0:00:06 > 0:00:11Hello, I'm Pearl. I'm just about to fix my spaceship.
0:00:11 > 0:00:15I love travelling through space and seeing all the planets!
0:00:15 > 0:00:18Our story tonight is about a girl just like me.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21It's called Interstellar Cinderella and it's
0:00:21 > 0:00:26written by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Meg Hunt.
0:00:26 > 0:00:30Once upon a planetoid, amid her tools and sprockets,
0:00:30 > 0:00:35a girl named Cinderella dreamed of fixing fancy rockets.
0:00:35 > 0:00:40She fixed the robot dishwashers and zoom brooms in her care
0:00:40 > 0:00:44but late each night she snuck away to study ship repair.
0:00:46 > 0:00:50One day, her wicked stepsisters came dashing in, excited.
0:00:50 > 0:00:54"The Prince's Royal Space Parade! Our family's invited!"
0:00:54 > 0:00:57"I wish that you could come, my dear.
0:00:57 > 0:01:01"Alas, no room, although why don't you fix that broken ship
0:01:01 > 0:01:03"and fly it to the show?"
0:01:04 > 0:01:09"My tool box!" Cinderella cried. "We're stranded here, I guess."
0:01:09 > 0:01:15But Murgatroyd, the mouse, sent out a cosmic SOS.
0:01:15 > 0:01:20"I'm here! Your Fairy Godrobot! I'll make you brand-new tools.
0:01:21 > 0:01:26"You'll need a spacesuit, too, of course - atomic blue with jewels.
0:01:28 > 0:01:32"This Power Gem will speed your ship across the starry sky.
0:01:32 > 0:01:36"It only lasts till midnight. After that, your ship won't fly."
0:01:36 > 0:01:38"Oh, thank you," Cinderella said.
0:01:38 > 0:01:42She quickly fixed the rocket then tucked the sonic socket wrench
0:01:42 > 0:01:46inside her spacesuit pocket.
0:01:46 > 0:01:50She zoomed past stars and nebulae and parked beside a moon.
0:01:52 > 0:01:57The Space Parade was glorious! Each starship made her swoon.
0:01:58 > 0:02:04At last, the Royal Ship approached! Her heart was filled with yearning.
0:02:04 > 0:02:10The ship of Cinderella's dreams! But heavens! What was burning?
0:02:12 > 0:02:17The Prince's spaceship jerked and hissed and spewed a cloud of grit.
0:02:17 > 0:02:22The Prince hopped out. "Oh, blast! What now? My chief mechanic quit!"
0:02:24 > 0:02:27But Interstellar Cinderella knew just what to do.
0:02:27 > 0:02:32She zip-zapped with her socket wrench. The ship was good as new!
0:02:34 > 0:02:39The Prince invited her aboard. Last stop - Galactic Hall.
0:02:40 > 0:02:45He said, "I hope you'll join me for the Gravity-Free Ball."
0:02:45 > 0:02:49They talked for hours of rocket ships. The time went whizzing by.
0:02:49 > 0:02:54Then Cinderella saw the clock and said, "I have to fly."
0:02:54 > 0:02:55CLOCK CHIMES
0:02:55 > 0:03:00"But wait!" the Prince called after her. "Please tell me how to find..."
0:03:00 > 0:03:05The girl was gone. But she had left her socket wrench behind.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11The Prince sent a transmission to the farthest edge of space.
0:03:11 > 0:03:17"I'll search the cosmos for her. How I wish I'd seen her face!"
0:03:17 > 0:03:20"The Prince's ship!" Grisilla screeched.
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Her sister squealed in fear.
0:03:22 > 0:03:26"The Prince won't marry one of us if Cinderella's here!"
0:03:26 > 0:03:30Their mother said, "Don't worry. He won't find her in this house.
0:03:30 > 0:03:36"I've trapped her in the attic with that useless robot mouse!"
0:03:36 > 0:03:40The Prince's cargo door revealed a broken craft within.
0:03:40 > 0:03:44"The girl I seek can fix a ship, so who'd like to begin?"
0:03:46 > 0:03:50He gave the sonic socket wrench to one then to the other.
0:03:50 > 0:03:55Alas, they couldn't fix the ship, and neither could their mother.
0:03:55 > 0:03:59Cinderella struggled, but the space rope held her tight.
0:04:01 > 0:04:06Till Murgatroyd's robotic teeth cut through it with one bite.
0:04:06 > 0:04:11"The ship! It's leaving! Wait, what's this?"
0:04:11 > 0:04:15She made a fast repair then strapped the rusty jet pack on
0:04:15 > 0:04:21and blasted through the air. She landed right beside the Prince.
0:04:21 > 0:04:25"That wrench is mine!" she cried. She quickly fixed the ailing ship.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28The Prince said, "Be my bride!"
0:04:30 > 0:04:35She thought this over carefully. Her family watched in panic.
0:04:35 > 0:04:40"Mm, I'm far too young for marriage, but I'll be your chief mechanic."
0:04:42 > 0:04:47Amid her fleet of sparkling ships and friends both old and new,
0:04:47 > 0:04:52a joyful Cinderella cried, "My stars!
0:04:52 > 0:04:53"Dreams do come true."
0:04:56 > 0:04:57Ah! I love that story!
0:04:57 > 0:05:02I think I'd make a pretty good chief mechanic, too. What about you?
0:05:02 > 0:05:06It's time to go to bed now and dream of journeys through space and time.
0:05:06 > 0:05:09Just close your eyes and count the stars.
0:05:09 > 0:05:12I'll be back soon for another Bedtime Story but,
0:05:12 > 0:05:14until then, night-night.
