0:00:37 > 0:00:39Hello, everyone.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43I'm Oli White and this is Cinemaniacs - Cineminis.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Coming up -

0:00:45 > 0:00:47custard pie capers...

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Oh, my goodness.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53..action movie top tips...

0:00:53 > 0:00:56You can have so much fun with close-ups.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59He's mean, dangerous, he's in close-up.

0:00:59 > 0:01:03...and can Michael Sheen - Super Actor - cry like a baby?

0:01:03 > 0:01:04I'm starting to think sad.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06I just don't think I can do it.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12So tell me, Rupert, what's the best thing about being a movie star?

0:01:12 > 0:01:14I get sent lots of pyjamas.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Well, that's pretty cool.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19- People like to send me pyjamas.- OK.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Well, moving on with the show, it's time for DIY Blockbuster.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26Action.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29We're giving groups of film-makers the chance to make a short film,

0:01:29 > 0:01:33armed with just a camera, a script and some home-made props.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Little do they know, they're in for a big surprise...

0:01:38 > 0:01:40You didn't know I was coming?

0:01:40 > 0:01:43..when we give them something spectacular...

0:01:43 > 0:01:46to turn their home movie into a DIY blockbuster.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52T is in, W is out.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56Lilah, Kai, Ruby, Josh and Harvi are making a spy movie.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59There's a spy and they have the code

0:01:59 > 0:02:02to a safe that has these secret files...

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Wait, what are we doing?

0:02:04 > 0:02:08..and the boss is evil and wants to get the files back.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10The team have started filming, but unfortunately

0:02:10 > 0:02:14their back garden doesn't exactly look like a set from James Bond.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15If you guys move a bit in that direction,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17just so I can get the house in as well.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19What the team don't know

0:02:19 > 0:02:22is that they're in for a DIY Blockbuster surprise.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25We've secured access to a top secret film location

0:02:25 > 0:02:27that will be perfect for their spy movie.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32It was just really, really exciting.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33Blenheim Palace.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Blenheim Palace, we're going to Blenheim Palace.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42Yes, the DIY Blockbuster surprise is Blenheim Palace -

0:02:42 > 0:02:46with seven acres of gardens, fountains and an amazing maze.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48It's been used as the backdrop for films like

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix and Gulliver's Travels.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56It's really big, which is perfect.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57Whoa.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59I thought it was amazing.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04It looks better for a spy movie, like, it's swanky and spyish,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06instead of just a back garden.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09And then get them there, they can talk there.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10And after 30 minutes,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13finally the group decide on their first location.

0:03:14 > 0:03:15Against a brick wall?

0:03:15 > 0:03:20Yes, of course, I put the enemy's top secret plans in the safe.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22I think we could have probably got a better place than that

0:03:22 > 0:03:26because it was against the wall and it looked a bit ugly.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29And it's not only the location that's proving tricky.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32- What's the code again? - Oh, it's 1X23...

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Guys, cut. You didn't show me properly, you just went like that.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Oh, OK.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38'When you're holding the camera'

0:03:38 > 0:03:39and walking around

0:03:39 > 0:03:41'to look at a different thing,

0:03:41 > 0:03:45'it's moving, it doesn't look very good.'

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Cut.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49Keep it still, walk slowly.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53With time ticking away, the group decide to skip ahead to shoot one

0:03:53 > 0:03:55of their most important scenes

0:03:55 > 0:03:57in one of the biggest mazes in the world.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Action.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02- Give me the code.- OK, it's 1X...

0:04:02 > 0:04:04'Well, we thought it would be the best place'

0:04:04 > 0:04:08cos it's one of the kind of places you can get cornered

0:04:08 > 0:04:10'and there's no way out.'

0:04:10 > 0:04:14Ah-ha-ha. A real spy would never have given me the code.

0:04:14 > 0:04:15Cut.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17Scene complete. What's next?

0:04:17 > 0:04:19Now we've got to get out of the maze.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21Let's hope they can remember the way.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25Harvi, are you sure it's not this way?

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Yep, I'm sure. This is the short cut.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30- Harvi gave us rubbish directions. - Yeah.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34The team head back to the viewing platform to work out their route...

0:04:34 > 0:04:36We've got to get to there.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38..and finally agree on one thing...

0:04:38 > 0:04:42Let's just go to the entrance because we can't find the exit.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44..that the best way out is the way they came in.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49But it's taken them so long

0:04:49 > 0:04:52it's already home time for their youngest actress.

0:04:52 > 0:04:53I've got to go, guys. Bye.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58She just went.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00We need someone to know the lines for the spy.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02With the big chase scene still to film,

0:05:02 > 0:05:06the team have to find a way to replace Lilah to finish their movie.

