0:01:04 > 0:01:06Are you ready for some marvellous movie mayhem?

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Well, this is where the magic starts.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13Coming up, we hear all about brand-new movie Big Hero 6.

0:01:13 > 0:01:14Here's the best part!

0:01:16 > 0:01:18There's more secrets of movie making

0:01:18 > 0:01:21when we show you how to create your own ghost.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23SCREAMING

0:01:23 > 0:01:26And Michael Sheen, super actor, takes on a new challenge

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but will he hit his mark?

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Oh, that was close.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33What do you think about that, Gemma?

0:01:33 > 0:01:34I think it's brilliant.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Yeah, I'd definitely have to agree with that.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39I always like that stuff where you don't even speak,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41you're just doing all the funny sound effects like going,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43"Aah-ooh-ee!"

0:01:43 > 0:01:46OK, let's try and do this next bit without speaking.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50Aah-ooh-ee! There's me getting a surprise,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53a DIY-blockbuster surprise. Here's part one.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00- Action.- We're giving groups of filmmakers the chance

0:02:00 > 0:02:01- to make a short film.- Woof!

0:02:01 > 0:02:05Armed with just a camera, a script and some home-made props.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09But little do they know they're in for a big surprise...

0:02:09 > 0:02:12You didn't know I was coming?

0:02:12 > 0:02:15..when we give them something spectacular

0:02:15 > 0:02:18to turn their home movie into a DIY blockbuster.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26Amariah, Joshua, Husnain, Nishant, Tashinga and Tyreik

0:02:26 > 0:02:28are making an action movie.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32- Jet packs, parachutes... - Explosions.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36But it's an action movie with a difference, it's a silent movie.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38It's the first time we've made a movie without words,

0:02:38 > 0:02:39so it's quite hard.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42It's about two twins robbing a jewellery store.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47So when they fly away in their jet packs, one of them

0:02:47 > 0:02:51lands in the prison yard, and the other one lands on the ship.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54And they end up in the same prison cell.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57- Action.- Our team are shooting their movie on their modern day

0:02:57 > 0:03:01camera phones. Or so they think. What the team don't know

0:03:01 > 0:03:04is that they're in for a DIY-blockbuster surprise.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Hello, I'm David Cleveland.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10We're taking them back in time with a mystery piece of kit.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Stand by, action.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15The team have started filming

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and have no idea what's about to happen when David turns up.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28They're going to be making their film using this 100-year-old

0:03:28 > 0:03:31motion picture camera, complete with five minutes' worth of film...

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Five minutes?! Good luck with that, then.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Cameras like this would have been used for the very first movies

0:03:38 > 0:03:41and this rare, historical piece of kit is just

0:03:41 > 0:03:44what the team need to get their film the silent movie look.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51When they first saw me walk out, I think they were dumbfounded.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55I thought he was a magician, to be honest.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58I thought he was going to pull out a rabbit or something.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00You'd struggle to take a selfie with that.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04Aren't we going to film it with this, then?

0:04:04 > 0:04:06We're going to have a go on this first of all to see how it goes.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Unlike most cameras we use now, this camera uses film.

0:04:10 > 0:04:15When you turn the handle, the film goes through like that,

0:04:15 > 0:04:17takes a picture and then moves the film down,

0:04:17 > 0:04:20takes another picture, moves the film down,

0:04:20 > 0:04:22takes another picture, moves the film down. See?

0:04:22 > 0:04:25And it takes more than just pressing a button to start recording.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27You've got to turn it twice every second.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31As you start rotating the handle it starts to take

0:04:31 > 0:04:3416 photos per second. You have to go smoothly.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38If it sort of goes in jerks the picture will be speeded up

0:04:38 > 0:04:40or slowed down and it'll go dark or light.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43This sounds complicated, I wonder

0:04:43 > 0:04:47if our challenge... I mean, surprise, will really help our team.

0:04:49 > 0:04:53Now, if you disappear under the cloth. OK, can you see the hole?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Even lining up the shot is much trickier with an old camera.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59When you had to look in to see where the camera's pointing,

0:04:59 > 0:05:01that's the difficult part.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03Can you wave that white thing a minute?

