0:03:16 > 0:03:18Yes, all the way from Hollywood,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23The Grinch

0:03:23 > 0:03:25and space movie Apollo 13.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28- Hi, guys. I'm Ron Howard.- Hello.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30I wasn't expecting that.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32I found out that you were making a film.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35I kind of wanted to come by and check it out.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38Yeah, it was really cool meeting him, knowing that this was the guy

0:03:38 > 0:03:41that actually created a blockbuster film.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Cos he's famous, he's well-known.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46But even famous Hollywood directors have to start somewhere.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49I started when I was around your age, making movies.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52It came as, well, a big shock that he just walked in

0:03:52 > 0:03:56and started saying, "Tell me what you're doing, we'll start filming."

0:03:56 > 0:03:58First positions, action.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00I'm a farmer.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02I thought the storyboard was brilliant.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05- And you've already done some shots?- Yeah.

0:04:05 > 0:04:07'Half the work is done because they've got a good script'

0:04:07 > 0:04:10and a good plan and have laid it out well.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13Now, can I just say you're missing a really important and exciting part

0:04:13 > 0:04:15of every shooting day when you have storyboards

0:04:15 > 0:04:20because the most exciting thing is to cross out

0:04:20 > 0:04:23- the shots that you've done.- Oh, yeah. - We were going to do that,

0:04:23 > 0:04:26- we were going to do that. - Boom - that one's done.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28That's satisfying, isn't it?

0:04:28 > 0:04:29Sweet.

0:04:29 > 0:04:30Action.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Ron's usually the only director on his movies

0:04:32 > 0:04:34but our team are doing things differently.

0:04:34 > 0:04:35Is there a director?

0:04:35 > 0:04:38- We take turns being the director. - Oh, I see - you're trading off.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41Oh, that's, well, that's a great exercise - a little chaotic...

0:04:41 > 0:04:44My favourite moment was the moment when one director

0:04:44 > 0:04:48had taken care of one shot and then it was time for the next shot

0:04:48 > 0:04:52and then they... Everybody rotated, so effortlessly.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54- So, you're directing this one, right?- Yeah.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56So, is there anything you'd particularly like?

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Well, maybe if you zoom in a bit more.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00'And then whoever was directing,'

0:05:00 > 0:05:03you can just feel that little bit of adrenaline that I really recognise,

0:05:03 > 0:05:06"OK, now it's... OK, now the ball's in my court.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09"OK, what are we going to do here? Oh, let's get started."

0:05:09 > 0:05:10Action.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14The team quickly put Ron to work as their camera operator.

0:05:14 > 0:05:15Could we do that one more time

0:05:15 > 0:05:17- because the camera operator sort of messed it up?- Yeah.

0:05:17 > 0:05:18Whoops.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22He wasn't very good at filming as much as directing.

0:05:22 > 0:05:23Roll camera.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25- Oh, is it just this?- Yeah.

0:05:25 > 0:05:26OK.

0:05:26 > 0:05:30OK, where's the... Is this our zoom? Show me. Oh, here you go.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32There are a lot of award-winning cinematographers

0:05:32 > 0:05:35who are really going to enjoy just how bad I am

0:05:35 > 0:05:38- at this particular aspect of the job. - Roll camera.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41Still to come on DIY Blockbuster Part Two -

0:05:41 > 0:05:44the team get some Hollywood filmmaking secrets...

0:05:44 > 0:05:46You may want to think about doing a trick here.

0:05:46 > 0:05:48..they start to sweat...

0:05:48 > 0:05:50A little bit of perspiration.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52..and even Ron feels the pressure.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56(I'm going to get sacked. If we don't get this right, I feel like I'm out.)

0:05:59 > 0:06:01And cut.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03What's it really like to be a director?

0:06:03 > 0:06:04Let's find out.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08You learn the most when you actually do it, when you're active.

0:06:08 > 0:06:09I could teach you about running

0:06:09 > 0:06:11but you'll never know about running unless you run.

0:06:11 > 0:06:15I think making a movie is all about just getting the people together

0:06:15 > 0:06:18and saying, "OK, on Saturday, we're going to shoot the movie.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20"Who wants to do the different parts?"

