0:01:11 > 0:01:14I always like the stuff where you don't even speak,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17you're just doing the funny sound effects like going, "Ahhhh! Wooeee!"

0:01:17 > 0:01:21OK. Let's try and do this next bit without speaking.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Ahhhh! Wooeee!

0:01:23 > 0:01:27There's me getting a surprise, a DIY blockbuster surprise.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34- Action!- We're giving six film-makers the chance to make a short film,

0:01:34 > 0:01:38armed with just a camera, a script and some home-made props.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Little do they know, they're in for a big surprise...

0:01:42 > 0:01:44You didn't know I was coming?

0:01:44 > 0:01:47..when we give them something spectacular

0:01:47 > 0:01:49to turn their home movie

0:01:49 > 0:01:51into a DIY blockbuster.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Once upon a time, there was a princess.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02..are making a fantasy fairytale film.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Red Riding Hood, Red Riding Hood, you are so brave.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09It's about a king who wants a wife.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13I'll give you potions, gold, valuables, anything.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15And a wizard says that he needs three objects

0:02:15 > 0:02:19and it's up to the King to get all the objects to make the spell.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22The team are planning to film in this modern flat

0:02:22 > 0:02:24but it's causing them problems.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26The flat didn't really look like a wizard's lair.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28We could take out all the modern things

0:02:28 > 0:02:32and all the bright things and change them with dark things.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34It's going to take more than a couple of bright ideas

0:02:34 > 0:02:36to transform this place.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38How are we going to move an oven?

0:02:38 > 0:02:41And I thought, well, wizards' lairs are not that modern.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42Not to worry, Ellie.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45What the team don't know is that they're in for a DIY

0:02:45 > 0:02:47blockbuster surprise.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Time for some movie magic.

0:02:51 > 0:02:52We're in a filming studio!

0:02:54 > 0:02:57- Whoa!- Wow!- Look at the floor!

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Oh, there's smoke on the floor.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04All you could hear was, "Wow, wow, wow, wow," from everyone.

0:03:04 > 0:03:05Wow, indeed!

0:03:05 > 0:03:08We've built them an epic set, jammed full of props

0:03:08 > 0:03:11and we've filled it with special-effect smoke

0:03:11 > 0:03:13to create that authentic wizard lair look.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Oh, look! Oh, this is great!

0:03:16 > 0:03:19I'm speechless, I really don't know what to say, it was awesome.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22The team finally start filming.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24Take one, scene one, action!

0:03:24 > 0:03:27But are struggling to get to grips with the camera.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31We've got all the right ingredients, now how do we make a wife?

0:03:31 > 0:03:33It kept on zooming in at the wrong moments

0:03:33 > 0:03:35and zooming out at the wrong moments.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37An now, there's another problem.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39Your Majesty, the King.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43The light was shining really bright in the camera

0:03:43 > 0:03:45and we couldn't really see anything.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47So, Millie, you need to film Ellie...

0:03:47 > 0:03:52By moving the camera, they avoid seeing that pesky light.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54- Your Majesty, the King. - Hello, Wizard.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57But with all the technical problems, there's something's gone unnoticed.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59All the smoke's gone.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01They've forgotten to shut the door

0:04:01 > 0:04:03and all the smoke's has escaped.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Because we were all stepping about and running about,

0:04:05 > 0:04:08all the smoke was being pushed out of the door.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10With no time to waste,

0:04:10 > 0:04:12the team decide to press on to the next scene.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Guys, can I just say, I think we should do a faraway shot for this.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19In many films you can see it, like, with the curtains

0:04:19 > 0:04:22dangling down and everything, it looks quite nice.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26Eloushka's full of dramatic ideas, but the others aren't convinced.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28And, Riley, I think it would look quite cool

0:04:28 > 0:04:31if we have, like, the cauldron drop and then...

0:04:31 > 0:04:33- No.- No.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35We were all having all these ideas.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38It was trying to shout over each other.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42THEY SHOUT OVER EACH OTHER

0:04:43 > 0:04:45One at a time, guys.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47They just didn't listen to each other.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49They just thought, "Oh, I need my opinion heard."

0:04:49 > 0:04:52The team eventually resolve their differences

0:04:52 > 0:04:54and are finally stating to work together.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56Now it's time for the big smoke effect.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Or not, as it escaped earlier.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01We didn't have anything to use, so we used sand

0:05:01 > 0:05:02and it's all over the floor.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04Sand?! Are you sure?!