0:05:03 > 0:05:05When you look through the hole,

0:05:05 > 0:05:09it's like just a little tiny square thing and it shows upside down.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And it's dark and black and upside down.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14It is very confusing, you've just got to get used to it.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17I like your confidence. With the shot lined up they're

0:05:17 > 0:05:19ready for their first take.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Silent, standby, action.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33- Cut.- Excellent.- Perfect. - Now we need to set up number two.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37Time for a close-up shot, but with no zoom, the team have

0:05:37 > 0:05:40to physically move the heavy camera closer to the action.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47Can you imagine making a film on this? How long it took years ago.

0:05:48 > 0:05:51With that camera, it's not portable.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55It's too heavy to hold and it takes way longer.

0:06:00 > 0:06:04On digital cameras you can move around.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Imagine trying to take that to a 1D concert.

0:06:11 > 0:06:15Still to come on DIY blockbuster part two.

0:06:15 > 0:06:16There's problems with the props,

0:06:16 > 0:06:18worries with the wind...

0:06:18 > 0:06:20The problem was we didn't know where it was going to land.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23And it's all causing the camera's film to run out fast.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26Now we need to get this right this time, because there's film

0:06:26 > 0:06:29going through the camera, and we've only got so much.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39SPEECH IS MUTED

0:06:39 > 0:06:42Oops, sorry. Silent movies are just the best, aren't they?

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Two of my favourite actors have got to be Laurel and Hardy.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50If you dream of becoming an actor or an actress then here is some

0:06:50 > 0:06:51brilliant advice.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54My advice would be say yes to everything.

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Don't be too cool for anything apart from too cool for school, obviously.

0:06:58 > 0:06:59You want to push yourself and do you best

0:06:59 > 0:07:03but you should enjoy it as well because it is hard work.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06Help out. If a friend needs an actor

0:07:06 > 0:07:09to be involved in a play, say yes.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12Keep watching people because they do interesting things.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15Listen, make friends with people, learn, absorb everything.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18Don't give up on it, don't let anyone tell you differently,

0:07:18 > 0:07:20that you can't do it, or whatever like that.

0:07:20 > 0:07:21Just be fearless.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25Just stick at it because something good will happen.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30We ask the questions so you don't have to.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33Tom, Tom, we're over here.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Tom, what's the best thing about being an actor?

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Staying up late and eating pizza.

0:07:41 > 0:07:44It doesn't get much more random than this.

0:07:57 > 0:08:01Ella, specialist subject, Charlotte's Web.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Who wanted to take care of the piglet?

0:08:07 > 0:08:08A buggy.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11What colour is the tin of paint Templeton the rat

0:08:28 > 0:08:29Spider.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33According to Mr S, what is stickittodamaneosis?

0:08:33 > 0:08:36It's a rare blood disease.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38What song does Marta sing at her desk?

0:09:29 > 0:09:30- DEEP VOICE:- Rock Hard!

0:09:30 > 0:09:33But someone else who's rock hard is our next guest.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36My name's Amanda Foster and I'm a stunt woman.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38Doing stunt work you have a lot of training,

0:09:38 > 0:09:42you learn how to move, fall or react and use your body.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Stunt people are trained to do what they do.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48I have my motorcycle licence, jockey licence, my HGV.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51You pick up the skills along the way.

0:09:51 > 0:09:56Now, we asked Amanda to challenge two teams of super Cinemaniacs,

0:09:56 > 0:09:58Gower Films and Stunt-a-mania, to see who could

0:09:58 > 0:10:01come up with the best stunt sequence in our...

0:10:04 > 0:10:07But please, don't try any of these at home.

0:10:07 > 0:10:12Amanda will be asking, is it original? Is it possible?

0:10:12 > 0:10:15But, most important of all, is it entertaining?

0:10:15 > 0:10:18OK, we need to just move all of the dinosaurs.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21Gower Films kick off the action.

0:10:21 > 0:10:25A girl goes into the bank, she gets a diamond.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27And she notices someone's following her.

