0:01:36 > 0:01:39Come and join us underneath the stars.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41Hi, Chris, hi, stargazers.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Hello, Maggie.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48Welcome to the Stargazing Park. Now what can we see up there?

0:01:50 > 0:01:52We're not seeing many stars at the moment

0:01:52 > 0:01:55but if we turn the lights down low...

0:01:55 > 0:01:56That's better.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00Let our eyes get used to the dark, and the more we look,

0:02:00 > 0:02:01the more we'll see.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06After a while you can see them, can't you?

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Takes a while for your eyes to get used to the dark.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12So now let's try and make some star patterns,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15because I can see three stars, one, two, three.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17What shape does that make?

0:02:17 > 0:02:20- A triangle. - That's right, a triangle.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Now I wonder who else is looking up

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and making patterns with the stars tonight?

0:02:33 > 0:02:35It's Gem!

0:02:35 > 0:02:36Hello, stargazers.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38We're trying to spot seven stars

0:02:38 > 0:02:42- that make a pattern called the Plough, aren't we?- Yes.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Now the Plough is made up of seven stars

0:02:44 > 0:02:47that sparkle like jewels in the sky.

0:02:47 > 0:02:51So let's see if we can spot it. Can you see it?

0:02:51 > 0:02:53- It's a bit cloudy. - And it's a bit orange.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56There are quite a lot of lights around here.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59We'll keep looking because we might see it soon.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03We went on a treasure hunt earlier to find some jewels.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Join us later to find out how we got on.

0:03:07 > 0:03:12I wonder if Gem used a treasure map on her treasure hunt?

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Well on the CBeebies website you can find some maps, they're star maps.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Look at this.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Here on this star map we can see the Plough.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23But we can also see it up there.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Can anybody see the Plough?

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Can you count the stars for me?

0:03:27 > 0:03:29One, two, three,

0:03:29 > 0:03:33four, five, six, seven.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36So that's the Plough.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39Why is it called the Plough?

0:03:39 > 0:03:43That is a very good question, Imogen. Why is it called the Plough?

0:03:43 > 0:03:48- I think we should best answer that in the Star Cafe.- OK.- Let's go in.

0:03:48 > 0:03:52So why don't we have a look at these pictures?

0:03:52 > 0:03:54Does anyone know what this is?

0:03:54 > 0:03:58- Saucepan.- A saucepan, yes. I've got another picture.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01See if you guess what this one is.

0:04:01 > 0:04:06- A spoon.- And then I've got this picture.- A plough.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Does anyone know what a plough is used for?

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Oliver, what you think it is used for?

0:04:11 > 0:04:13It's used for planting seeds.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16It goes along before the planter

0:04:16 > 0:04:18to make the ground more easier to plant.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21So each of the pictures has seven stars,

0:04:21 > 0:04:25and the pattern of the stars is exactly the same,

0:04:25 > 0:04:27but people have seen different pictures.

0:04:27 > 0:04:32Maybe the seven stars that make up The Plough could also be this.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34What do you think I've drawn here

0:04:34 > 0:04:36using those seven stars? Oliver.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39- A fishing boat.- Oh, thank you!

0:04:39 > 0:04:40You guessed my drawing.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42Yes, it's a fishing boat.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46It's actually out on the seven seas searching for treasure,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48and I wonder how Gem

0:04:48 > 0:04:52and her stargazers are getting on on their treasure hunt?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Ahoy there, stargazers, welcome aboard.

0:04:56 > 0:04:57Ahoy!

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Good to see you.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02Hey, look, I've got a treasure map here,

0:05:02 > 0:05:06- so how do you fancy coming on a treasure hunt with me?- Yeah!

0:05:06 > 0:05:10The map shows lots of different stars, that's where the treasure is.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12How many stars can you see?

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Seven. Shall we count them, just to check?

0:05:15 > 0:05:17One, two, three,

0:05:17 > 0:05:21four, five, six, seven.

