0:00:03 > 0:00:06CBeebies Bedtime Story.
0:00:07 > 0:00:11Hello! I'm Mark. And I've been invited to a party.
0:00:11 > 0:00:14Would you like to join me? Brilliant!
0:00:14 > 0:00:18Put your dancing shoes on and let's visit our minibeast friends
0:00:18 > 0:00:20in tonight's bedtime story.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23It's called Twist and Hop, Minibeast Bop!
0:00:23 > 0:00:28And it's written by Tony Mitton, with pictures with Guy Parker-Rees.
0:00:29 > 0:00:32Down by the woods, I'll come and see
0:00:32 > 0:00:34here in the stump of a fallen tree,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37there's something strange that's made us stop.
0:00:37 > 0:00:41Goodness me! It's a minibeast bop!
0:00:41 > 0:00:44And, oh, what luck! It's just begun!
0:00:44 > 0:00:47Let's crouch down here and watch the fun.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50On come the ants with slickety-clicks.
0:00:50 > 0:00:54How many legs does each have? Six!
0:00:54 > 0:00:58And here come the beetles, looking so fine.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01They've given their shells a brilliant shine.
0:01:01 > 0:01:04But poor old Snail, he'll miss the fun.
0:01:04 > 0:01:08He set out late and snails can't run.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11He's feeling sad. He'd love to go.
0:01:11 > 0:01:15What a shame that snails are slow.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17The worms wriggle up so softly.
0:01:17 > 0:01:21Listen, and see how their silky skins can glisten.
0:01:21 > 0:01:25The slugs slide on. They made good time.
0:01:25 > 0:01:28They slithered here on gooey slime.
0:01:28 > 0:01:33Says Snail, "I know I'm not so fast, but maybe I'll get there at last."
0:01:35 > 0:01:37The ladybirds turn every head.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41They look so bright in black and red.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43But jeepers creepers, look at this!
0:01:43 > 0:01:47Did you ever see such ballgown bliss?
0:01:47 > 0:01:50The butterfly frocks bring gasps and sighs.
0:01:50 > 0:01:54Just see those colours and feast your eyes.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58From way up there, poor Snail looks down.
0:01:58 > 0:02:02And then his face begins to frown.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04He shrinks within his curly shell.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07Is he sulking? Can we tell?
0:02:08 > 0:02:13Do you hear the band begin to play? The dancing's getting underway
0:02:13 > 0:02:16as minibeasts, far too many to number, roll on,
0:02:16 > 0:02:19doing the wriggly rumba.
0:02:19 > 0:02:24Tiny piano and mini guitar get them doing the cha-cha-cha.
0:02:24 > 0:02:30Then, as the rhythm comes alive, everyone shakes to a jittery jive.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32Beetles boogie and bugs go mad.
0:02:32 > 0:02:36It's the wildest dance they've ever had.
0:02:36 > 0:02:41But suddenly, the music stops as bee band leader's baton drops.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45In that hush, they hear him shout,
0:02:45 > 0:02:49"Boulder coming! Make way! Look out!"
0:02:49 > 0:02:52And from the rim, with a rumbling sound,
0:02:52 > 0:02:55comes a rolling rock that shakes the ground.
0:02:55 > 0:02:57The minibeasts all look on in awe
0:02:57 > 0:03:00as it grinds to a halt on the ballroom floor.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03The beetles tremble, the insects wail,
0:03:03 > 0:03:07but from the boulder, out pops Snail.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11"Pardon me for stopping the song, but I simply had to roll along.
0:03:11 > 0:03:14"To slide down would have been too slow,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17"for then, I might have missed the show."
0:03:17 > 0:03:21Bee lifts his baton and gives a grin, then says,
0:03:21 > 0:03:25"Let's boogie. Band, begin!"
0:03:25 > 0:03:27The band pumps out a lively bop,
0:03:27 > 0:03:30which makes the minibeasts wriggle and hop.
0:03:30 > 0:03:34They jump and jive, they rave and shout.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37Even the woodlice leap about.
0:03:37 > 0:03:41And though he's slow, Snail moves with grace.
0:03:41 > 0:03:45When it comes to gliding, he's an ace.
0:03:45 > 0:03:48The glow-worms glimmer their shimmering light
0:03:48 > 0:03:51as the minibeast bop hops on all night.
0:03:53 > 0:03:55Wow! The party is still going on.
0:03:55 > 0:03:58But don't worry, it won't disturb our sleep.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01Maybe we'll dream of glow-worms glimmering
0:04:01 > 0:04:03and butterflies shimmering.
0:04:03 > 0:04:08Sleep well, and I'll see you soon for another bedtime story.