0:06:20 > 0:06:22All you're limited by, really, is your imagination.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25Part of my job is actually convincing other people

0:06:25 > 0:06:26that my ideas are good ones.

0:06:26 > 0:06:30That happens a lot with directors - you have to go out and sell.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32Whatever it is, that's your way of telling it

0:06:32 > 0:06:33and you just have to do it that way.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36Random Red Carpet -

0:06:36 > 0:06:39we ask the questions so you don't have to.

0:09:29 > 0:09:33but we're not going to be watching them one after the other - oh, no.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35We're going to be watching them all at the same time,

0:09:35 > 0:09:37so if someone doesn't like a movie,

0:09:37 > 0:09:40then they can just get up and go and watch another one

0:09:40 > 0:09:43and when all the movies are finished, we're going to count up who's left

0:09:43 > 0:09:46in each screen to see which one is the winner.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49I'm calling this my Retro Runaround and with Matthew Sweet

0:09:55 > 0:09:59So, everyone is off to watch their first movie.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03In Screen 1, we have Jason And The Argonauts, made in 1963.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06It's about Jason's quest to find a mythical fleece.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10I think this one's going to be quite popular with the boys.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14I liked the bit when the lady scared the man off the horse

0:10:14 > 0:10:16and he fell into the water.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18HORSE WHINNIES

0:10:18 > 0:10:20Next up, in Screen 2, is

0:10:20 > 0:10:24Dougal And The Blue Cat, made in 1970.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27It's about a magical garden invaded by a power-mad cat.

0:10:34 > 0:10:39Yeah, my dad's mum used to watch it when she was little.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41And finally, the third movie is

0:10:41 > 0:10:43The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr T,

0:10:43 > 0:10:46about a boy who has a magical dream during a music lesson.

0:10:46 > 0:10:50It was made in 1953 - that is old.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52I think people quite like this one

0:10:52 > 0:10:55because it's colourful. What do you think of it?

0:10:55 > 0:10:57It's nothing like I've ever seen.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59APPLAUSE The films are coming to an end

0:10:59 > 0:11:03so it's time to count how many Cinemaniacs are in each screen.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06In third place, with a terrific 12,

0:11:06 > 0:11:08was Dougal And The Blue Cat.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10What made you stick with it?

0:11:10 > 0:11:12I think I stayed because I really like animals

0:11:12 > 0:11:16and it was kind of funny how he was always fighting.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18That was your favourite, wasn't it?

0:11:18 > 0:11:20It was creepy and funny at the same time.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25Now, why do you think that they didn't like that?

0:11:25 > 0:11:29- Lots of people were saying that it was a bit babyish.- Yeah.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32In second place, with a thrilling 39 Cinemaniacs,

0:11:32 > 0:11:34is Jason And The Argonauts

0:11:34 > 0:11:36I'm surprised there weren't any laughs.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39At certain times, it is quite a funny film.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41You know what, I think that's a really good point

0:11:41 > 0:11:45because one of the things we might have expected was that the kids

0:11:45 > 0:11:47in this audience would find the special effects terrible

0:11:47 > 0:11:49and they would laugh at them -

0:11:49 > 0:11:51I didn't hear any of that at all today.

0:11:51 > 0:11:55So the winner, with a fantastic 49 Cinemaniacs,

0:11:55 > 0:11:58is The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr T.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00It's quite a fun film to watch

0:12:00 > 0:12:04and when you get in to it, it's more, "Wow, this film is great."

0:12:04 > 0:12:08It was really pleasing to me to be standing in the cinemas

0:12:08 > 0:12:10and watching kids enjoying these films.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12They really got into it

0:12:12 > 0:12:15and I think it just shows that actually, time -

0:12:15 > 0:12:17it doesn't matter. A good film's a good film.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Just cos time changes doesn't mean films have to change.

0:12:23 > 0:12:27I guess that proves that old movies can still be good ones.

0:12:27 > 0:12:28Elementary, my dear Watson.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34Still to come on Cinemaniacs -

0:12:34 > 0:12:36there's behind-the-scenes gossip from the set of

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Horrid Henry: The Movie...

0:12:41 > 0:12:45..find out how to make a movie cloud in the secrets of moviemaking...

