0:00:07 > 0:00:08Hello.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10I'm Emily.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12I'm having a spot of bother.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14I'm trying to write a story,

0:00:14 > 0:00:15but I'm lost for words.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Wait. Maybe the Tapir in tonight's bedtime story

0:00:21 > 0:00:23can give me some help.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27The story is called Lost For Words,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30and it's by Natalie Russell.

0:00:32 > 0:00:36Tapir had some pencils and a nice, new notebook...

0:00:37 > 0:00:40..but he didn't know what to write.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43He stared at the clean page

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and tried to think of something, anything,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49but nothing popped into his head.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52It felt empty, just like his page.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Tapir's friends could write words easily

0:00:57 > 0:01:00about things that meant a lot to them.

0:01:00 > 0:01:04Giraffe was writing a poem about his favourite tree.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07He chewed its leaves as he wrote.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11"You are tall and thin, my perfect tree.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14"You reach so high, just like me.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17"Your leaves so juicy and good to chew.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19"Oh, precious tree, I do love you."

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Giraffe had a way with words.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29Hippo was in his muddy pool, writing an exciting story.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34"Once upon a time there lived a very handsome hippo.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37"One day, while dozing in the pool,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40"he heard a bird cry for help.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42BIRD CHIRPS "What a disaster.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44"She was stuck in the mud.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48"The very handsome hippo swam bravely to her rescue.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51" 'My hero,' chirped Bird.

0:01:51 > 0:01:56"Thank goodness the handsome hippo was an excellent swimmer.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57"The end."

0:01:58 > 0:02:01He always knew how to begin a story,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03and how it would end.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Hippo was very clever.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Flamingo was composing a song about the sun.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13She hummed softly as she wrote.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17# When the sun shines brightly in the sky

0:02:17 > 0:02:20# I feel so happy I want to fly

0:02:20 > 0:02:24# I stretch my neck and fluff my feathers

0:02:24 > 0:02:27# For me, sunshine is the best of weathers.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31# But when the clouds come and then the rain

0:02:31 > 0:02:35# My long, long legs become cold again. #

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Her song was so perfect,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41it brought a tear to Tapir's eye.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45SHE SIGHS I must be doing something wrong,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48thought Tapir. So, he tried humming,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50and wallowing.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53He even chewed on some juicy leaves...

0:02:54 > 0:02:56..but no words came -

0:02:56 > 0:02:58and the harder he tried,

0:02:58 > 0:02:59the crosser he felt.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04"It's not fair," said Tapir.

0:03:04 > 0:03:09"Don't worry," said his friends. You'll think of something.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11But Tapir wasn't so sure,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and he walked away.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Far away...

0:03:16 > 0:03:18..to a quiet place on top of the hill...

0:03:20 > 0:03:24..and there, Tapir looked out at the beautiful view,

0:03:24 > 0:03:25and began to think.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30Then, very carefully,

0:03:30 > 0:03:34he opened his notebook and unpacked his pencils,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36and without a word,

0:03:36 > 0:03:38he drew the sun,

0:03:38 > 0:03:40big and round,

0:03:40 > 0:03:43right at the top of his page.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46A bright sun, especially for Flamingo.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51Under the sun, Tapir drew the river,

0:03:51 > 0:03:53long and winding,

0:03:53 > 0:03:57down to the pool where Hippo liked to play.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00He added plenty of mud to keep Hippo happy.

0:04:01 > 0:04:06Next to Hippo's pool, he drew a tall tree.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Tapir covered it in fresh, green leaves,

0:04:08 > 0:04:11because he knew Giraffe would like it that way.

0:04:13 > 0:04:18When Tapir had finished, he looked proudly at what he'd drawn,

0:04:18 > 0:04:21but there was something missing.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26Three friends, so important that they needed a page all of their own.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31Tapir rushed back to show his friends what he'd drawn.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34SHE GASPS "How wonderful you are,"

0:04:34 > 0:04:36said Giraffe.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39"You draw so well," said Hippo.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43"It's beautiful," whispered Flamingo,

0:04:43 > 0:04:45wiping a tear from her eye.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Tapir didn't need words after all,

0:04:50 > 0:04:52not one.

0:04:52 > 0:04:56His colourful drawings said everything he wanted to say,

0:04:56 > 0:04:59and they said it perfectly.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03I'm really happy that Tapir found a way

0:05:03 > 0:05:06to say how he felt with pictures.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10In fact, he's given me an idea for a picture to draw.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Did you enjoy the story?

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Good.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18It's bedtime now,

0:05:18 > 0:05:21and you can dream your own tales.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24I'll join you soon for another bedtime story.

0:05:24 > 0:05:25Good night.
