0:00:06 > 0:00:10Whoosh!
0:00:10 > 0:00:14Hello. I'm Manish. I've come to tell you a bedtime story.
0:00:14 > 0:00:20And tonight's bedtime story is set in outer space. Teddy's ready.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22Shall we get ready too?
0:00:22 > 0:00:28Great. Grab your space helmet... strap into the rocket.
0:00:28 > 0:00:30We're ready.
0:00:30 > 0:00:35The story's called Welcome to Alien School, by Caryl Hart and Ed Eaves.
0:00:37 > 0:00:43"Red Five, Red Five, this is Mission Control. Get ready for countdown.
0:00:43 > 0:00:48"Five, four, three, two, one -
0:00:48 > 0:00:50"blast off!"
0:00:51 > 0:00:54It's great playing space explorers.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57I'm just about to launch my new rocket when...
0:00:57 > 0:01:01"Albie!" Uh-oh, time for school.
0:01:01 > 0:01:05Mum hands me my bag and we climb into the car.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08I just have time to buckle in when...
0:01:10 > 0:01:11"Whoa!"
0:01:11 > 0:01:15The car whooshes up into the air, through the clouds
0:01:15 > 0:01:17and out into space.
0:01:17 > 0:01:20"This is awesome", I gasp.
0:01:20 > 0:01:24We cruise past planets, then comets and stars,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26and swoop towards a strange spotty planet.
0:01:27 > 0:01:31Mum puts the brakes on and we glide to the ground.
0:01:31 > 0:01:33There are spaceships EVERYWHERE.
0:01:36 > 0:01:41Mum opens the door and tells me to hop out. "Have a good day", she says.
0:01:41 > 0:01:47"Wait!" I cry. "This isn't my school."
0:01:47 > 0:01:53But it's too late. Suddenly, an enormous shaggy alien appears.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56"What's your name?" it growls.
0:01:56 > 0:02:01"I'm Albie", I tremble. "Please don't eat me."
0:02:01 > 0:02:05"Oh, I never eat my friends", grins the alien.
0:02:05 > 0:02:10"I'm Noggle. Come on, we'll be late."
0:02:10 > 0:02:15Our teacher is called Mr Crark. He looks very strange indeed.
0:02:15 > 0:02:18"Welcome to alien school", he gurgles.
0:02:20 > 0:02:22Everyone is starting at me.
0:02:22 > 0:02:23I try to blend in,
0:02:23 > 0:02:27- but Mr Crark asks the class to guess what kind of creature- I- am.
0:02:27 > 0:02:30It's SO embarrassing.
0:02:30 > 0:02:34"Is it an ogleblob?" asks a pink alien.
0:02:34 > 0:02:40"No, it's a durkle!", says a long-nosed yellow creature.
0:02:40 > 0:02:45"Actually", says Mr Crark, "Albie's a human from Planet Earth.
0:02:45 > 0:02:48"But don't worry, I'm sure he's very friendly,
0:02:48 > 0:02:51"and almost certainly won't bite."
0:02:51 > 0:02:54First, we have to do spellings.
0:02:54 > 0:02:59"Spell...bazoozlesquark", says Mr Crark.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02"Spell...flobbedy-obbedy-pimpom.
0:03:04 > 0:03:08"Spell...togtogdenoggleplob."
0:03:08 > 0:03:12"This is hopeless, I can't spell anything!"
0:03:12 > 0:03:16"Don't worry", says Noggle, "it's always hard at first."
0:03:18 > 0:03:24Next, we have to do sums. Now, I love maths, but space sums are impossible.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26I can't even recognise the numbers.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31Just then, a loud alarm starts to ring.
0:03:31 > 0:03:38Phew. "Lunchtime", shouts Noggle, and we all rush for the door.
0:03:38 > 0:03:43The canteen is packed with the strangest creatures I've ever seen.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46Noggle pushes a button on a green nozzle,
0:03:46 > 0:03:49and "Splurk!" - something lands on my plate.
0:03:49 > 0:03:52"Eugh."
0:03:52 > 0:03:58"Mmm, space-ghetti, my favourite", grins Noggle.
0:03:58 > 0:04:02"Are you sure it's OK?" I whisper. "It seems to be glowing."
0:04:03 > 0:04:06After lunch, it's messy time.
0:04:06 > 0:04:10I paint a fierce T Rex, but space paints must be magic,
0:04:10 > 0:04:12because the T Rex comes to life.
0:04:13 > 0:04:16"Uh-oh." Quick as a flash,
0:04:16 > 0:04:20Noggle shoves a painted lollipop between its teeth.
0:04:20 > 0:04:23That should keep it quiet.
0:04:23 > 0:04:27We tidy up our things then rush outside to play.
0:04:27 > 0:04:30"Let's ride the scooters", shouts Noggle.
0:04:30 > 0:04:36Riding a scooter at home is easy, but these ones look a bit more tricky.
0:04:36 > 0:04:44Noggle zooms off. "Just push the red button and hold on tight", he says.
0:04:44 > 0:04:48But there are loads of buttons - and they're all red.
0:04:48 > 0:04:52I don't know which one to press, so I try all of them, and...
0:04:52 > 0:04:57"Whoa!" The scooter flips and twists, and I tumble through the sky.
0:04:57 > 0:05:02"Help, I'm heading for outer space!"
0:05:02 > 0:05:05Suddenly, something grabs me around the waist.
0:05:05 > 0:05:07It's Mr Crark's long arms.
0:05:07 > 0:05:10I'm saved.
0:05:10 > 0:05:13"It looks like you could do with some scooter lessons", he laughs.
0:05:14 > 0:05:18Noggle rushes up and gives me a big hug.
0:05:18 > 0:05:23"Sorry, Albie", he mumbles, "I thought you'd ridden one before."
0:05:23 > 0:05:26"That's OK," I say, "it was amazing."
0:05:28 > 0:05:32All too soon, it's home time. I rush up to Mum.
0:05:32 > 0:05:36"Can Noggle come for tea?" I ask. Mum smiles at my new friend.
0:05:36 > 0:05:41"That would be lovely", she says. "But Albie has swimming tonight."
0:05:43 > 0:05:46"See you tomorrow then", I sigh.
0:05:46 > 0:05:49"Have fun at the pool", calls Noggle.
0:05:50 > 0:05:53"Uh-oh."
0:05:56 > 0:05:59That story was called Welcome to Alien School.
0:05:59 > 0:06:03Albie had such an unexpected day at school, didn't he?
0:06:03 > 0:06:05And it looked like the swimming lesson
0:06:05 > 0:06:08was going to be an adventure as well.
0:06:08 > 0:06:11I think that Albie has got a great imagination.
0:06:11 > 0:06:15Now though, it's time for you to see where your imagination might
0:06:15 > 0:06:17take you while you're dreaming.
0:06:17 > 0:06:20Off you go then, get tucked up in bed.
0:06:20 > 0:06:25I'll be back to tell you another bedtime story very soon. Sleep tight.
