:35"would you still love me and give me a hug?"

0:55:35 > 0:55:39"Of course I would," said Large, "bug or not,

0:55:39 > 0:55:43"I'll always love you, no matter what."

0:55:43 > 0:55:48"No matter what?" said Small, and smiled.

0:55:48 > 0:55:50"What if I was a crocodile?"

0:55:52 > 0:55:57Large said, "I'd hug you close and tight

0:55:57 > 0:56:01"and tuck you up in bed each night."

0:56:01 > 0:56:03"Does love wear out?" said Small.

0:56:03 > 0:56:09"Does it break or bend? Can you fix it? Stick it?

0:56:09 > 0:56:11"Does it mend?"

0:56:11 > 0:56:15"Oh, help," said Large, "I'm not that clever.

0:56:15 > 0:56:19"I just know I'll love you for ever."

0:56:19 > 0:56:25Small said, "But what about when we're dead and gone?

0:56:25 > 0:56:29"Would you love me then? Does love go on?"

0:56:29 > 0:56:34Large held Small snug as they looked out at the night,

0:56:34 > 0:56:39at the moon and the dark and the stars shining bright.

0:56:39 > 0:56:46"Small, look at the stars, how they shine and glow,

0:56:46 > 0:56:49"but some of those stars died a long time ago.

0:56:51 > 0:56:55"Still they shine in the evening skies.

0:56:55 > 0:57:00"Love, like starlight, never dies."

0:57:03 > 0:57:07That story was called No Matter What and I hope you enjoyed it.

0:57:07 > 0:57:11I think Small had all of his questions answered.

0:57:11 > 0:57:13Now, the stars are shining bright,

0:57:13 > 0:57:16so that must mean it's time for you to go to bed.

0:57:16 > 0:57:21I'll see you again soon for another bedtime story. Night-night.