0:05:21 > 0:05:22You're right, well done.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26So, where do you think all of these stars are hiding?

0:05:26 > 0:05:30- Around the docks.- We need to find them all. Can we do it?- Yes.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33Let's roll up our treasure map, we'll need that.

0:05:33 > 0:05:34- Off we go, let's go.- Let's go.

0:05:37 > 0:05:42So, the first spot is this one here, so Thomas, can you see it anywhere?

0:05:42 > 0:05:44Brilliant, grab it, let's go.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50Brilliant, come on!

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Yes!

0:05:57 > 0:05:58Yes!

0:06:00 > 0:06:04Fantastic, the last one, we have all seven jewels.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Let's take them back to the ship, follow me.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13Wow, they look great.

0:06:13 > 0:06:16But the treasure doesn't sparkle,

0:06:16 > 0:06:19- so how can we make it twinkle? - Look for a clue.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Good idea, let's have a look.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25Oh, maybe there is something on the back of the treasure map?

0:06:25 > 0:06:29There is, there's something written here. Ah, right, OK.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31Nathan, can you read it out for me?

0:06:31 > 0:06:34"Make the shape of a saucepan with a handle

0:06:34 > 0:06:39"to see the treasure twinkle bright and sparkle."

0:06:39 > 0:06:42Brilliant, OK, so, we need to find a saucepan.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Nathan, have a look in that crate for me. There we go.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49That's it, brilliant. We put our jewels in a shape like this.

0:06:49 > 0:06:53Can you put all these jewels into a saucepan shape for us?

0:06:53 > 0:06:55- Yes.- Come on, then, let's see.

0:06:55 > 0:06:56There's the first one,

0:06:56 > 0:06:58that's it, put it there.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03Yeah, very good.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06And the third one on the end.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Wow, they're twinkling.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11This shape is called the Plough

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and when you look up into the night sky

0:07:14 > 0:07:17you might see it there looking like a big saucepan.

0:07:17 > 0:07:18Hang on a second,

0:07:18 > 0:07:21there might be another clue on the back of the map.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23- Shall we have a look?- Yes.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26Thomas, hold it up for me, please, thank you. Let's see.

0:07:26 > 0:07:31There is another clue. Can you read this one out, please? Thank you.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35"Follow the two stars away from the handle

0:07:35 > 0:07:41"to find the North Star with the brightest sparkle."

0:07:41 > 0:07:44Oh, great, thank you very much.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47So now we can find another star.

0:07:47 > 0:07:51So it said to follow the two stars furthest away from the handle,

0:07:51 > 0:07:53that's these two stars here.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56If we follow them in a straight line,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Thomas, that leads over there. Walk in that direction

0:07:59 > 0:08:02and see if you can find another star. Have a look.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06That's it. There's a big barrel.

0:08:06 > 0:08:07What have you found inside?

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Treasure.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12Yeah, excellent. Can you bring it back for us?

0:08:12 > 0:08:13Let's have a look.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17Brilliant, we found the North Star, well done.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20The North Star is a very important star in the sky

0:08:20 > 0:08:22because it always points North

0:08:22 > 0:08:27and it helps sailors to steer their boats in the right direction.

0:08:27 > 0:08:31Thank you so much for helping me find all of this lovely treasure

0:08:31 > 0:08:34and we found the North Star and the twinkling Plough.

0:08:37 > 0:08:41Well, we found a twinkling Plough too, take a look.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44One, two, three,

0:08:44 > 0:08:48four, five, six, seven.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51So we can use the Plough to find the North Star.

0:08:51 > 0:08:52Do you know how to do that?

0:08:52 > 0:08:56You use that one and that one then go straight up.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59All the way up to the North Star. Thank you.

0:08:59 > 0:09:03Let's see if we can spot the North Star.

0:09:06 > 0:09:10To find the North Star we need to find the Plough.

0:09:11 > 0:09:13Oh, there it is.

0:09:15 > 0:09:19Now we just have to follow the imaginary line North

0:09:19 > 0:09:22to find that North Star.

