0:00:07 > 0:00:09Hello, my name's Nadiya.

0:00:09 > 0:00:14I'm quite small and often wonder what it would be like to be tall.

0:00:14 > 0:00:19Willa, in tonight's Bedtime Story, is thinking about just that, too.

0:00:19 > 0:00:23The story is called Tell Me What It's Like To Be Big

0:00:23 > 0:00:26and it's by Joyce Dunbar and Debi Gliori.

0:00:27 > 0:00:33Morning peeped through the window. Willa was first to wake up.

0:00:33 > 0:00:40She put on her jumpsuit this way and that way until it was right.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43Then Willa put on her chicken slippers

0:00:43 > 0:00:47and went downstairs to have breakfast. No-one else was around.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51She tried to reach the bread and honey and the oats

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and the milk and the apples.

0:00:53 > 0:00:59She tried this way and that way but Willa couldn't reach.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Back she went upstairs.

0:01:01 > 0:01:05"Willoughby?" she called, "are you awake?"

0:01:05 > 0:01:09"I am now!" "I'm hungry," said Willa.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11"Then go and get something to eat!"

0:01:11 > 0:01:16"I can't reach," said Willa, "will you come and reach for me?"

0:01:16 > 0:01:19SHE SIGHS Willoughby sighed.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22"OK, pass me my slippers."

0:01:23 > 0:01:28Paw in paw, Willoughby and Willa went downstairs.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31"You can reach because you are big," said Willa.

0:01:31 > 0:01:36"That's right," said Willoughby, "and one day, you'll be big, too."

0:01:36 > 0:01:41"Will I?" said Willa. Then they both settled down to eat breakfast.

0:01:42 > 0:01:47"How big will I be?" asked Willa. "Oh, very big!" said Willoughby.

0:01:48 > 0:01:55"Will I be bigger than you?" "No," said Willoughby. "Why?" asked Willa.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59"Because I got started first and I'll go on getting bigger, too."

0:01:59 > 0:02:02"That means you can wash the dishes," said Willa.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05"Sort of," said Willoughby.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09"Tell me what it's like to be big," said Willa.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13"You can do lots of things," said Willoughby. "What things?"

0:02:13 > 0:02:18"You'll be able to reach the lamp by yourself when you're big."

0:02:18 > 0:02:21"Will I?" said Willa. "Oh, yes.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25"And when you're really big, nearly as big as I'll be,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28"you might be able to reach the moon in a rocket!"

0:02:28 > 0:02:31"What else will I do when I'm big?" asked Willa.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34"You'll be able to stand in the shower, like me,

0:02:34 > 0:02:38"and turn it on by yourself." "Will I?" said Willa.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40"You'll be able to reach for a towel

0:02:40 > 0:02:44"and get dried by yourself," said Willoughby. "Will I?" said Willa.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48"And you'll be able to brush your own teeth without any help."

0:02:48 > 0:02:52"And will Spotty Ted brush his?" asked Willa.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55"He hasn't got any teeth!" said Willoughby.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58"And will I have to make my own bed?" asked Willa.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01"will I have to tidy my own toys?"

0:03:01 > 0:03:04"You won't have any toys," said Willoughby,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06"you'll be too big for toys."

0:03:06 > 0:03:08"Willoughby?"

0:03:08 > 0:03:10"What is it?" said Willoughby.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13"I don't ever want to be big."

0:03:13 > 0:03:15"Why not?" said Willoughby.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18"I always want my toys," said Willa.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22"I always want mine, too, but we won't mind, you see.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25"We'll have grown-up things instead."

0:03:25 > 0:03:29"But then I might have to do grown-up things!" said Willa.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31"Like what?" asked Willoughby.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34"Like go out of the door all by myself, like walk

0:03:34 > 0:03:40"down the road all by myself, like be in the world all by myself.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42"There might be nobody there!"

0:03:42 > 0:03:44"Spotty Ted will be there.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47"You can keep him for ever, if you like."

0:03:47 > 0:03:51"But I might not fit into my chicken slippers any more!" said Willa.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54"Then you could have some rooster slippers, like mine,

0:03:54 > 0:03:58"or some pom-pom slippers, like Mum's," said Willoughby.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00"I know! Let's go and see if Mum's awake."

0:04:00 > 0:04:04She wasn't, but they climbed in beside her anyway.

0:04:04 > 0:04:09"Oh! This is very early morning," she yawned, looking at the clock.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13"Why don't we just snuggle up for a while?"

0:04:13 > 0:04:17"Mum," said Willa, "were you ever small?"

0:04:17 > 0:04:21"I was," said Mum, "smaller even than you!"

0:04:21 > 0:04:24"And was I small, too?" asked Willoughby.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26"To me, you still are."

0:04:26 > 0:04:28"Tell us, Mum," said Willoughby,

0:04:28 > 0:04:31"tell us what you did when you were small."

0:04:31 > 0:04:35"Well, if I woke up too early in the morning, I went back to sleep,"

0:04:35 > 0:04:40said Mum, "why don't we do that?" And they did.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46I hope you enjoyed that story about Willa and Willoughby.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50There seems to be a lot of things you can do when you're big.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53To help you grow big, you'll need lots and lots of sleep,

0:04:53 > 0:04:55so off you go to bed.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59I'll say goodnight. Sleep tight! I'll see you again soon.
