0:00:22 > 0:00:25They have...blue backs,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27a red neck,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30and a beautiful tail.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33I know a story about a swallow, and his friend Chack.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36It's called Follow the Swallow.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Chack the Blackbird was learning to fly.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44So was Apollo the Swallow.

0:00:44 > 0:00:45That was how they met.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48"Hello, I'm Apollo the Swallow."

0:00:48 > 0:00:51"What do you swallow?" asked Chack.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54"Flies, mostly," said Apollo.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56"Who are you?"

0:00:56 > 0:00:59"I'm Chack. I'm a blackbird."

0:00:59 > 0:01:02"You look brown to me!" said Apollo.

0:01:02 > 0:01:08"I may be brown now, but one day, I'll be black," said Chack.

0:01:08 > 0:01:14"I don't believe you!" said Apollo. Apollo showed Chack his nest.

0:01:14 > 0:01:19It was inside the garden shed. "I won't always live here," he said.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22"One day, I'll fly away to Africa."

0:01:22 > 0:01:25"I don't believe you," said Chack.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Chack showed Apollo his nest.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30It was covered in a white blossom.

0:01:30 > 0:01:35"One day the tree will be covered in tasty orange berries," said Chack.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39"I don't believe you!" said Apollo.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43The days grew longer and warmer.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46The white blossom fell off Chack's tree,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49and some little green berries appeared.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53"They'll be orange one day," he told Apollo.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56"I don't believe you!" said Apollo.

0:01:56 > 0:02:01Slowly, the berries on the tree grew bigger, and changed colour

0:02:01 > 0:02:07from green...to yellow... and at last, to orange.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10"Now Apollo will believe me!" said Chack.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15He flew to the shed to tell his friend about the orange berries.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17"Come to the tree!"

0:02:17 > 0:02:19But Apollo had gone!

0:02:19 > 0:02:23He and the other swallows had just set off for Africa.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Chack flew after the swallows. He flew until he reached the sea.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31There he met a jumpy dolphin.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34"Can you take a message to Apollo the Swallow,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37"from Chack the Blackbird? He's on his way to Africa."

0:02:37 > 0:02:41"Oooh! What's the message?" asked the dolphin.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43"Come to the tree!" said Chack.

0:02:43 > 0:02:48And he flew back to eat some of the tasty orange berries.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52The jumpy dolphin swam and leapt and dived.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55It took him a long time to reach Africa.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58There, the dolphin met a grumpy camel.

0:02:58 > 0:03:03"Can you take a message to Apollo the Swallow, from Chack the Blackbird?"

0:03:03 > 0:03:06"What's the message?"

0:03:06 > 0:03:08"Uh...

0:03:08 > 0:03:11"Jump in the sea!" said the dolphin.

0:03:11 > 0:03:16The grumpy camel trudged slowly across the desert

0:03:16 > 0:03:19until he reached a wide river.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22There, he met a greedy crocodile.

0:03:22 > 0:03:29"Can you take a message to Apollo the Swallow, from Chack the Blackbird?"

0:03:29 > 0:03:32"What's the message?" asked the crocodile.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34"Uh...

0:03:34 > 0:03:38"Grumpy, like me."

0:03:38 > 0:03:40The greedy crocodile took his time

0:03:40 > 0:03:44swimming and snapping his way down the river

0:03:44 > 0:03:48until he came to a forest. There he met a playful monkey.

0:03:48 > 0:03:53"Can you take a message to Apollo the Swallow, from Chack the Blackbird?"

0:03:53 > 0:03:55"What's the message?"

0:03:55 > 0:04:00"Uh...a monkey, for tea!" said the crocodile.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04The playful monkey swung from branch to branch

0:04:04 > 0:04:06until he came to a fig tree.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09On the ground lay a lot of rotten figs.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Feeding on the figs were a lot of fruit flies,

0:04:12 > 0:04:17and snapping at the fruit flies were a lot of swallows!

0:04:17 > 0:04:21"I've got a message for Apollo the Swallow!" said the monkey.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24"That's me!" said one of the swallows.

0:04:24 > 0:04:28"It's from Chack the Blackbird, and the message is...uh...

0:04:28 > 0:04:30"Uh...

0:04:30 > 0:04:33"One, two, three, wheeeeee!"

0:04:33 > 0:04:38"One, two, three, wheeee? That's a funny message!"

0:04:38 > 0:04:41"Well, I've been in Africa for half a year now,

0:04:41 > 0:04:44"it's time for me to fly back to the garden,

0:04:44 > 0:04:46"I can find out what Chack means."

0:04:46 > 0:04:52Apollo and the other swallows flew back until they reached the garden.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Apollo flew to Chack's tree.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57It was covered in white blossom.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00A big blackbird flew down from the tree.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04"I'm looking for my friend Chack," said Apollo.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06"That's me!" said the blackbird.

0:05:07 > 0:05:12"I don't believe you," said Apollo, "you're black and Chack was brown!"

0:05:12 > 0:05:15"I'm Chack, sure as eggs are eggs!" said Chack.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19"Talking of eggs, I've got something to show you!"

0:05:19 > 0:05:23"So the message wasn't, 'One, two, three, wheee!'

0:05:23 > 0:05:25"It was, 'One, two, three eggs!'" he said.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28"But the message wasn't about the eggs,

0:05:28 > 0:05:30"it was about the berries!" said Chack.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34"I ate lots of them. The rest fell off the tree in winter,

0:05:34 > 0:05:37"but in the spring there were some new buds.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39"Now the white blossom is back,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42"and in the autumn there'll be some more orange berries!

0:05:42 > 0:05:45"You must believe me, Apollo!"

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Apollo thought hard.

0:05:48 > 0:05:51"All right then, I believe you!" he said.

0:05:51 > 0:05:55And that was the story called Follow The Swallow.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13While I look, it's time for you to head to bed,
