0:00:08 > 0:00:11Are you ready to go on a magical adventure
0:00:11 > 0:00:14in tonight's Bedtime Story, with me, Rebecca?
0:00:14 > 0:00:15Brilliant!
0:00:15 > 0:00:19It's all about a little girl who loves to draw, just like me.
0:00:19 > 0:00:23And it's called Doodle Girl and the Monkey Mystery
0:00:23 > 0:00:26and it's by Suzanne Smith and Lindsay Taylor,
0:00:26 > 0:00:29with pictures by Marnie Maurri.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34This is Doodle Girl.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37She lives in a big red sketch book.
0:00:37 > 0:00:40But it's not just any sketch book.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42It's a magic sketch book.
0:00:42 > 0:00:46And Doodle Girl has a magic pencil too.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49Whenever she whispers the words,
0:00:49 > 0:00:51"Draw, draw, draw,"
0:00:51 > 0:00:55amazing adventures begin to unfold.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57All it takes is a doodle.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02One day, Doodle Girl was taking a stroll with her friends,
0:01:02 > 0:01:06when they discovered a pointy shape in the sketch book.
0:01:08 > 0:01:12"Doodling daydreams! Whatever could it be?" said Doodle Girl.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17Mr Whizzy and Miss Ladybird wanted to play.
0:01:18 > 0:01:22Was it a see-saw? See-saw! See-saw!
0:01:24 > 0:01:26The Small Squeakies were sure it was cheese.
0:01:27 > 0:01:31It just had to be yummy, scrummy cheese!
0:01:31 > 0:01:34Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
0:01:34 > 0:01:36But Doodle Girl had another idea.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41"Draw, draw, draw," she whispered.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44And with a dash here and a dot there,
0:01:44 > 0:01:47and a squiggle of her magic pencil,
0:01:47 > 0:01:51the pointy shape soon became something fabulous.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55A magnificent aeroplane.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58"Ta-da!" said Doodle Girl.
0:01:59 > 0:02:03"Pop your goggles on, everyone. It's time for an adventure!
0:02:03 > 0:02:05"Let's go!"
0:02:05 > 0:02:09Up, up, up, they soared,
0:02:09 > 0:02:12through the clouds and across the shimmering ocean.
0:02:13 > 0:02:16Little Birdie spotted something.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19"Look, an island! Hold on tight!
0:02:19 > 0:02:24"This might get a bit bumpy!" said Doodle Girl.
0:02:24 > 0:02:27But it wasn't bumpy at all.
0:02:27 > 0:02:32Down, down, down they gently glided,
0:02:32 > 0:02:36until they landed on a beach.
0:02:36 > 0:02:39"Let's explore," said Doodle Girl.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42They followed a sandy path,
0:02:42 > 0:02:47which led deeper and deeper into the cool jungle,
0:02:47 > 0:02:53until they reached... a smelly swamp.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56"Haroooooo! Haroooooo! Haroooooo!"
0:02:58 > 0:03:02"Doodling daydreams! Whatever's that?" said Doodle Girl.
0:03:04 > 0:03:07"Look up! Look up!" said the Small Squeakies.
0:03:08 > 0:03:12It was a little monkey. He was dangling upside down in a tree.
0:03:14 > 0:03:16"Haroooooo!"
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Below him were two crocodiles,
0:03:18 > 0:03:22swimming in slow circles and watching him closely.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25Very closely.
0:03:25 > 0:03:27"He's stuck," said Doodle Girl.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29"We've got to help him."
0:03:30 > 0:03:34Suddenly, there was a load creak. Creeeaaak!
0:03:36 > 0:03:38The branch was breaking!
0:03:40 > 0:03:44But Doodle Girl knew just what to do.
0:03:44 > 0:03:50Whispering to her magic pencil, "Draw, draw, draw,"
0:03:50 > 0:03:56she swirled a dash here and a dot there.
0:03:56 > 0:03:58"Ta-da!"
0:03:58 > 0:04:01"A giant spoon?" asked Little Birdie.
0:04:03 > 0:04:05"Exactly," said Doodle Girl.
0:04:07 > 0:04:10"Jump, little monkey. Jump."
0:04:10 > 0:04:13Little monkey bravely let go of the branch.
0:04:14 > 0:04:18Plomp! He landed safely in the spoon.
0:04:20 > 0:04:24But the crocodiles had crawled out of the swamp and they were
0:04:24 > 0:04:26coming towards them.
0:04:26 > 0:04:29Squelsh! Squash! Squelsh! Squash!
0:04:29 > 0:04:32"Uh-oh!"
0:04:32 > 0:04:36So, with a quick "Draw, draw, draw,"
0:04:36 > 0:04:39Doodle Girl whisked out her magic pencil
0:04:39 > 0:04:43and drew a giant ice cream.
0:04:45 > 0:04:49"Crocodiles, it's dinner time!" called Doodle Girl.
0:04:50 > 0:04:55Everyone smiled, as blob after blob of yummy ice cream flew into
0:04:55 > 0:04:57the mouths of the hungry crocodiles.
0:04:59 > 0:05:02They soon had full tummies.
0:05:02 > 0:05:08"What a snip-snappy tasty adventure!" laughed Doodle Girl.
0:05:08 > 0:05:11And after an amazing ice cream party,
0:05:11 > 0:05:18it was time to go back to the pages of the big red sketch book.
0:05:18 > 0:05:21Doodle Girl looked at the pointy shape.
0:05:21 > 0:05:24"Now I know what it's for," she said to herself.
0:05:26 > 0:05:30And with a final, "Draw, draw, draw,"
0:05:30 > 0:05:34she doodled each of her friends a perfect little aeroplane.
0:05:36 > 0:05:38"Happy doodling, everyone!"
0:05:38 > 0:05:42I hope you enjoyed that story as much as I did.
0:05:42 > 0:05:47Imagine living in a big red sketch book, just like Doodle Girl.
0:05:47 > 0:05:50Maybe you'll dream of doodling tonight.
0:05:50 > 0:05:54Or maybe you'll go on an adventure with Doodle Girl herself.
0:05:54 > 0:05:57Sweet dreams. Night-night.