0:12:45 > 0:12:47- Wow.- That's amazing, yeah. - It really looks like cloud.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05a DIY Blockbuster surprise -

0:13:05 > 0:13:06top Hollywood director Ron Howard

0:13:06 > 0:13:09has jetted in to help them shoot their space movie.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12Really cool meeting him, knowing that this was the guy that actually

0:13:12 > 0:13:14created a blockbuster film.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Filming is well under way...

0:13:16 > 0:13:17Oh, look here.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20..and Ron's giving them props for their props.

0:13:20 > 0:13:21- Who made the prop?- Oh, me.

0:13:21 > 0:13:22Well done.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25Now, most of this kind of thing is done digitally

0:13:25 > 0:13:28but a lot of great movie models from science fiction movies,

0:13:28 > 0:13:30you know, going back to the '60s and '70s,

0:13:30 > 0:13:33were made with materials pretty much like this.

0:13:33 > 0:13:35I know in the scene when the rocket takes off

0:13:35 > 0:13:38that that scene had to be shot about three or four times.

0:13:38 > 0:13:42(I'm going to get sacked. If we don't get this right, I feel like I'm out.)

0:13:42 > 0:13:43Camera rolling.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45Lift off.

0:13:45 > 0:13:49HE REVS LIKE AN ENGINE

0:13:54 > 0:13:55Cut.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57- That was good.- That was perfect.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59I think I'll be back tomorrow.

0:13:59 > 0:14:00Phew!

0:14:00 > 0:14:02I think he, kind of, liked how home-made it was, though.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05We'd, you know, done our home-made background,

0:14:05 > 0:14:07we made it ourselves, it was just really simple things.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10You may want to think about doing a trick here where you...

0:14:10 > 0:14:11This movie might be home-made

0:14:11 > 0:14:14but Ron's got plenty of Hollywood techniques for the team to use

0:14:14 > 0:14:16to give it a big-budget feel.

0:14:16 > 0:14:18Can I make one suggestion?

0:14:18 > 0:14:22He gave us lots of tips and ideas to make the film better.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24..just move the camera in and don't do a zoom,

0:14:24 > 0:14:27just do a tight shot of the knobs and let her hand come in and twist them.

0:14:27 > 0:14:30When the captain and the co-pilot are taking off, "Oh, you can do

0:14:30 > 0:14:32"a close-up on the buttons they're pressing."

0:14:32 > 0:14:34..four, three, two, one.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40He really helped with the... Some of the camera tricks that he used.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42You know what helped us with Apollo 13 a lot?

0:14:42 > 0:14:45When we were supposed to be doing the weightless feel, is we used...

0:14:45 > 0:14:47The camera operators were hand-held.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50If I do a little bit of movement, see?

0:14:50 > 0:14:52Yeah.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55We could do that. Something like that would...

0:14:55 > 0:14:57- Does that give you an effect that you want?- Yeah.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00He was, like, "It's OK to do free camera without a tripod,

0:15:00 > 0:15:03"so it looks like it's floating...

0:15:03 > 0:15:05"to really create a space atmosphere."

0:15:05 > 0:15:07And now for some visual effects.

0:15:07 > 0:15:10The pregnancy - you're having a baby?

0:15:10 > 0:15:14He thought that I should be sweating cos I'm giving... I just gave birth,

0:15:14 > 0:15:20so he got some water and splashed it which made it look a lot better.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22A little bit of perspiration.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25You've had a baby!

0:15:25 > 0:15:28My experience is that the mother perspires just a little.

0:15:28 > 0:15:31Don't worry, don't worry. I can deliver it.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33BABY CRIES

0:15:33 > 0:15:35Congratulations,

0:15:35 > 0:15:38you've given birth to the first-ever alien.

0:15:38 > 0:15:39Cut.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41That's a wrap.

0:15:41 > 0:15:42THEY CHEER

0:15:42 > 0:15:45These young film-makers were a blast to be around.

0:15:45 > 0:15:47He was a lot different than I expected.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49I, kind of, expected that, you know,

0:15:49 > 0:15:53- directors of these big Hollywood movies to be...- Quite serious.

