0:00:07 > 0:00:10Hello. My name's Aaron.
0:00:10 > 0:00:15I've come to tell you a story about a rather adventurous tortoise
0:00:15 > 0:00:17who doesn't want to go to sleep.
0:00:17 > 0:00:21Does that sound like anyone you know?
0:00:21 > 0:00:26After the story, you must go and get tucked up in bed.
0:00:26 > 0:00:29Deal? Great!
0:00:29 > 0:00:32The story is called Ridiculous!
0:00:32 > 0:00:35and it's by Michael Coleman and Gwyneth Williamson.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40HE YAWNS
0:00:40 > 0:00:43"Winter is here," yawned Mr Tortoise.
0:00:45 > 0:00:48"Time for bed," yawned Mrs Tortoise.
0:00:48 > 0:00:54"But I don't want to go to bed," said Shelley,
0:00:54 > 0:00:57"I want to see what winter is like."
0:00:57 > 0:01:02"Ridiculous!" cried Mr and Mrs Tortoise.
0:01:03 > 0:01:07"Whoever heard of a tortoise outside in winter?"
0:01:09 > 0:01:17Soon, Mr and Mrs Tortoise were snoring, but Shelley went outside.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22A duck spotted her.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23QUACKING
0:01:23 > 0:01:30"A tortoise out in winter?" he quacked. "Ridiculous!
0:01:30 > 0:01:35"You don't have a beak. How will you break through the ice?"
0:01:35 > 0:01:42Shelley shrugged. "He's right," she thought, "I can't do that."
0:01:44 > 0:01:46Then she met a dog.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48BARKING
0:01:48 > 0:01:55"A tortoise out in winter?" he barked. "Ridiculous!
0:01:55 > 0:01:59"You can't run around like me. How will you keep warm?"
0:02:01 > 0:02:03Shelley didn't know.
0:02:03 > 0:02:04MEOWING
0:02:04 > 0:02:07Then she saw a cat.
0:02:07 > 0:02:12"A tortoise out in winter?" she meowed.
0:02:12 > 0:02:17"Ridiculous! You're too slow.
0:02:17 > 0:02:21"How will you get out of the cold?"
0:02:21 > 0:02:28Shelley wasn't sure. Shelley trudged up a hill, where she met a bird.
0:02:28 > 0:02:29CHEEPING
0:02:29 > 0:02:37"A tortoise out in winter?" she cheeped. "Ridiculous!
0:02:37 > 0:02:40"How will you fly home to your family?"
0:02:40 > 0:02:47Shelley gulped. "I can't fly," she thought, "I can't even hop."
0:02:50 > 0:02:54A tear trickled down her cheek.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57"They're right," she thought,
0:02:57 > 0:03:00"a tortoise out in winter is ridiculous."
0:03:02 > 0:03:06Suddenly, she slipped on some ice
0:03:06 > 0:03:11and began to slide down the hill, faster and faster,
0:03:11 > 0:03:16faster than the dog, faster than the cat,
0:03:16 > 0:03:22until she hit a bump and flew through the air like a bird.
0:03:22 > 0:03:27She landed on the pond and slithered towards her shed
0:03:27 > 0:03:29but it was covered with ice.
0:03:29 > 0:03:34"Ha! How will you break through?" laughed the duck.
0:03:34 > 0:03:38"With my shell!" cried Shelley.
0:03:39 > 0:03:44And she smashed her way through the ice and into her home.
0:03:45 > 0:03:50"You haven't been outside, have you, Shelley?"
0:03:50 > 0:03:53asked Mrs Tortoise, sleepily.
0:03:53 > 0:03:57"Outside?" said Shelley.
0:03:57 > 0:04:03"Whoever heard of a tortoise out in winter? Ridiculous!"
0:04:07 > 0:04:11That story was called Ridiculous!
0:04:11 > 0:04:14Thinking about being outside in the cold and ice has made me
0:04:14 > 0:04:16feel a bit chilly.
0:04:16 > 0:04:21I'm glad it's time to get tucked up warm and cosy in bed.
