0:00:07 > 0:00:12Another busy day helping people and saving the world. Good work, Teddy.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Hi, I'm Chris.
0:00:14 > 0:00:17You know, being a superhero can really be tough sometimes -
0:00:17 > 0:00:19you have good days and bad days.
0:00:19 > 0:00:23And that's what tonight's bedtime story's all about.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25It's called Even Superheroes Have Bad Days,
0:00:25 > 0:00:30and it's written by Shelly Becker with pictures by Eda Kaban.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34When superheroes don't get their way,
0:00:34 > 0:00:39when they're sad and they're mad, when they have a bad day,
0:00:39 > 0:00:43they could use superpowers to kick, punch and pound.
0:00:43 > 0:00:47They could shriek, they could screech with an ear-piercing sound.
0:00:47 > 0:00:48SCREECH
0:00:48 > 0:00:52They could crush wooden crates and bend metal gates.
0:00:52 > 0:00:56They could throw trucks and buses across several states.
0:00:58 > 0:01:02They could knock over buildings, like towers of blocks,
0:01:02 > 0:01:05and crumble the streets into rubble and rocks.
0:01:07 > 0:01:11They could use laser eyes to ignite forest fires
0:01:11 > 0:01:15or fling boomerangs to deflate the town's tyres.
0:01:15 > 0:01:18But upset superheroes have all sorts of choices.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21Instead of destruction and loud, livid voices,
0:01:21 > 0:01:25they burn angry steam off with speed-of-light hiking
0:01:25 > 0:01:29or super-extreme outer space mountain biking.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31They race to the rescue of people in need
0:01:31 > 0:01:34and delight in the joy of a super-good deed.
0:01:34 > 0:01:38They hatch super-plans to help banish world sadness,
0:01:38 > 0:01:42building fabulous theme parks for giggles and gladness.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47They chase wanted bad guys with supercharged zing,
0:01:47 > 0:01:52dragging hundreds to jail while police dance and sing.
0:01:52 > 0:01:55They track down and tame super-menacing beasts
0:01:55 > 0:01:59and transform pity parties to victory feasts.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02But displeased superheroes who don't feel serene
0:02:02 > 0:02:06could have super-temptation to cause a bad scene.
0:02:06 > 0:02:07SCREAM
0:02:07 > 0:02:09"Come on! Move it!"
0:02:09 > 0:02:10CAR HORNS HONK
0:02:10 > 0:02:13They could blast icy blizzards on hot afternoons
0:02:13 > 0:02:16or walloping twisters and monster typhoons.
0:02:16 > 0:02:20They could spin super-webs super-far, super-sticky
0:02:20 > 0:02:23and tangle up towns with their silk - super-icky!
0:02:25 > 0:02:28They could rotate the planet and mess up world time
0:02:28 > 0:02:33or sit back and relax while the world fills with crime.
0:02:33 > 0:02:36When superheroes don't get their way, when they're sad,
0:02:36 > 0:02:43when they're mad, when they've had a bad day, they could super-rampage.
0:02:43 > 0:02:47They could, but they don't, because real superheroes just wouldn't.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49They won't.
0:02:49 > 0:02:53Instead, they dig down to their super-best part -
0:02:53 > 0:02:56the strong superpowers contained in their heart
0:02:56 > 0:02:59and, using their talents, as true heroes should,
0:02:59 > 0:03:03they battle the urge to do harm, though they could.
0:03:03 > 0:03:06They acknowledge their sorrow, their anger, their pain
0:03:06 > 0:03:11and they wait for their super-emotions to wane.
0:03:11 > 0:03:15It's OK if they frown, it's OK if they sigh,
0:03:15 > 0:03:18it's even OK if they slump down and cry.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21But then they get up and they get on with their day,
0:03:21 > 0:03:23saving the world in their most super way.
0:03:26 > 0:03:28Wow, what a powerful tale.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31Our superheroes found a way to channel their energy and,
0:03:31 > 0:03:35if they can do it, so can you because you're a superhero, too.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38And do you know what all good superheroes need?
0:03:38 > 0:03:41A super-sleep, ready for new adventures tomorrow.
0:03:41 > 0:03:45So tuck yourself in with your favourite ted,
0:03:45 > 0:03:49and I'll see you for another bedtime story very soon. Night-night.