0:15:53 > 0:15:54Yeah, serious.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56I think I've probably learned a thing or two, I think

0:15:56 > 0:16:00I'm just going to go on to my next job just that much more inspired.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03We surprised the team with top Hollywood director Ron Howard...

0:16:03 > 0:16:04Lift off.

0:16:04 > 0:16:05..he struggled with the technology...

0:16:05 > 0:16:07Can we do that one more time

0:16:07 > 0:16:09- because the camera operator sort of messed it up?- Yeah.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12..but his film-making secrets wowed the team.

0:16:12 > 0:16:14Just move the camera in and don't do a zoom.

0:16:14 > 0:16:17So was their movie truly out of this world?

0:16:17 > 0:16:23It was a fantastic little short film, witty and pretty imaginative.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25- Bye.- Bye-bye, so long.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27You know, if Ron Howard said it was good so, you know,

0:16:27 > 0:16:29it must be all right.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32You can check out the team's finished movie on the CBBC website.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38So this is where I give you guys three top tips

0:16:38 > 0:16:40to help you create an action movie.

0:16:44 > 0:16:45You need the Spin Round The Head Shot.

0:16:45 > 0:16:49One man has a camera spinning round his head

0:16:49 > 0:16:52because he is serious.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56You can have so much fun with Close-Ups.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59He's mean, dangerous,

0:16:59 > 0:17:01he's in close-up.

0:17:01 > 0:17:02He's going somewhere.

0:17:07 > 0:17:08You need the Hero Shot.

0:17:08 > 0:17:12This man is going to save the world.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22And that was three top tips to help you create an action movie.

0:17:22 > 0:17:24Now this.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30We take you behind the scene with Horrid Henry: The Movie.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32- 'Henry.- Henry.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34- 'Henry!- HENRY!

0:17:34 > 0:17:36'Homework, now.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38'No!'

0:17:38 > 0:17:41I'm Theo Stevenson and I played Henry in Horrid Henry: The Movie.

0:17:41 > 0:17:44'I'm not going to that mouldy old brick house.'

0:17:44 > 0:17:46I'd always hide away from the chaperones,

0:17:46 > 0:17:48just because I was mischievous

0:17:48 > 0:17:51and wanted to get into the role of Horrid Henry as much as possible.

0:17:51 > 0:17:52I'd like to call it method acting.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54It's not bad...

0:17:54 > 0:17:56for a smelly-nappy baby!

0:17:56 > 0:17:58..and triple detention.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02Angelica Houston was definitely fun to work with.

0:18:02 > 0:18:03She was lovely.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06# Cinemaniacs. #

0:18:06 > 0:18:10The first time I walked on to that set, I was so nervous.

0:18:10 > 0:18:14Everything was so big and I hadn't been on something that scale before.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16You're seeing so many cameras...

0:18:19 > 0:18:21I didn't really know what to expect.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24..but in a weird way, like, nervous excited. You know when you're really

0:18:24 > 0:18:27excited for something but you just get that feeling and you're like...

0:18:27 > 0:18:32'Together, we are the Purple Hand Gang.'

0:18:32 > 0:18:36Every now and again, you would hear a little bit of an argument

0:18:36 > 0:18:38but mainly, though, we did get on.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40Yeah, I had to eat that horrible sandwich, didn't I?

0:18:44 > 0:18:45'Oh, sorry.'

0:18:45 > 0:18:48That was the best thing.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51- 'Oh-oh!- Oh!'

0:18:51 > 0:18:52It wasn't puke, obviously.

0:18:52 > 0:18:54We wouldn't be that mean to Matt.

0:18:56 > 0:18:58'Ooh.

0:18:58 > 0:18:59'Yuck.'

0:19:02 > 0:19:03What?

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- It was baby food.- That was it, it was baby food.- Yeah, it was baby food

0:19:06 > 0:19:10but, you know, I had to really go for it like I was ravenously hungry.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16Talk about half-hearted attempt here,

0:19:16 > 0:19:19cos it was just dropped on me on the day. I mean,

0:19:19 > 0:19:22this one was going for it. Yeah, I mean, I was just not into it.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25But that was the comedy element - the dad can't dance.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28No, not in the film like that. You're supposed to be...

