0:00:07 > 0:00:09Hello, and welcome to the jungle.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11- My name is Mark. - And my name is Sam.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14And we're going to read you a bedtime story,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17- all about a little mouse. - And a big lion.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19The story is called The Lion Inside

0:00:19 > 0:00:24and it's by Rachel Bright and illustrated by Jim Field.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28In a dry, dusty place, where the sand sparkled gold

0:00:28 > 0:00:32stood a mighty, flat rock all craggy and old.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34And under that rock in a tiny full house

0:00:34 > 0:00:39lived the littlest, quietest, meekest brown mouse.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42He was so very tiny, so incredibly small,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45that nobody noticed him, ever, at all.

0:00:46 > 0:00:53- "Hello. Ouch."- He got trod on and sat on and missed out for stuff,

0:00:53 > 0:00:58- ignored and forgotten.- "Ouch!" - Yes, mouse life was tough.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Meanwhile, far above, on top of the rock,

0:01:01 > 0:01:05times were quite different - it was lion o'clock!

0:01:05 > 0:01:09This huge toothsome creature made sure everyone saw how

0:01:09 > 0:01:12important he was by how loud he could

0:01:12 > 0:01:14ROAR!

0:01:14 > 0:01:17He was head of the pack, he was shouty and tough,

0:01:17 > 0:01:21he loved showing the crowd he was made of strong stuff.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Yes, all were impressed by this mighty king cat.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26- "If only..."- thought mouse...

0:01:26 > 0:01:28"..I could be more like that."

0:01:28 > 0:01:32Then, late one dark night, in his mini-mouse bed,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35the cleverest thought popped into his head.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38He jumped from the covers and held up a paw.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40- "I've got it,"- he said...

0:01:40 > 0:01:44"What I need is a roar. Roar!"

0:01:44 > 0:01:47I mean, what if this mouse with the weeniest squeak

0:01:47 > 0:01:51was a little more grrr and a little less meek?

0:01:51 > 0:01:55Well, he'd still be the smallest of fuzzy brown mice

0:01:55 > 0:01:59but he'd make friends and join in and life would be nice.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01- "Yes,"- thought the mouse...

0:02:01 > 0:02:04"I must find out how, I will learn how to roar

0:02:04 > 0:02:06"and I will learn it now."

0:02:06 > 0:02:08But...mmm...

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Oh, my gosh, there was only one beast who could teach him

0:02:11 > 0:02:13this thing,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16but might make him a feast.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19It was time to be strong, take a chance, after all,

0:02:19 > 0:02:23forever was such a long time to feel small.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28So he made himself brave and thought like a winner.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31He set off for the top, hoping not to be dinner.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34It felt like the scariest thing he could do

0:02:34 > 0:02:38but if you want things to change, you first have to change you.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42The further he climbed, the closer he got to the slumbering lion

0:02:42 > 0:02:44reclining on top.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45LION SNORES

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Then at last, as he stood on his tippity-toes

0:02:48 > 0:02:51he found himself suddenly nose to nose.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53HE COUGHS

0:02:53 > 0:02:58"Pardon me, wake up, Mr Lion, you've got company.

0:02:58 > 0:03:03"Erm, squeak, Mr Lion, what I've come to you for is, squeak,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07"do you think you could teach me your roar?"

0:03:07 > 0:03:10A silence befell that twinkling plain.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Lion opened his eyes and puffed out his mane.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17Time slowed right down, it felt like a week.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Then he opened his mouth and let out a...

0:03:19 > 0:03:22"Eeeeeeek!"

0:03:22 > 0:03:25The lion was shaking, his paws all a-fumble.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28He was backing away with a scrambling tumble.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30"Don't hurt me!" he whimpered,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32"Oh, try to be nice."

0:03:32 > 0:03:36Well, my goodness, this lion was frightened of mice.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39"Don't worry," mouse peeped, "I'm a friend, not a foe.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43"Let's rock this together, we'll have fun, don't you know?"

0:03:43 > 0:03:48That was a magical moment for sure, when mouse didn't feel at all

0:03:48 > 0:03:51small any more. He had found his true voice

0:03:51 > 0:03:52and learned to speak out.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55And for that, you don't need to roar or shout.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59And from that day and always, the two were a pair.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02They both liked that rock better, now the rock was to share.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06The mouse, while still little, felt big in his head.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10And lion still roared, but with laughter instead.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:04:13 > 0:04:16Yes, that day they both learned that no matter your size,

0:04:16 > 0:04:19- we all have a mouse- and - a lion inside.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Oh, I loved that story, what a brave little mouse.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26Very brave. And now I know that even lions are scared sometimes.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29True. We'll join you again soon for another story.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33But now it's time to head off to bed and rest your head.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36You're a poet and you didn't know it. Night-night.