0:10:27 > 0:10:31So they run through a couple of alleyways, do a bit of parkour.

0:10:31 > 0:10:32- That's exciting.- Yeah, it is.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35They go onto a zip line down to the park. The girl with

0:10:35 > 0:10:38the diamond kicks someone off their skateboard...

0:10:38 > 0:10:39- Bit mean.- ..and tries to get away.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42She skates all the way up and she sees a firework truck.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46She jumps off the skateboard and the skateboard goes under the truck.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Skateboarder under the truck could work.

0:10:48 > 0:10:52She does a flip over the firework truck and there's a big explosion.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55She jumps into the water and the man that was chasing her gets

0:10:55 > 0:11:00eaten by a sea monster that comes out of nowhere and that's the end.

0:11:00 > 0:11:03That would work very nicely.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Next up, Stunt-a-mania.

0:11:05 > 0:11:09So it all starts off with a gigantic dinosaur chasing the fastest

0:11:09 > 0:11:11- man in the world.- Ah!

0:11:11 > 0:11:14And he stops at the water as dinosaurs can't swim.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18- And then he goes through this pipe into the sea.- Ooh.- Plop.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22- He starts riding a shark. - OK, it's possible.

0:11:22 > 0:11:26And then he finds more dinosaurs but then he jumps...

0:11:26 > 0:11:30- Onto the helicopter... - And he crashes down.- Ah!

0:11:30 > 0:11:32Gets on the rocket.

0:11:32 > 0:11:363, 2, 1, blast off. He goes into space and then the end.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42So what did Amanda think of the stupendous stunts?

0:11:42 > 0:11:43I loved their ideas,

0:11:43 > 0:11:48it reminded me of the big multimillion-dollar-budget movies

0:11:48 > 0:11:50we work on. Sharks, cars, explosions.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55- I love it. - And the verdict is...

0:11:56 > 0:12:01For originality, Gower Films scored eight out of ten

0:12:01 > 0:12:04and Stunt-a-mania scored nine.

0:12:04 > 0:12:08This sequence put together is very exciting and pretty original.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13For "how possible is it for the stunt to be recreated?"

0:12:13 > 0:12:14Stunt-a-mania scored

0:12:14 > 0:12:17eight but Gower Films scored

0:12:17 > 0:12:19a maximum of ten.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21The skateboard is really good. I quite like that idea.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24And I love the firework truck.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26- Yes!- For entertainment value,

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Gower Films scored eight,

0:12:28 > 0:12:31and Stunt-a-mania scored ten.

0:12:31 > 0:12:35Lots of action, lots to keep people sitting on the edge of their seats

0:12:35 > 0:12:40and their hearts pumping. So that means the overall winner is

0:12:40 > 0:12:44- Stunt-a-mania.- Yes!

0:12:44 > 0:12:45Way to go, Stunt-a-mania.

0:12:47 > 0:12:50One of the most famous silent-movie stunts off all time was

0:12:50 > 0:12:53done for real by an actor called Harold Lloyd.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56He did all of his own stunts, including this one which

0:12:56 > 0:12:59is really scary, definitely not one to try at home.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01Hang on in there, Harry.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03We're only halfway through the show.

0:13:03 > 0:13:06Still to come on Cinemaniacs.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08Michael Sheen, super actor, gets in a muddle

0:13:08 > 0:13:10when he attempts to hit his mark.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13Oh!

0:13:13 > 0:13:16We head behind the scenes with new animation, Big Hero 6.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21And if it's the scare factor you're after, it's time to get

0:13:21 > 0:13:24- yourself a ghost. - SCREAMING

0:13:24 > 0:13:27But first, it's part two of DIY blockbuster.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Six film makers are making a silent movie

0:13:33 > 0:13:36and they've been given the DIY-blockbuster surprise

0:13:36 > 0:13:39of a 100-year-old camera to film it with.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41But with less than five minutes of film

0:13:41 > 0:13:42to shoot their whole movie...