0:05:06 > 0:05:07We thought we'd put Ruby in

0:05:07 > 0:05:10- because she's a girl. - Kind of like a stunt double.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12So, will anyone notice?

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Did you spot the stunt double?

0:05:17 > 0:05:18Here it comes again.

0:05:24 > 0:05:25I think we got away with it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27Go now, just run.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32With the palace closing, the team rush to film their final scenes.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33Come on, hurry, hurry.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35Three, two, one. Action.

0:05:39 > 0:05:40Cut.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42Filming finished. And that's a wrap.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46We gave the team a blockbuster location to shoot

0:05:46 > 0:05:49their spy movie, but their gadgets gave them grief...

0:05:49 > 0:05:52When you're holding the camera, keep it still.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54- ..they got muddled in a maze... - Wrong way.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56..and even lost their lead.

0:05:56 > 0:05:57I've got to go, guys. Bye.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59But did the team feel it was mission accomplished?

0:05:59 > 0:06:01What?

0:06:01 > 0:06:03It was hard, but I think it is quite good

0:06:03 > 0:06:05how we all managed to work together and do it.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07I don't think any of us could have made

0:06:07 > 0:06:09something as good by ourselves.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12And any final bits of advice from Harvi?

0:06:12 > 0:06:14Don't film in a maze.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18You can check out the team's finished movie on the CBBC website.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25Now, let's head behind the scenes with Bugsy Malone.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28Charlie, Yonkers, it's a double cross!

0:06:28 > 0:06:30OK, yous guys, freeze.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39I'm Bonnie Langford and I played Lena Marelli in Bugsy Malone

0:06:39 > 0:06:41when I was ten years old.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44# Show business It's in my veins... #

0:06:44 > 0:06:48I'm Dexter Fletcher and I played Baby Face in Bugsy Malone

0:06:48 > 0:06:49when I was nine years old.

0:06:49 > 0:06:53- Get Baby Face.- Get Baby Face. - Get Baby Face.

0:06:53 > 0:06:54I am Baby Face.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57There were no grown-ups at all in the movie.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59That was great for us because there were cars

0:06:59 > 0:07:02and we got to drive the cars, even though they had pedals,

0:07:02 > 0:07:04so they were designed as cars that kids could drive.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07- They were fantastic.- And then there were guns that shot cream.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12They couldn't actually create a gun that fired cream, so they created

0:07:12 > 0:07:13a gun that fired ping-pong balls,

0:07:13 > 0:07:15and they would do a close up of you

0:07:15 > 0:07:19like this, and you'd hold a handful of cream and throw it in your face.

0:07:19 > 0:07:20Oh, my goodness.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23So when you edit it together you've got the guy shooting

0:07:23 > 0:07:25and then you do the edit and then... Yeah, exactly.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32SAD TRUMPET WARBLE

0:07:32 > 0:07:34So this is show business.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Introducing Mr Mike Tucker.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Here to show you how to create

0:07:44 > 0:07:46special effects - Hollywood style - in...

0:07:50 > 0:07:54Today we're going to show you how to make your very own time slice.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58So grab 50 of your closest friends and let's get started.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01That's right, I did say 50.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03You're going to need 50 people, each with a mobile phone,

0:08:03 > 0:08:08doesn't matter what kind, but for this effect, 50 is the magic number.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11Right, the effect that we're going to demonstrate today is called

0:08:11 > 0:08:14time slice. Do you have any idea what time slice might be?

0:08:14 > 0:08:16- No.- No.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19Right, if you've seen films like Horrid Henry, where somebody

0:08:19 > 0:08:23jumps into the air and then freezes, but the camera continues to move

0:08:23 > 0:08:27all the way around them, that's called a time slice effect.

0:08:27 > 0:08:30As well as your 50 friends, you'll need a tape measure,

0:08:30 > 0:08:31a trampette

0:08:31 > 0:08:33or something to bounce on,

0:08:33 > 0:08:34and a computer.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37Oh, and make sure you number those phones.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40- One, two, three...- Number them 1 to 50 and you'll be able to

0:08:40 > 0:08:42- keep track of what's going on.- 50!

0:08:42 > 0:08:44Step one - get your cameras into place

0:08:44 > 0:08:47and get ready to start measuring.

0:08:47 > 0:08:51Hold one end of the tape measure at the centre of the trampette.

0:08:51 > 0:08:52Let's see.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55That's four metres, and everyone lines up so we're all

0:08:55 > 0:08:58exactly the same distance away from the middle of the trampette.

0:08:58 > 0:09:00I think you guys are going to need to move back a little bit.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02Pull that tight again,

0:09:02 > 0:09:05cos I think you guys are going to need to step backwards.