0:05:04 > 0:05:07- That would look cool. - Yeah, that's OK.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10It's like a puff of smoke, but it's a puff of sand.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14I thought it was going to go in someone's eyes or get in the camera.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18- You've got sand all over me! - It wasn't me.- It wasn't me.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22It went down my top and it went all over the camera.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24It's not very, like, dramatic,

0:05:24 > 0:05:27I think, we should probably, like, do something a bit more wow.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29You know what they say,

0:05:29 > 0:05:31people in wizards' houses shouldn't throw sand.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34Stand by! Quiet, please!

0:05:34 > 0:05:38The team have less than an hour to finish their film.

0:05:38 > 0:05:39Take one!

0:05:39 > 0:05:41Where's Eloushka?

0:05:41 > 0:05:43- Where's Eloushka? - LAUGHTER

0:05:43 > 0:05:46Take nine. We're not doing it ten times.

0:05:46 > 0:05:48Take ten!

0:05:48 > 0:05:50Take 12!

0:05:50 > 0:05:51Action!

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Yay! Twelfth time lucky.

0:05:55 > 0:05:56Oh, I think I got...

0:05:56 > 0:05:59And after one last quick shot, their movie is complete.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01That's a wrap!

0:06:01 > 0:06:03CHEERING

0:06:03 > 0:06:07- It was better than what we thought it was.- It was amazing.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09And now let's all go home.

0:06:09 > 0:06:14You can check out the team's finished movie on the CBBC website.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23We ask the questions, so you don't have to.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26Matthew, tell us your most favourite song ever.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28- What do you know good?- Eh? Erm...

0:06:28 > 0:06:30What do you know good?

0:06:30 > 0:06:33- What do YOU know good?- Yeah, OK, well...- No, no, no, not there...

0:06:33 > 0:06:37- You can hum it and I'll sing it. - Tell me one thing you know good.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41It doesn't get much more random than this.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Now, let's head behind the scenes...

0:06:49 > 0:06:51To the house!

0:06:51 > 0:06:52Run!

0:06:54 > 0:06:58I'm Adam Brown. I play Ori in The Hobbit.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00HE BURPS

0:07:00 > 0:07:03Before we did any type of filming, we did what was called

0:07:03 > 0:07:08dwarf boot camp, where 13 actors who were playing the dwarfs

0:07:08 > 0:07:12did horse riding lessons, stunt training, movement training.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15So we learnt how to walk as dwarfs.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18This was prior to getting the costume on and then, suddenly,

0:07:18 > 0:07:22as you put those boots on, there's no other way of just moving

0:07:22 > 0:07:24without walking heavily like a dwarf.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28What do we do now?

0:07:28 > 0:07:32- Hold your breath.- Hold my breath? What do you mean?! Ahhhh!

0:07:32 > 0:07:35SHOUTING

0:07:39 > 0:07:41In The Desolation Of Smaug,

0:07:41 > 0:07:45there is a scene where the dwarfs hide in barrels

0:07:45 > 0:07:47and we are covered by fish.

0:07:50 > 0:07:53Now, I have a huge phobia of fish.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56And the fish came down and they just covered the top of me.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58They just kept going and going and going and going

0:07:58 > 0:08:00to the point where they said, "Cut!"

0:08:00 > 0:08:03And I just shouted, "Get me out, get me out of here,

0:08:03 > 0:08:04"I can't stand it any more!"

0:08:04 > 0:08:07And at the end of the day,

0:08:07 > 0:08:10I absolutely stunk of fish.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19So this is where I give you guys three top tips

0:08:19 > 0:08:21for improving the sound in your videos.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23SPLASHING HOWLING

0:08:23 > 0:08:24GURGLING REVVING

0:08:24 > 0:08:25BOOMING

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Tip one - you need good sound. Get yourself a good microphone.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31I'm wearing a mic right now and this is a really good one to use

0:08:31 > 0:08:33because it sounds nice and clear.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35Or you can get a mic that sticks on top of your camera.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Tip two - bad sound.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40Make sure you're aware of your surroundings and aren't standing

0:08:40 > 0:08:43- next to anything noisy like this... - GENERATOR RATTLING

0:08:43 > 0:08:45..because people won't be able to hear you clearly.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47Tip number three - sound effects.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49You can have so much fun with sound effects.

0:08:49 > 0:08:50DINGING POPPING

0:08:50 > 0:08:53BURPING

0:08:53 > 0:08:55ELEPHANT ROARS

0:08:55 > 0:08:57FARTING

0:08:57 > 0:09:01And that's three tips to have better sound in your videos. Now, this...

