0:00:06 > 0:00:11Hello, my name's Frank. What do you do before bed?

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Do you have a bath or a glass of goat's milk?

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Well, Russell in tonight's story could do with some ideas to

0:00:18 > 0:00:21help him nod off for the night.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25The story's called Russell The Sheep. And it's by Rob Scotton.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Russell the Sheep lived in Frog's Bottom Field.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33At the end of a long, busy day,

0:00:33 > 0:00:36night fell and the sheep got ready for bed.

0:00:36 > 0:00:37BAA

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Soon, all was quiet.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Except for...Russell.

0:00:43 > 0:00:49No matter how hard he tried, Russell could not fall asleep.

0:00:49 > 0:00:55"Maybe if it were really dark," he thought, "I'd be able to sleep."

0:00:55 > 0:00:58But the really dark really scared him.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02"Perhaps I'm too hot," he thought.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05"Brrr! Perhaps I'm not."

0:01:05 > 0:01:08Russell pulled up a pillow.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10But the pillow hopped away!

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Hopping mad.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17"Maybe I need a better place to sleep," he decided,

0:01:17 > 0:01:18and went for a walk.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22Russell spied the boot of the rusty car.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24It was too cramped.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29He tried the hollow of a tree.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31CREEPY CHATTERING

0:01:31 > 0:01:33That was too creepy.

0:01:33 > 0:01:38Russell even tried sleeping on a branch.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40But it was too crowded.

0:01:40 > 0:01:41OWLS HOOT

0:01:41 > 0:01:44What's a sheep to do?

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Russell thought he would never get to sleep,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50but then he had a brilliant idea.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53What if he tried to count things?

0:01:53 > 0:01:56That would make him fall asleep.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Russell counted his feet.

0:01:58 > 0:02:03One, two, three, four.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Not tired.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11"Mm, I guess I need more feet," he decided.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15What next? The stars!

0:02:15 > 0:02:22Russell counted each and every one. One, two, three, four, five...

0:02:24 > 0:02:28..600 million billion and ten.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31And Russell was wide awake.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33He counted them again.

0:02:33 > 0:02:41Um, 600 million billion and ten. And still wide awake!

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Russell thought very hard.

0:02:45 > 0:02:51In fact, he thought so hard his hat went ziggy zaggy.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55"I know," he shouted, "I'll count sheep."

0:02:56 > 0:03:00One, two,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03three, four,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07five, six,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10seven, eight,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12nine.

0:03:12 > 0:03:17"Still awake," he said. And sighed.

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Then Russell realised he had forgotten to count one very

0:03:21 > 0:03:24important little sheep - himself.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Ten.

0:03:28 > 0:03:34Russell felt a tickle and a twitch and then...

0:03:36 > 0:03:38..sound asleep.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45RUSSELL SNORES

0:03:48 > 0:03:52By now it was morning and all the other sheep in the field

0:03:52 > 0:03:54began getting ready for the new day.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Soon, everyone was up.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01Everyone, that is, except for Russell.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03RUSSELL SNORES

0:04:07 > 0:04:09That story was called Russell The Sheep.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13What a great trick Russell discovered to help him get to sleep!

0:04:13 > 0:04:16But it's a shame it took him all night to find it.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20I hope the rest of the sheep let him enjoy a lie in.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22Now it's time for you to go to bed.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Perhaps you can try counting sheep to get to sleep,

0:04:25 > 0:04:27just like Russell did.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29I hope you have sweet dreams.

0:04:29 > 0:04:30See you again soon.
