0:00:02 > 0:00:05Soon, Starlight will scatter through the dark,

0:00:05 > 0:00:11so let's all look up at Stargazing Park.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Hello. Are you ready to do some stargazing with us?

0:00:15 > 0:00:20Last night, we looked up at the moon. There's plenty more to see.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24All we have to do - are you ready, everybody?

0:00:24 > 0:00:26All you have to do is look up.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36# When the night falls, Maggie helps us see

0:00:36 > 0:00:39# Wonders of the stars above us all

0:00:39 > 0:00:43# Turn the lights low, grab a cosy rug

0:00:43 > 0:00:48# Wrap up warm and snug, here we go

0:00:48 > 0:00:51# We're going stargazing

0:00:51 > 0:00:54# Gaze at stars shining bright

0:00:54 > 0:00:57# We're going stargazing

0:00:57 > 0:01:01# Spot a zooming satellite

0:01:01 > 0:01:04# We're going stargazing

0:01:04 > 0:01:08# Glimpse the moon and the planets above

0:01:08 > 0:01:11# We're going stargazing

0:01:11 > 0:01:17# So just look up, look up. #

0:01:27 > 0:01:33- Come and join us underneath the stars.- Hi, Chris. Hi, stargazers.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37- Hello, Maggie. - Welcome to the Stargazing Park.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Now, what can we see up there?

0:01:41 > 0:01:45Last night, we saw a beautiful moon. Can anyone see the moon tonight?

0:01:45 > 0:01:48No, cos it's too dark and a little bit cloudy.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Yeah, they're blocking the view, which is

0:01:51 > 0:01:54one of the problems with stargazing.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57When it's cloudy, it makes it very hard.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Can anyone see anything moving up there?

0:01:59 > 0:02:03I can see... I can see the clouds moving

0:02:03 > 0:02:05and a flashing light in the sky.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09- A flashing light? Do you think that an aeroplane?- Yeah.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Who else is looking for things moving in the night sky?

0:02:18 > 0:02:22- It's Robert the Robot. - Hello, stargazers.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26- We're trying to spot a comet, aren't we?- Yes.- Yes, that's right.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Come on, let's have a look. Ooh! Spin my cogs!

0:02:29 > 0:02:33I've struck cosmic gold already. I see a comet! I see a comet!

0:02:33 > 0:02:37I see dust. Oh, dear. That's embarrassing. Oh, dear.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40I can't let Maggie see a pair of dusty binoculars.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43I mean, she's a proper space scientist. Ooh!

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Quick, stargazers. Let's find that comet. See you in a bit.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Well, I hope Robert gets to spot a comet.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Is there a chance we could see one tonight, Maggie?

0:02:54 > 0:02:58It's unlikely but if we keep on looking and the clouds clear.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02They're made of rock and ice and they travel around the sun.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Because they travel around the sun, we only see them every so often

0:03:06 > 0:03:08when they come close to Earth.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12- Well, might I be able to see one through binoculars?- Possibly.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14OK. Let's have a look, let's have a look.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17Is there anything in the sky?

0:03:19 > 0:03:25- Oh, is that a comet?- No, that's just a bright star.- Oh, OK. Keep looking.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30- Is that a comet? - No, that's an aeroplane.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35- How would we know if it's a comet? - Comets are quite distinctive

0:03:35 > 0:03:39cos they have long tails coming out behind them.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42- Why does a comet have a tail? - That's a very good question

0:03:42 > 0:03:45and I know a clever robot who might be able to help.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Robert, can you help us?

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Downloading cosmic comet app.

0:03:52 > 0:03:56Neeap-neeap-space-dot- Halley's-Comet-boop!

0:03:56 > 0:04:00Boop! Boop! # Ground control to Major...

0:04:00 > 0:04:03# When you wish upon a... Rocket man! #

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Neeurgh! Oh! Oh!

0:04:05 > 0:04:09Right. Shall we see what's first, stargazers? Ee-ugh-ugh-ugh-oh!

0:04:09 > 0:04:13To make your comet, the first ingredient is dust.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15I'm sure we can find some dust around here.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18- Don't you think so, stargazers? - Yeah!

0:04:18 > 0:04:22- And what is it that robots love to do best?- Dusting!- That's right.

0:04:22 > 0:04:23Let's dust!

0:04:23 > 0:04:28THEY HUM

0:04:31 > 0:04:33Let's see what we've got.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36Ah! Well done, stargazers. Excellent dusting!

0:04:36 > 0:04:40You know, you should come down to Justin's house.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43We'd have the place spic and span in no time.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45Right, let's see what's next.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49Place the dust into the mixing bowl. Oh, right.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Well, let's pop that in here.