0:09:19 > 0:09:21CHEERING

0:09:21 > 0:09:24And I don't want to talk business, I just want to play my whistle.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29And the Cine for...

0:09:41 > 0:09:43And the Cine for...

0:09:46 > 0:09:48..goes to...

0:09:48 > 0:09:51CHEERING

0:09:51 > 0:09:53My name's Jake and I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56- I'm a Cinemaniac.- I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58And we are... BOTH: ..Cinemaniacs.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00- I'm a Cinemaniac.- I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:10:00 > 0:10:02- I'm a Cinemaniac.- I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:10:02 > 0:10:03I'm a Cinemaniac.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05I am a Cinemaniac.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07I'm a Cinemaniac!

0:10:07 > 0:10:09We're Cinemaniacs!

0:10:12 > 0:10:14And...

0:10:15 > 0:10:17Eddie, Eddie!

0:10:17 > 0:10:19Eddie! Tom!

0:10:20 > 0:10:23Tom, could we have a word, please?

0:10:23 > 0:10:26He waved at us, so... I guess that's good as well.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29Julie! Julie!

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Julie!

0:10:31 > 0:10:35Ethan! Can I have a quick word?

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Can I have a quick word, please, Ethan?

0:10:37 > 0:10:40Julianne! Julianne!

0:10:42 > 0:10:44Benedict! Benedict!

0:10:44 > 0:10:46Can we have one word? Ben!

0:10:46 > 0:10:49It's at times like this that I really hate being small.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56And now the star of Alice In Wonderland,

0:10:56 > 0:10:57Tron and Twilight...

0:11:03 > 0:11:07My challenge today is to hit my mark.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11Now, you can see on the floor, just in front of me, there is a mark.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15Now, I will give you an example of what would happen in a film.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18I might be walking in the middle of a scene

0:11:18 > 0:11:22but to make sure I'm in the right place in order to say my line,

0:11:22 > 0:11:24I will have to hit my mark.

0:11:24 > 0:11:27The trick is, I'm not supposed to look at my mark,

0:11:27 > 0:11:31I have to just be able to hit it whilst I'm in the middle of acting.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34And these guys are here to judge how well I do in the...

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Hitting your mark is something quite basic

0:11:40 > 0:11:44but you really have to learn it and you have to practise it

0:11:44 > 0:11:46because it can't come naturally.

0:11:46 > 0:11:47Act! Dramatic acting!

0:11:47 > 0:11:49You have to make it look totally natural.

0:11:49 > 0:11:53Now, that is how a super actor hits his mark.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57You've got to learn to be fully aware of where you are in space.

0:11:57 > 0:12:01It's the most important thing because you bring space with you.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04You don't just walk into it.

0:12:04 > 0:12:07So, instead of doing it here, where it's relatively easy.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10I'm going to do it...here!

0:12:11 > 0:12:13This is where I will begin this challenge,

0:12:13 > 0:12:15behind this line in the sand here.

0:12:17 > 0:12:21200ft away, you will see the camera on a tripod,

0:12:21 > 0:12:25set up, ready to film me when I hit my mark, which is

0:12:25 > 0:12:27just in front of the camera.

0:12:27 > 0:12:29But this is Michael Sheen, super actor,

0:12:29 > 0:12:33so, of course, there's an almost impossible twist.

0:12:33 > 0:12:37I have to hit my mark 200ft away whilst blindfolded.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40I'm allowed three attempts to try and succeed.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Hit my mark just once and I win.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46So, what do you think of my chances?

0:12:46 > 0:12:48- Not very good.- No!

0:12:48 > 0:12:51- Do you think you'd be able to do that, blindfolded?- No.- Yes.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Oh, you do?! All right, then. What about you?

0:12:54 > 0:12:55What do you think are my chances?

0:12:55 > 0:12:57- OK.- You might walk into the sea.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Yeah, what happens if I do walk into the sea? Will you come and stop me?

0:13:00 > 0:13:02- No.- No. Thank you very much.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05Well, not a lot of confidence here for this.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07But I am feeling very confident.

0:13:07 > 0:13:11OK, stand back, everyone, this is only for super actors.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15It's time for...

0:13:15 > 0:13:17This challenge is on.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21This might not look too difficult, but remember,

0:13:21 > 0:13:24as well as walking in the right direction,

0:13:24 > 0:13:28I also need to think about how far to walk and then be in character

0:13:28 > 0:13:30to deliver my lines at the end.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.
