0:32:06 > 0:32:08Hello, I'm Michael.

0:32:08 > 0:32:10Do you have a favourite animal?

0:32:10 > 0:32:11You do?

0:32:11 > 0:32:16Well I can't decide whether I like dogs or cats best.

0:32:16 > 0:32:17What do you think?

0:32:17 > 0:32:21And I can't decide whether to tell you my favourite dog story

0:32:21 > 0:32:23or my favourite cat story.

0:32:23 > 0:32:26So why don't I tell you them both?

0:32:26 > 0:32:31The first is about a cat called Slinky Malinki Catflaps.

0:32:32 > 0:32:36The house was asleep. It was silent and still.

0:32:36 > 0:32:39With flickering shadows on ceiling and sill.

0:32:39 > 0:32:43Slinky Malinki was cosy and snug,

0:32:43 > 0:32:46curled in a ball on the raggedy rug.

0:32:46 > 0:32:51He opened an eye, inspected his toes,

0:32:51 > 0:32:54and washed from his tail to the tip of his nose.

0:32:54 > 0:32:58He wiped round an ear with a delicate paw

0:32:58 > 0:33:04and stretched as he silently slipped through the door.

0:33:04 > 0:33:08Whiskers all twitching and eyes shining bright,

0:33:08 > 0:33:12he squeezed through his cat flap and into the night.

0:33:12 > 0:33:17He prowled round the garden and smelled every smell,

0:33:17 > 0:33:18from the rambling rose,

0:33:18 > 0:33:20to the snail in its shell.

0:33:20 > 0:33:24Then, with a curious questioning call,

0:33:24 > 0:33:28he sprang to the top of the tumbled down wall.

0:33:28 > 0:33:31"Prrrrow?!" he called.

0:33:31 > 0:33:36Out of a bush, at the end of the wall came two creeping shadows,

0:33:36 > 0:33:38one big and one small.

0:33:38 > 0:33:41Slipping and slithering, scrambling down,

0:33:41 > 0:33:46were Greywacke Jones and Butterball Brown.

0:33:46 > 0:33:49Next to the hole by the tunnel house door,

0:33:49 > 0:33:53furtively lurking were two shadows more.

0:33:53 > 0:33:57Up through the leaves of the five-fingered tree,

0:33:57 > 0:34:01climbed Pimpernel Pugh and Mushroom Magee.

0:34:01 > 0:34:05Down on the grass, by the cucumber frame,

0:34:05 > 0:34:08mysterious figures were playing a game.

0:34:08 > 0:34:12They tumbled and chased with a scuffle and cuff.

0:34:12 > 0:34:15The Poppadum kittens and Grizzly McDuff.

0:34:15 > 0:34:18From nooks and from crannies, from mischief and game,

0:34:18 > 0:34:21from every corner and crevice they came.

0:34:21 > 0:34:25They sat in the moonlight's silvery glow.

0:34:25 > 0:34:29Hobnobbing happily, ten in a row.

0:34:30 > 0:34:34But! Out of the hedge by the rickety seat,

0:34:34 > 0:34:38disturbing the birds in their feathery sleep,

0:34:38 > 0:34:42something was sneaking on pussy-foot paw,

0:34:42 > 0:34:45the cranky and crotchety

0:34:45 > 0:34:49SCARFACE CLAW!

0:34:49 > 0:34:53Then, all at once came the ear-splitting sound

0:34:53 > 0:34:56of a caterwaul symphony echoing round.

0:34:56 > 0:34:58"Prr-oow-oh!"

0:35:05 > 0:35:07"Waow-yee-aow!"

0:35:07 > 0:35:09It woke all the neighbours...

0:35:09 > 0:35:14From window and door came bellowing shouts and a furious roar.

0:35:14 > 0:35:16"Ssssh!" they all said,

0:35:16 > 0:35:22"What a rackety bunch. Stop that commotion and go home, at once!"

0:35:22 > 0:35:26With a grumbling growl and a scuttle of paw,

0:35:26 > 0:35:30off and away galloped Scarface Claw.