0:19:28 > 0:19:30Supposed to be absolutely going for it but, yeah.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33If you watch it, I'm two beats behind everyone.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35Everyone else is there, like, dancing away and I'm, like,

0:19:35 > 0:19:38looking around, like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where are we at?"

0:19:42 > 0:19:45There's a scene where Horrid Henry has to throw a water bomb at me...

0:19:47 > 0:19:49..and for the first take, they said, "Oh, no,

0:19:49 > 0:19:51"it's just going to be a practice,"

0:19:51 > 0:19:54and then they actually threw the water bomb at my head

0:19:54 > 0:19:57and it was the most shocking thing ever.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02Aargh!

0:20:02 > 0:20:04Henry!

0:20:04 > 0:20:06I'll get you, Henry!

0:20:09 > 0:20:11Mmmm.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13What do you think?

0:20:13 > 0:20:17This is awesome - my very own movie cloud. If you guys want to know

0:20:17 > 0:20:20how to make your very own movie cloud, then watch this.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22Cloud, take me away.

0:20:22 > 0:20:24Mmm.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27Introducing Mr Mike Tucker,

0:20:27 > 0:20:31here to show you how to create special effects, Hollywood-style

0:20:31 > 0:20:34in the Secrets Of Moviemaking.

0:20:34 > 0:20:38Today, we're going to show you how to make your very own movie clouds,

0:20:38 > 0:20:41so grab a couple of friends and let's get started.

0:20:41 > 0:20:45This week, we're going to do stormy skies and clouds.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47This effect is a really impressive one and if you've ever seen

0:20:47 > 0:20:51Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, you'll know why.

0:20:51 > 0:20:55You're going to need a fish tank, a jug, water and salt water,

0:20:55 > 0:20:58milk, pegs and some black bin liners.

0:20:58 > 0:21:04OK, Step 1 is to get our salt water in to the tank

0:21:04 > 0:21:08and fill it up to a layer where we want our clouds to actually happen.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12We need to make sure that the two types -

0:21:12 > 0:21:16the salt water and the fresh water - don't mix, so we're going to use

0:21:16 > 0:21:20a bit of bin liner to help separate the two.

0:21:20 > 0:21:24Just clip it to the edge of the tank.

0:21:24 > 0:21:28Carefully, start pouring the fresh water in on top of the plastic.

0:21:30 > 0:21:34Right, we now need to do the tricky bit which is get the plastic out

0:21:34 > 0:21:37without disturbing the two layers of liquid, so we need to try

0:21:37 > 0:21:41and slide this plastic out over the top of the water.

0:21:41 > 0:21:43Right.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49That's what we call an inversion layer.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51Now we've let that settle a little bit,

0:21:51 > 0:21:53we need to get our milk in there.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Now...

0:21:55 > 0:22:01pour it in from one end, quite slowly, in a stream

0:22:01 > 0:22:04and then see what happens when it starts to hit.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10- Oh, wow.- You'll now see the clouds are travelling

0:22:10 > 0:22:13between the salt water and the fresh water.

0:22:13 > 0:22:17- That is awesome, isn't it? - Wow, it really looks like clouds

0:22:17 > 0:22:20You can create a background by sticking a drawing or photo

0:22:20 > 0:22:21behind the fish tank

0:22:21 > 0:22:25or you could just make a background with one of your own bin liners...

0:22:25 > 0:22:30We can clip in place with our pegs. OK, so if you come down low

0:22:30 > 0:22:34so you're looking up at it and try and avoid seeing your reflection...

0:22:37 > 0:22:39..and start to get really fancy.

0:22:39 > 0:22:42You could add food colouring in to the milk,

0:22:42 > 0:22:46in which case you would get coloured clouds.

0:22:46 > 0:22:48And if that isn't enough for you, try this.

0:22:48 > 0:22:50By taking something like a torch,

0:22:50 > 0:22:53you can start getting things like lighting effects...

0:22:53 > 0:22:57- Oh, wow.- ..or lightning. - Like a thunderstorm.

0:22:57 > 0:23:01And that's how you make your very own movie clouds

0:23:01 > 0:23:03Next up, it's our very own Super Actor

0:23:03 > 0:23:06with the Crybaby Challenge so, Asa,

0:23:06 > 0:23:08kick us off with something sad to get us in the mood.