0:09:22 > 0:09:23There it is.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27We found it through the window.

0:09:35 > 0:09:40I can see the North Star out of my igloo window.

0:09:41 > 0:09:46I'm in a place called Lapland, which is very near the North Pole,

0:09:46 > 0:09:50and the North Star is right above my head.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53While I'm here I'm hoping to be really lucky

0:09:53 > 0:09:56and to see something incredibly special in the night sky -

0:09:56 > 0:09:58the Northern Lights.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00The Northern Lights are caused by the sun.

0:10:00 > 0:10:04People travel from all over the world just to see them.

0:10:04 > 0:10:05They look amazing.

0:10:05 > 0:10:09I hope I'm really lucky and get to see them tonight.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15Didn't the Northern Lights look beautiful?

0:10:15 > 0:10:19We've seen so many beautiful things in the night sky this week -

0:10:19 > 0:10:24planets, the moon, and lots and lots of stars.

0:10:26 > 0:10:31Well, now it's time to get cosy, for one last starlight story.

0:10:34 > 0:10:38# Starlight scattered through the dark

0:10:41 > 0:10:46# Painting stories for us all

0:10:49 > 0:10:53# Gather underneath the stars

0:10:55 > 0:11:00# And hear their wonders told

0:11:02 > 0:11:06# Looking up into the dark

0:11:06 > 0:11:09# The night is yours and it is mine

0:11:09 > 0:11:12# Looking up into the dark

0:11:12 > 0:11:15# The dark upon us all

0:11:15 > 0:11:19# Upon us all the stars will shine

0:11:19 > 0:11:26# Upon us all the stars will shine. #

0:11:27 > 0:11:30Everybody, look up.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34Cos I wonder whose story the stars are going to tell tonight?

0:11:35 > 0:11:39Ursa Major, the Great Bear.

0:11:39 > 0:11:45Ursa Major, the Great Bear, wished to go on holiday.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48A holiday in the sun.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51Far away from the snow and ice,

0:11:51 > 0:11:54far from his home under the Northern Lights.

0:11:54 > 0:11:58So, off he set with his caravan,

0:11:58 > 0:12:01towards the sun, to get a tan.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05But the bear found sunbathing rather tricky.

0:12:05 > 0:12:10It was ever so hot, and ever so sticky.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13Even splashing in the swimming pool

0:12:13 > 0:12:16couldn't keep the Great Bear cool.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19He missed rolling in the snow and ice.

0:12:19 > 0:12:23He wished to be home, under the Northern Lights.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Now the Great Bear had travelled far,

0:12:26 > 0:12:30he needed help from the Northern Star.

0:12:30 > 0:12:35Leading him onwards to the snow and ice.

0:12:35 > 0:12:39Safely back home under the Northern Lights.

0:12:45 > 0:12:50How very helpful. The North Star was leading the Great Bear home.

0:12:50 > 0:12:54Soon it will be time for us to go home and leave Stargazing Park,

0:12:54 > 0:12:57but we've got to say a very special thank you to Maggie

0:12:57 > 0:13:01for a great week of Stargazing. Thank you very much.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02Stargazers, thank you.

0:13:02 > 0:13:07It's been wonderful. And remember, keep watching the stars.

0:13:07 > 0:13:10Before we go, get your stars twinkling.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13Can you do that for me? And let's get up and have a dance.

0:13:13 > 0:13:14Join in too.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Come on, stargazers.

0:13:16 > 0:13:22# Twinkle, twinkle, little star

0:13:22 > 0:13:27# How I wonder what you are

0:13:27 > 0:13:33# Up above the world so high

0:13:33 > 0:13:38# Like a diamond in the sky

0:13:38 > 0:13:43# Twinkle, twinkle, little star

0:13:43 > 0:13:49# How I wonder what you are. #

0:13:49 > 0:13:55- Well done, stargazers. Good twinkling. Bye.- Bye.