0:13:42 > 0:13:45There's 300 feet of film in there. That's going to last us

0:13:45 > 0:13:46about four and a half minutes.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49..the team can't afford many bloopers.

0:13:49 > 0:13:50Cut.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Standby.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54Let's hope this next scene runs smoothly.

0:14:02 > 0:14:03Cut.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05- Happy?- No.

0:14:09 > 0:14:10Cut.

0:14:10 > 0:14:11Your mask came off.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13It went a bit wrong a couple of times.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15We need to get this right this time because there's

0:14:15 > 0:14:18film going through the camera and we've only got so much.

0:14:18 > 0:14:22It's not like a normal camera that's got lots of gigabytes in it

0:14:22 > 0:14:23and all that.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26If the team aren't careful, they could run out of film

0:14:26 > 0:14:27before they finish their movie.

0:14:27 > 0:14:30- Cut.- I can't get it on properly.

0:14:30 > 0:14:33Tashinga had difficulties putting his jet pack on.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36What we've got to do is get all the rest of the scenes on that before

0:14:36 > 0:14:40that goes round, so we've got to make sure each shot works perfectly.

0:14:40 > 0:14:44Because there's only a limited amount of film

0:14:44 > 0:14:47so you have to do it as best as you can in the first one.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49So we're going to rehearse it three times

0:14:49 > 0:14:51and then the fourth time we're going to shoot it.

0:14:51 > 0:14:52Yep.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55The team rehearse to make sure everything's perfect

0:14:55 > 0:14:57before using up any more film.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01Cut. Perfect.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03Now you've got to do it exactly the same again.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06- Are you going to record it this time?- Yeah.- Definitely?

0:15:06 > 0:15:08Yeah, definitely.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10People.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Cut. It was all right.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23Although Husnain isn't completely happy,

0:15:23 > 0:15:26with so much film already used up he settles for the take.

0:15:26 > 0:15:29We did that part about over seven times.

0:15:29 > 0:15:31I think we'd better move on to the next scene.

0:15:31 > 0:15:32- OK.- OK?

0:15:32 > 0:15:36We never got it perfectly, but we thought it was great enough

0:15:36 > 0:15:37so we could just move on.

0:15:38 > 0:15:40And action.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45But even when the actors do everything perfectly,

0:15:45 > 0:15:47other things can still go wrong.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49- And cut.- Whoops.- Prop problem.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Scenery falling down is the last thing the team needs.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58When we was recording it fell off so then you could see all

0:15:58 > 0:16:00the playground stuff. So we had to stick it back on.

0:16:02 > 0:16:05Silence. Stand by, action.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08- And even the weather is causing problems.- Cut.

0:16:08 > 0:16:11The wind was blowing too hard and the models are plastic

0:16:11 > 0:16:13so when you throw them, like,

0:16:13 > 0:16:17it would get carried away by the wind easily.

0:16:17 > 0:16:18OK.

0:16:20 > 0:16:22- See anything?- No.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26Uh-oh, that's more film wasted.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28The problem was we didn't know where it was going to land.

0:16:28 > 0:16:29It was very difficult to tell

0:16:29 > 0:16:32whether that worked, do you think it worked?

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Parachute in shot, just.

0:16:36 > 0:16:41With the trickiest scenes shot, the team are on a roll.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42Action.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45And they shoot their final scenes in the nick of time,

0:16:45 > 0:16:47just before the film runs out.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50Right, well, we call that the end, or that's a wrap.

0:16:50 > 0:16:52- THEY CLAP - Sweet.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55Thank you very much.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57The team were given a 100-year-old camera...

0:16:57 > 0:16:58Action.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00..it started to wind them up...

0:17:00 > 0:17:01You've got to turn it twice every second.

0:17:01 > 0:17:04..and using it soon became a drag.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07But was it worth all that effort?

0:17:07 > 0:17:08I thought it was good.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11It was ambitious, but we got there in the end.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14I prefer the digital cameras. I can delete if I make mistakes.