0:04:51 > 0:04:55Let's put our dust or silicates into the mixing bowl. There we go.

0:04:55 > 0:05:00Nyerp! Next, add the vinegar and water. Nyerp! Oh, right.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Vinegar and water. Vinegar from Justin's chips.

0:05:03 > 0:05:07And we add some water. Here we go.

0:05:07 > 0:05:12So, a little bit of H2O...whoa! Robert. Not too much. Nyer! Nyer!

0:05:12 > 0:05:17To make your comet, you must freeze it. Nyeer...oh! Right.

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Here comes the science part.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23Now, viewers, it's very important you don't try this at home,

0:05:23 > 0:05:24or you, stargazers.

0:05:24 > 0:05:29Only robots and space scientists like Maggie can try this,

0:05:29 > 0:05:32and remember to stand well back.

0:05:32 > 0:05:37So, to freeze it, I have some super-cold CO2.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41And one more for good measure.

0:05:41 > 0:05:42And...oh!

0:05:45 > 0:05:49- Oh, look at that, everybody. - Is a bit like making a snowball?

0:05:49 > 0:05:54It is like making a snowball. A big, dusty, dirty snowball.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57Oh! Look at that. We've made a comet.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00Look! I wonder what's next. Um!

0:06:00 > 0:06:04Neeer! Next, you must name your comet, like Comet Brian... Neeyer!

0:06:04 > 0:06:06That's enough out of you.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10Right, stargazers, what do you think we should call this comet?

0:06:10 > 0:06:16- Comet Robert.- What? Comet Robert? Really? Oh, what an honour!

0:06:16 > 0:06:18Oh, well. Thank you. Comet Robert!

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Well, right, shall we see what happens

0:06:21 > 0:06:26- when Comet Robert gets near the sun? - Yeah!- All right. Let's have a look.

0:06:26 > 0:06:30So there goes Comet Robert, getting near the sun. Look at that.

0:06:30 > 0:06:34When the comet gets near the sun, it gets hotter

0:06:34 > 0:06:37but the frozen bits don't turn to water, oh, no.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40They turn straight into a gas and that gas combines with all

0:06:40 > 0:06:43the dust and the dirt inside the comet and it forms

0:06:43 > 0:06:50the comet's beautiful tail and that's how a comet gets a tail.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52I've just realised. We've done it.

0:06:52 > 0:06:57We've helped space scientist Maggie answer her question for today.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59Yay!

0:06:59 > 0:07:01Well done, stargazers.

0:07:01 > 0:07:06Now, would you like to see Comet Robert go hurtling through space,

0:07:06 > 0:07:08- all around the sun?- Yes!- Excellent.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10This will require one of my inventions.

0:07:10 > 0:07:12Come back later, stargazers,

0:07:12 > 0:07:17when we'll see Comet Robert go hurtling off into space!

0:07:17 > 0:07:21Excellent science knowledge. Thank you for answering Oliver's question.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25It's every astronomer's dream to have a comet named after them.

0:07:25 > 0:07:29Now, who would like to play a game of pin the tail on the comet?

0:07:29 > 0:07:31- Yes!- Would you like to have a go?

0:07:31 > 0:07:34Now, what you have to do, take a look on this tray

0:07:34 > 0:07:36because these are asteroids.

0:07:36 > 0:07:41Oh! There's a meteor, a lot smaller, but there's a comet there as well.

0:07:41 > 0:07:46And here is the tail. Can you put the tail on the comet?

0:07:46 > 0:07:50To make it tricky, pull down your hat over your eyes,

0:07:50 > 0:07:51so you can't see,

0:07:51 > 0:07:56so you're just going to use your fingers to find the icy comet.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00See if you can find the comet. Can you find the comet?

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Is she getting closer? Yes, right there!

0:08:05 > 0:08:08So we've got our icy comet with a tail!

0:08:08 > 0:08:10This time, let's make the meteors

0:08:10 > 0:08:13and asteroids hurtle around as well as that comet.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17It's hurtling, it's hurtling! Wow!

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Towards you, towards you! Towards you. She's done it!

0:08:22 > 0:08:26- Well done, you've done it. - You've got it. Yay!

0:08:26 > 0:08:31Thank you very much, Imogen. Well, that's one comet with its tail.

0:08:31 > 0:08:36Let's find out if Comet Robert gets to hurtle through space.

0:08:36 > 0:08:41Right, Comet Robert goes into the comet aporter 2001. There we go.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44Oh, spin my cogs! I'm so excited.

