0:00:43 > 0:00:47The neat rows of houses had charming front gardens,

0:00:47 > 0:00:51with hedges and lawns that were trimmed every day.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56The high street provided whatever was needed.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00The river bank was perfect for picnics in May.

0:01:00 > 0:01:06Oh, yes - Poppledown Town was the loveliest town,

0:01:06 > 0:01:10and everyone who lived there agreed.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14Amelia Topping loved shopping.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17She skipped down the aisles of Poppledown Market,

0:01:17 > 0:01:22selecting her salads, her cheese and cold meats.

0:01:22 > 0:01:27She paused at the freezers, and chose all her favourites.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31Then filled up her trolley with doughnuts and treats.

0:01:31 > 0:01:36Oh, yes. Amelia Topping loved shopping.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Until the dragons came.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Frederick Creeding loved reading.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50He hurried each morning to Poppledown Library,

0:01:50 > 0:01:54treasuring the hush as he browsed along rows.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58He liked choosing stories then reading them quietly,

0:01:58 > 0:02:02and the click of the stamp on each book that he chose.

0:02:02 > 0:02:07Oh, yes. Frederick Creeding loved reading.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Until the dragons came.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Olivia Turning loved learning.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21She sat on the carpet at Poppledown Playgroup,

0:02:21 > 0:02:25eager for stories and songs with Miss Twee.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28She carefully moulded her plasticine biscuits,

0:02:28 > 0:02:32ready to use in her teddy bear's tea.

0:02:32 > 0:02:37Oh, yes. Olivia Turning loved learning.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Until the dragons came.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Soon, Olivia Turning hated learning,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Frederick Creeding avoided reading,

0:02:49 > 0:02:53and Amelia Topping stopped shopping.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56For Poppledown Town just wasn't the same,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58since the dragons came.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02But Jeremy Stamping loved camping.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07He set up his tent on Poppledown Common -

0:03:07 > 0:03:10a holiday village of orange and red.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13He checked all the guy ropes, the pegs and the zippers,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17then sizzled his sausages and pumped up his bed.

0:03:17 > 0:03:23Oh, yes. Jeremy Stamping loved camping.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27Until the rain came. RAIN PATTERS

0:03:27 > 0:03:31It drummed on the canvas, like zebras tap-dancing.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35It hammered the flysheets and trickled down poles.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38It seeped into sleeping bags, gathered in puddles.

0:03:38 > 0:03:42The campers were soggy and hungry and cold.

0:03:43 > 0:03:47Until the dragons came.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51They spread out their wings and provided a shelter.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55They dried up the puddles, cooked sausages to share.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59The campers saw kindness, and talked with the dragons.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03They realised quite quickly they had not been fair.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06They explained to the dragons just how they'd annoyed them,

0:04:06 > 0:04:10with clumsy behaviour and the mess that they'd made.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14The dragons said "Sorry" - they'd meant to be friendly.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18They'd try to be careful and calm if they stayed.

0:04:18 > 0:04:23So, Olivia Turning went back to her learning,

0:04:23 > 0:04:26Frederick Creeding continued reading,

0:04:26 > 0:04:31and Amelia Topping only went shopping on Wednesdays...

0:04:31 > 0:04:33when the dragons came.

0:04:35 > 0:04:39Who ever would have thought that such a friendly bunch of dragons

0:04:39 > 0:04:42could cause such chaos?

0:04:42 > 0:04:46In the end, everyone found a way to get along.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49It's bedtime for dragons, now.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52And it's bedtime for you, as well.