0:17:16 > 0:17:20You can check out the team's finished movie on the CBBC website.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26So, this is where I give you guys three top tips to improve

0:17:26 > 0:17:28the lighting in your videos.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32Make sure you have lots of light.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34This is perfect because you can see what's behind me,

0:17:34 > 0:17:37you can see me, it's a great example of good lighting.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41Don't film in the dark, you won't see a thing, so walk around

0:17:41 > 0:17:44your house and turn on any lights to make the environment brighter.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Have fun with lighting.

0:17:49 > 0:17:50Look at this!

0:17:50 > 0:17:52There are so many different things you can do.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55That's going to scare anyone. So many cool effects you can achieve.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57What is this?

0:17:57 > 0:18:01Oh, my word! This is awesome! I'm going through

0:18:01 > 0:18:04time right now. I want to put this in my movie.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07That's three top tips to improve the lighting in your videos. Now this.

0:18:10 > 0:18:14We take you behind the scenes with Big Hero 6.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16We're under attack from a super-villain, people!

0:18:16 > 0:18:17Come on! Go, go, go.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19- I am not fast. - Yeah, no kidding.

0:18:19 > 0:18:24Come on, kick it down, punch it.

0:18:24 > 0:18:26I'm Don Hall and I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30Don's also one of the directors of Big Hero 6.

0:18:30 > 0:18:34My name is Roy Conli and I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:18:34 > 0:18:37Good to know, Roy. He's the movie producer, by the way.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39So what's this film all about?

0:18:39 > 0:18:41It's about a bunch of kids who are really smart

0:18:41 > 0:18:43and who use their technology for good.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46I mean, it's scary, obviously, but how cool!

0:18:46 > 0:18:49It's how they became a superhero team.

0:18:49 > 0:18:53This superhero team are made up of Hiro, Wasabi...

0:18:53 > 0:18:57- Catch.- Wow.

0:18:57 > 0:18:58..Honey Lemon...

0:18:59 > 0:19:01- Whoa. - ..Gogo...

0:19:03 > 0:19:04Fred...

0:19:04 > 0:19:08School mascot by day but by night,

0:19:08 > 0:19:10- I'm also school mascot. - ..and Baymax,

0:19:10 > 0:19:13the personal healthcare robot.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15He may look like a large inflatable,

0:19:15 > 0:19:18but Baymax is actually more lifelike than you'd think.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21With Baymax's walk we wanted something very cute and appealing.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24What's the cutest walk out there in nature?

0:19:24 > 0:19:26Have you worked out what it is?

0:19:26 > 0:19:28Baymax's walk is actually based on the baby penguin.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30That's so cool.

0:19:30 > 0:19:34Big Hero 6 comes from a comic book and in the comic book it's

0:19:34 > 0:19:38a super team from Tokyo and so we wanted to keep with the Tokyo

0:19:38 > 0:19:41but we wanted to kind of broaden it out to the world a little bit.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43And so Sanfransokyo was born.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45It's a vibrant city and we wanted it

0:19:45 > 0:19:47to be populated with a lot of people.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50We have the most characters in an animated film ever.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52LEAKING AIR SQUEAKS

0:19:52 > 0:19:55And no Disney movie is complete without a hidden secret.

0:19:55 > 0:19:57So what's in this one?

0:19:57 > 0:19:59SQUEAKING STOPS

0:19:59 > 0:20:01There's lots of Easter eggs, I can tell you that.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03Come on, give us a clue.

0:20:03 > 0:20:07OK, I'll give you one clue. Where we first learn about Baymax having

0:20:07 > 0:20:11a rocket fist there's a statue, that's the only clue I'll give you.

0:20:11 > 0:20:15You heard it first here, another Cinemaniac secret.

0:20:15 > 0:20:16Sweet, legend has it that

0:20:16 > 0:20:19when they were making Toy Story, the animators glued planks of wood

0:20:19 > 0:20:23to their feet to figure out how the toy soldiers should walk.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25Stay tuned for some more movie secrets.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28Introducing Mr Mike Tucker,

0:20:28 > 0:20:31here to show you how to create special effects Hollywood style

0:20:31 > 0:20:32in...

0:20:36 > 0:20:39Today we're going to show you how to make a ghost appear.