0:09:05 > 0:09:06Yeah, OK.

0:09:06 > 0:09:11So now we need to get everyone lined up roughly the same distance apart.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14Everyone needs to be holding their phones at roughly the same

0:09:14 > 0:09:18height, but, bear in mind that they're going to be in midair.

0:09:18 > 0:09:19Step two.

0:09:19 > 0:09:23Can everyone now turn on their phones so that they're recording video?

0:09:28 > 0:09:31Step three - get jumping and make sure everyone

0:09:31 > 0:09:35records at least 30 seconds of footage on their phones.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37CHEERING

0:09:37 > 0:09:39This means that the phones will be recording

0:09:39 > 0:09:42the jumping from lots of different angles.

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Step four - this one is going to take a bit of time

0:09:46 > 0:09:49because now you need to load all the footage you've shot

0:09:49 > 0:09:53from every phone on the computer, and make sure you do it in order.

0:09:53 > 0:09:57Step five - now you're ready to make your time slice.

0:09:57 > 0:10:02Using the video editing software on your computer, choose the same frame

0:10:02 > 0:10:04from each recording and clip it,

0:10:04 > 0:10:06then insert it on the timeline.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09Make sure you keep each frame in the same order that it was shot.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12And hey presto, one terrific time slice.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20So, this is where I give you guys three top tips to help you

0:10:20 > 0:10:21create an action movie.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27You need a spin-round-the-head shot.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31DEEP VOICE-OVER: One man has a camera spinning round his head

0:10:31 > 0:10:33because he is serious.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37You can have so much fun with

0:10:37 > 0:10:38close-ups.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40He's mean, dangerous.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42He's in close-up.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44He's going somewhere.

0:10:49 > 0:10:50You need the hero shot.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53This man is going to save the world.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04And that was three top tips to help you create an action movie.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12We ask the questions so you don't have to.

0:11:13 > 0:11:16Hey, Bill, what's the saddest movie you've ever seen?

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Bambi, they had to take me home and put me to bed.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20Cool.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23- I mean, not cool. - Dumbo made me weep uncontrollably.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26And I think I sword-fought all the way home.

0:11:26 > 0:11:28You know what I mean?

0:11:30 > 0:11:33It doesn't get much more random than this.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36And now the star of Alice In Wonderland, Tron

0:11:36 > 0:11:38and Twilight,

0:11:38 > 0:11:41Michael Sheen - Super Actor.

0:11:43 > 0:11:48Today's super acting challenge is a particularly tricky one.

0:11:48 > 0:11:52It entails me and six young acting

0:11:52 > 0:11:56trainees going head-to-head

0:11:56 > 0:11:59as to who can bring the tears forth the quickest.

0:11:59 > 0:12:03In the Crybaby Challenge.

0:12:03 > 0:12:07This is a really difficult challenge because, actually,

0:12:07 > 0:12:08you can't fake it.

0:12:08 > 0:12:13Now, as an actor, now and again I have to bring the tears.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15I find this very difficult.

0:12:15 > 0:12:19'Some actors think about sad things and actually make themselves upset.'

0:12:19 > 0:12:23Do you think you will be able to cry just by summoning

0:12:23 > 0:12:24up your own super acting powers?

0:12:24 > 0:12:26No, I don't think so.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29I mean, I've tried before just out of curiosity if I could,

0:12:29 > 0:12:31and I've never been able to do it before.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34Often, when you're crying, you're sort of...

0:12:34 > 0:12:35You're panting.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Bottom lip is going.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39If you sort of keep that up for a minute or two,

0:12:39 > 0:12:43it really does get you crying.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46'Another way to make yourself cry is by chopping onions.

0:12:46 > 0:12:50'So we're going head-to-head with our random onion chopper Christina.'

0:12:50 > 0:12:53How long do you think it will take you to get the tears

0:12:53 > 0:12:55just by using the onions?

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- Two onions.- Two onions?- Yeah.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00That means the challenge is on.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Cry Cam is in position.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06And let the crying begin.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10'The chopping begins and two onions is our time limit.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12'If I can be the first person to summon a tear

0:13:12 > 0:13:16'against all these actors and onion lady Christina, I win.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20'I'm starting to think sad.

0:13:20 > 0:13:21'I just don't think I can do it.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24'Two onions, one tear, it's tough,

0:13:24 > 0:13:26'but I'm a Super Actor.

0:13:26 > 0:13:28'Or am I?'

0:13:28 > 0:13:30- BUZZER - 'One onion chopped already.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32'That means there's only one onion left.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34'Come on, Michael, get a grip.