0:23:08 > 0:23:13My wish for the world would be that no more kittens were abandoned

0:23:13 > 0:23:15and that they weren't left alone

0:23:15 > 0:23:18and they had a house to live in and someone to grow up with.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23I'm actually pretty good at this. I'm actually really good -

0:23:23 > 0:23:26maybe I could get a part in the...

0:23:26 > 0:23:27No?

0:23:27 > 0:23:29Here's the Crybaby Challenge.

0:23:31 > 0:23:37And now, the star of Alice In Wonderland, Tron and Twilight,

0:23:37 > 0:23:40Michael Sheen, Super Actor...

0:23:42 > 0:23:46Today's super acting challenge is a particularly tricky one.

0:23:46 > 0:23:48It entails me

0:23:48 > 0:23:53and six young acting trainees

0:23:53 > 0:23:58going head-to-head as to who can bring the tears forth the quickest.

0:23:58 > 0:24:02..in the Crybaby Challenge.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04This is a really difficult challenge

0:24:04 > 0:24:07cos, actually, you can't fake it.

0:24:07 > 0:24:12Now, as an actor now and again, I have to bring the tears.

0:24:12 > 0:24:13I find this very difficult.

0:24:13 > 0:24:18Some actors think about sad things and actually make themselves upset.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20Do you think you will be able to cry

0:24:20 > 0:24:23just by summoning up your own super acting powers?

0:24:23 > 0:24:26Er, no, I don't think so. I mean, I've tried before, just out of,

0:24:26 > 0:24:28like, curiosity if I could

0:24:28 > 0:24:30and I've never been able to do it before.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33Often when you're crying, you're, sort of, you're panting...

0:24:33 > 0:24:36Bottom lip is going.

0:24:36 > 0:24:39..and if you, sort of, keep that up for a minute or two,

0:24:39 > 0:24:41it really does get you crying.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44Another way to make yourself cry is by chopping onions

0:24:44 > 0:24:49so we're going head-to-head with our random onion-chopper, Christina.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52How long do you think it will take you to get the tears,

0:24:52 > 0:24:53just by using the onions?

0:24:53 > 0:24:55Two onions.

0:24:55 > 0:24:57- Two onions?- Yeah.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59That means the challenge is on.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03Cry Cam is in position

0:25:03 > 0:25:05and let the crying begin.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09'The chopping begins and two onions is our time limit.

0:25:09 > 0:25:10'If I can be the first person to summon a tear

0:25:10 > 0:25:12'against all these actors

0:25:12 > 0:25:15'and onion-lady Christina, I win.

0:25:16 > 0:25:18'I'm starting to think sad.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20'I just don't think I can do it.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22'Two onions, one tear - it's tough

0:25:22 > 0:25:25'but I'm a Super Actor...

0:25:25 > 0:25:27'or am I?

0:25:27 > 0:25:28'One onion chopped already -

0:25:28 > 0:25:30that means there's only one onion left!

0:25:30 > 0:25:33'Come on, Michael. Get a grip.'

0:25:35 > 0:25:37'Don't get distracted by all that giggling behind you.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41'Think sad. Think REALLY sad.

0:25:41 > 0:25:43'Think Super Actor sad.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50- BUZZER - 'Oh, that's the second onion chopped

0:25:50 > 0:25:52'which means it's the end of the challenge.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55'Well, it looks like I'm not the only one that's failed.'

0:25:55 > 0:25:56How did it go, Christina?

0:25:56 > 0:25:59Well, irritated eyes but no tears.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01Irritated eyes but no tears.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04Hang on a minute, is that a tear?

0:26:04 > 0:26:06There is a tear,

0:26:06 > 0:26:09a tear fell from this eye so we have a winner.

0:26:09 > 0:26:14What was it that you used in order to bring about the tears?

0:26:14 > 0:26:16Well, I didn't blink for, like, most of it and I guess

0:26:16 > 0:26:18my eyes just, sort of, dried up and then they wanted

0:26:18 > 0:26:20to water to get rid of the...

0:26:20 > 0:26:23- I see, so it was purely biological?- Yeah.

0:26:23 > 0:26:27'No tears, so it's a crying shame
