0:00:07 > 0:00:09Hello. I'm Nadia.
0:00:10 > 0:00:14Mmm, this pie smells delicious.
0:00:14 > 0:00:19It reminds me of a great story about a very bad bear who bakes a pie.
0:00:19 > 0:00:21Would you like to hear it?
0:00:21 > 0:00:23Oh, great.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25The story is called Fabulous Pie,
0:00:25 > 0:00:30and it's written by Gareth Edwards and illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees.
0:00:30 > 0:00:35Deep in the forest, where the trees meet the sky,
0:00:35 > 0:00:38a very bad bear baked a very big pie.
0:00:39 > 0:00:43He made a crust pastry that was flaky, warm and wide,
0:00:43 > 0:00:47and he had a wicked plan to get a filling inside.
0:00:47 > 0:00:51So the bear stood in a clearing, and he said with a sigh,
0:00:51 > 0:00:54"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!
0:00:54 > 0:00:57"Who'll help to make the filling for my fabulous pie?"
0:00:59 > 0:01:00..said a mouse.
0:01:01 > 0:01:03"I will scamper.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05"I will scramble."
0:01:05 > 0:01:10And he fetched the ripest berries from the blackberry bramble.
0:01:10 > 0:01:15The bear put in the berries and he stirred them with his paw.
0:01:15 > 0:01:19But still, he thought the pie needed something more.
0:01:19 > 0:01:24So he clambered on a tree stump, and he asked the branches high,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!"
0:01:26 > 0:01:30"Who'll help to make the filling for my fabulous pie?"
0:01:30 > 0:01:33"Me!" said a squirrel.
0:01:33 > 0:01:35"Watch me tiptoe on a twig,"
0:01:35 > 0:01:39as she fetched a bunch of hazelnuts, delicious, brown and big.
0:01:41 > 0:01:46Then the bear poured in the hazelnuts and gave a cautious smell.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48NADIA SNIFFS
0:01:48 > 0:01:53But he said he thought the mixture wasn't working very well.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56So he called out down a burrow, with a tear in his eye,
0:01:56 > 0:01:59"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!
0:01:59 > 0:02:03"Who'll help to make the filling for my fabulous pie?"
0:02:03 > 0:02:05"Me!" said a badger.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07"I can search the hollow trees."
0:02:07 > 0:02:12And he brought a comb of honey with a few squashed bees.
0:02:12 > 0:02:16Then the bear put in the honey and he tried a little bite,
0:02:16 > 0:02:21but still he thought the mixture didn't taste exactly right.
0:02:22 > 0:02:26So he called across the river, and he sounded rather sly.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!
0:02:29 > 0:02:33"Who'll help to make the filling for my fabulous pie?"
0:02:33 > 0:02:37"Us!" said the otter, who was playing with her daughter.
0:02:37 > 0:02:42And they pulled a fine, fresh salmon from the chilly river water.
0:02:42 > 0:02:46So the bear picked up the salmon, and he mixed it slowly in.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50But still he thought the recipe was looking rather thin.
0:02:50 > 0:02:55Then the bear put on his napkin, and he gave it one more try.
0:02:55 > 0:02:57"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!"
0:02:57 > 0:03:01"Who'll help to make the filling for my fabulous pie?"
0:03:01 > 0:03:03The animals grew grumpy.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05"You are being very rude.
0:03:05 > 0:03:10"Berries, honey, nuts and salmon, those are all our favourite food."
0:03:10 > 0:03:14But the bear turned to the animals and gave a funny stare.
0:03:14 > 0:03:16And he said,
0:03:16 > 0:03:19"I know a filling that is better for a bear."
0:03:19 > 0:03:23And he shoved them in the pie crust, then they all began to cry.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25"Terrible pie, terrible pie!
0:03:25 > 0:03:30"You can't make us the filling for your terrible pie."
0:03:30 > 0:03:34The animals all wriggled, and their furry paws they thrust
0:03:34 > 0:03:38through the warm and flaky pastry till their legs stuck out the crust.
0:03:38 > 0:03:43And off along the river bank they made a desperate dash.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46Then the bear tripped on his rolling pin...
0:03:46 > 0:03:47SPLASH!
0:03:47 > 0:03:50and fell in with a splash.
0:03:50 > 0:03:54Then deep in the forest, where the trees meet the sky,
0:03:54 > 0:03:59the squirrel, mouse and badger and the otters shared the pie.
0:03:59 > 0:04:03And they all called out, as they waved goodbye
0:04:03 > 0:04:07to the very bad bear as he floated by.
0:04:07 > 0:04:12"Fabulous pie, fabulous pie!
0:04:12 > 0:04:15"How kind of you to bake us such a fabulous pie!"
0:04:17 > 0:04:21I'm glad the animals had a slice of the fabulous pie
0:04:21 > 0:04:23instead of being in it.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26It's bedtime now, so let's say goodnight.
0:04:26 > 0:04:30Sleep tight. I'll see you again very soon.