0:20:39 > 0:20:41EVIL LAUGH

0:20:41 > 0:20:44So grab a couple of friends and let's get started.

0:20:44 > 0:20:48We're going to try to make a ghost appear in that pantry.

0:20:48 > 0:20:50The sort of effect we're aiming for is like the ghosts

0:20:50 > 0:20:52that appear in Harry Potter.

0:20:52 > 0:20:56You're going to need a window, a torch and a ghost costume.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59Well, an old sheet, really. And that's about it.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03But for this special effect it's all about where you put your camera.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06Step one, you need to do this effect in the dark, cos not many

0:21:06 > 0:21:09ghosts come out in the day, do they?

0:21:09 > 0:21:12Step two, put your camera outside the window

0:21:12 > 0:21:15so it's looking at the place where you want your ghost to appear.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18If you want to get technical, the camera needs to be put

0:21:18 > 0:21:20at a 45-degree angle to the window.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24Step three, get into position with your torch.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27If you keep an eye on that camera, I'm just going to

0:21:27 > 0:21:30walk over here with this torch.

0:21:30 > 0:21:34Step four, stand at the side of your camera and prepare to get scared.

0:21:34 > 0:21:38EVIL LAUGH And if I stand here...

0:21:38 > 0:21:40You'll be amazed to see what looks like a ghost inside.

0:21:42 > 0:21:46As soon as I get a bright light on me I appear in the window.

0:21:46 > 0:21:50- Now you see him, now you don't. - That's amazing.

0:21:50 > 0:21:54If you want to go mega scary then you'll need a ghost costume.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57You can use an old sheet, check you can use it first,

0:21:57 > 0:21:58and cut holes in it for eyes.

0:22:00 > 0:22:01- Boo! - THEY LAUGH

0:22:03 > 0:22:06- That is awesome. - So turn it off and he vanishes.

0:22:08 > 0:22:12Turn it back on and he appears. And there he is.

0:22:12 > 0:22:14You're all set to go, all-out scary.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18And that's how you make a movie ghost.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20# I ain't afraid of no ghosts. #

0:22:22 > 0:22:24I don't fancy seeing him on a dark night. Next up,

0:22:24 > 0:22:28it's our very own super actor with another super-actor challenge.

0:22:30 > 0:22:35And now the star of Alice In Wonderland, Tron and Twilight...

0:22:41 > 0:22:44My challenge today is to hit my mark.

0:22:44 > 0:22:48Now, you can see on the floor just in front of me there is a mark.

0:22:48 > 0:22:53Now, I will give you an example of what would happen in a film.

0:22:53 > 0:22:57I might be walking in the middle of a scene but to make sure that I'm

0:22:57 > 0:23:01in the right place in order to say my line, I will have to hit my mark.

0:23:01 > 0:23:05The trick is I'm not supposed to look at my mark.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08I have to just be able to hit it whist I'm in the middle of acting.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11And these guys are here to judge how well I do in the...

0:23:15 > 0:23:19Hitting your mark is something quite basic but you really have

0:23:19 > 0:23:23to learn it and you have to practise it because it can't come naturally.

0:23:23 > 0:23:24Act. Dramatic acting.

0:23:24 > 0:23:27You have to make it look totally natural.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30And that is how a super actor hits his mark.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33You've got to learn to be fully aware of where

0:23:33 > 0:23:36you are in space. It's the most important thing

0:23:36 > 0:23:41because you bring space with you, you don't just walk into it.

0:23:41 > 0:23:45So instead of doing it here, where it's relatively easy,

0:23:45 > 0:23:47I'm going to do it here.

0:23:48 > 0:23:51This is where I will begin this challenge,

0:23:51 > 0:23:53behind this line in the sand here.

0:23:54 > 0:23:59200 feet away you will see the camera on a tripod set up

0:23:59 > 0:24:04ready to film me when I hit my mark, which is just in front of the camera.

0:24:04 > 0:24:07But this is Michael Sheen, super actor,

0:24:07 > 0:24:10so of course there's an almost impossible twist.