0:08:44 > 0:08:48Now, stargazers, to the launch button. Come on! Here we go.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51Right, now, guys. Count down from three. Here we go.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55And three, two, one, blast off!

0:08:59 > 0:09:03I thought that was going to go further. That is disappointing.

0:09:03 > 0:09:08You see, comets travel through space for millions of years and...

0:09:08 > 0:09:13- Hmmm. Still, we had fun making Comet Robert, didn't we?- Yes!

0:09:17 > 0:09:22Nice try, Robert. Imagine if we WERE to see a new comet.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25We could call it Comet Maggie!

0:09:25 > 0:09:29I'm going to see if I can spot a comet now through the window.

0:09:37 > 0:09:40I've come up high to see if I can spot a comet.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43Last time I saw one, I was only nine years old

0:09:43 > 0:09:46and my dad was so excited for me to see it,

0:09:46 > 0:09:49he rushed into my bedroom - I was still in my pyjamas -

0:09:49 > 0:09:52got me out of bed, and took me over to the window.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54That comet was called Halley's Comet

0:09:54 > 0:09:59after the man that spotted it. Next time you get the chance to see it,

0:09:59 > 0:10:03you're going to be as old as your nana or your grandad is now.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07But you don't have have to wait until you're a granny or grandad.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09There are other comets that visit Earth

0:10:09 > 0:10:13and some don't even have names yet as they haven't been spotted by

0:10:13 > 0:10:18anyone else, so if you do see one, maybe you could name it after you.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21Well, we didn't manage to find a comet for Maggie

0:10:21 > 0:10:23but we have got a surprise for her.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26- Are you ready, stargazers?- Yes!

0:10:26 > 0:10:30- Oh, great, great, great! Maggie! Maggie, are you free?- Hi!

0:10:30 > 0:10:35- What's happening?- We have a surprise for you. Are you ready, stargazers?

0:10:35 > 0:10:40Ready, steady, go!

0:10:40 > 0:10:44- What is it?- And icy core with a long tail, going round the sun.

0:10:44 > 0:10:49It's a comet. I've got to get a photograph of this.

0:10:50 > 0:10:55- That's brilliant, guys. Do you know what the comet's name is?- No.

0:10:55 > 0:11:01- What's it called?- Comet Maggie. - Comet Maggie. Just for you.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Thank you so much. That's a dream come true for me.

0:11:04 > 0:11:10You were brilliant, stargazers. Time to get cosy for a starlight story.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14All of the stars have stories to tell.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17I wonder what the story will be tonight.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23# Starlight scattered through the dark

0:11:26 > 0:11:30# Painting stories for us all

0:11:33 > 0:11:37# Gather underneath the stars

0:11:40 > 0:11:45# And hear their wonders told

0:11:46 > 0:11:50# Looking up into the dark

0:11:50 > 0:11:53# The night is yours and it is mine

0:11:53 > 0:11:57# Looking up into the dark

0:11:57 > 0:12:00# The dark upon us all

0:12:00 > 0:12:04# Upon us all the stars will shine

0:12:04 > 0:12:12# Upon us all the stars will shine. #

0:12:12 > 0:12:16Everybody look up, cos I wonder whose story

0:12:16 > 0:12:21the stars are going to tell tonight.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Draco the Dragon.

0:12:24 > 0:12:30Draco the Dragon wished to race and secretly to win.

0:12:30 > 0:12:34He made a comet from ice and dust,

0:12:34 > 0:12:37a super speedy thing.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Off they hurtled through the stars.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46Spinning around Saturn,

0:12:46 > 0:12:49waving at Mars,

0:12:49 > 0:12:52tails growing bigger as they neared the sun.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56Their racing and chasing had just begun.

0:12:56 > 0:13:00The comet raced on and Draco gave chase,

0:13:00 > 0:13:03chasing the comet to outer space.

0:13:05 > 0:13:10Then back they hurtled through the stars, spinning round Saturn,

0:13:10 > 0:13:11waving at Mars,

0:13:11 > 0:13:14tails growing bigger as they neared the sun,

0:13:14 > 0:13:20racing and chasing was excellent fun.

0:13:20 > 0:13:24Well, that was a story of just a few stars but there are billions

0:13:24 > 0:13:30more to spot and you can see them on star maps on the CBeebies website.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33There we are.

0:13:35 > 0:13:39Thank you very much for joining us for stargazing tonight.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42- And thank you, Maggie. - It's been a pleasure.

0:13:42 > 0:13:46And we'll see you all for more stargazing tomorrow. Goodbye!

0:13:46 > 0:13:48Bye-bye.