0:24:10 > 0:24:15I have to hit my mark 200 feet away whilst blindfolded.

0:24:15 > 0:24:18I'm allowed three attempts to try and succeed.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21Hit my mark just once and I win.

0:24:21 > 0:24:24So, what do you think of my chances?

0:24:24 > 0:24:26- Not very good.- No.

0:24:26 > 0:24:29- Do you think you'd be able to do that blindfolded?- No.- Yes.

0:24:29 > 0:24:31Oh, you do? Yeah, all right, then. What about you?

0:24:31 > 0:24:34- What do you think of my chances? - You might walk into the sea.

0:24:34 > 0:24:37Yeah, what happens if I do walk into the sea? Will you come and stop me?

0:24:37 > 0:24:42- No.- No, thank you very much(!) Well, not a lot of confidence here for this

0:24:42 > 0:24:44but I am feeling very confident.

0:24:44 > 0:24:49OK, stand back, everyone. This is only for super actors.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52It's time for the challenge.

0:24:52 > 0:24:54This challenge is on.

0:24:56 > 0:24:59This might not look too difficult, but remember, as well

0:24:59 > 0:25:03as walking in the right direction, I also need to think about how

0:25:03 > 0:25:07far to walk and then be in character to deliver my lines at the end.

0:25:07 > 0:25:11Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.

0:25:11 > 0:25:12CHILDREN LAUGH

0:25:12 > 0:25:14MICHAEL LAUGHS

0:25:15 > 0:25:18Luckily, I've got three goes at this. So this is number two.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22Now concentrate, Michael, you're a super actor.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28Oh, that was close.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30You moved the mark!

0:25:30 > 0:25:33They didn't, I was just too far to the right this time.

0:25:33 > 0:25:36OK, final attempt. Third time lucky.

0:25:36 > 0:25:40This is my last chance, this has got to work.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43Somewhere between the two. I'm not that bad, am I?

0:25:46 > 0:25:50Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.

0:25:50 > 0:25:52Have I hit it?

0:25:52 > 0:25:54Oh! Darn it.

0:25:54 > 0:25:59Well, I did my best, but sadly my best wasn't good enough.

0:25:59 > 0:26:02Today's challenge started with me hitting my mark and ended with me

0:26:02 > 0:26:08hitting nothing except the beach. Not once, not twice, but three times.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11And so, the verdict.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14Michael Sheen, super actor, has failed.

0:26:14 > 0:26:15Nice try, Michael.

0:26:17 > 0:26:20Next time on Cinemaniacs, there's a fantastical

0:26:20 > 0:26:24DIY-blockbuster surprise in store for these Cinemaniacs.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27All you could hear was, "Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow" from everyone.

0:26:27 > 0:26:30Michael Sheen, super actor, attempts

0:26:30 > 0:26:32to impress the judges in the audition challenge.

0:26:32 > 0:26:36ALIEN VOICE: Think what you're trying to accomplish.

0:26:36 > 0:26:40And we get an exclusive with Diary Of A Wimpy Kid writer Jeff Kinney.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42There's something in the pool

0:26:42 > 0:26:44and everybody on set just completely freaked out.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51And that really is almost it, except to tell you that

0:26:51 > 0:26:55when they made ET, the extra-terrestrial, they created

0:26:55 > 0:27:00the sound effect of ET walking from using a T-shirt filled with jelly.

0:27:00 > 0:27:02SQUELCHING

0:27:02 > 0:27:03To make it extra squishy.

0:27:16 > 0:27:20- IN ET's VOICE:- Phone home.

0:27:20 > 0:27:24Oh, yum. I'm Oli White and you've been watching Cinemaniacs.

0:27:27 > 0:27:28- Colour.- Black and white.

0:27:28 > 0:27:30- Colour.- Black and white.

0:27:30 > 0:27:33- Colour.- Colour.- Colour.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35- Black and white. - Er, colour.

0:27:36 > 0:27:37- Colour.- Colour.

0:27:37 > 0:27:41- Black and white.- Black and white. - It's got to be.- Noir.
