0:37:05 > 0:37:08# It's the climb. #
0:37:08 > 0:37:12You just reminded me of Mary J. Blige, actually.
0:37:12 > 0:37:15That's probably vocally the best performance of all three seasons.
0:37:15 > 0:37:17I'd buy that single tomorrow if you released it.
0:37:17 > 0:37:20You are cuter than the cutest thing in cute town.
0:37:20 > 0:37:23Beautiful arrangement, beautifully sung.

0:37:24 > 0:37:26and I think you should be really proud of that performance.

0:37:58 > 0:38:00CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:38:05 > 0:38:08All of tonight's acts have been supporting Comic Relief
0:38:08 > 0:38:10and you can do by doing something funny for money.
0:38:10 > 0:38:13You really can make a difference to lives in the world's poorest
0:38:13 > 0:38:15countries and right here in the UK.
0:38:15 > 0:38:18Recently we visited Manchester to find out how the money you
0:38:18 > 0:38:20raised is being spent.
0:38:20 > 0:38:23We are here in Moss Side in Manchester to meet
0:38:23 > 0:38:26a couple of guys who have made a big difference in this area.
0:38:26 > 0:38:27Through lots of hard work
0:38:27 > 0:38:31and help from Comic Relief they've set up a centre for local kids
0:38:31 > 0:38:33to help get them off the sofa and off the streets.
0:38:33 > 0:38:35But we're not going to tell you what it is just yet.
0:38:35 > 0:38:38First, we're going to take a little tour with Mike, one of the guys
0:38:38 > 0:38:41who set up the project a few years ago.
0:38:41 > 0:38:45Local fireman Mike Dillon has worked in Moss Side for 28 years.
0:38:45 > 0:38:47He has witnessed the problems of antisocial behaviour
0:38:47 > 0:38:49and gang violence first-hand.
0:38:49 > 0:38:55Moss Side, it's really colourful but it's an inner-city suburb
0:38:55 > 0:38:59and it's got all the problems that an inner-city suburb's got.
0:38:59 > 0:39:03Antisocial behaviour with young people having nothing to do,
0:39:03 > 0:39:05with crime.
0:39:05 > 0:39:08What is it like particularly for kids growing up in Moss Side?
0:39:08 > 0:39:13It's tough because there are so many challenges and so many potential
0:39:13 > 0:39:17pitfalls for them, whether it be hanging around with the gang groups
0:39:17 > 0:39:19or gang scenarios, petty crime,
0:39:19 > 0:39:22leading on to more substantial crime.
0:39:22 > 0:39:27We're pretty intrigued and excited to see what it's all about.
0:39:27 > 0:39:30- We're here.- A boxing club. Yeah!
0:39:31 > 0:39:34- Awesome.- Right, gentlemen, follow me.- Let's do it.
0:39:42 > 0:39:45Welcome to Moss Side Boxing Club. Can I introduce you to Trav?
0:39:45 > 0:39:48Trav, how are you doing? I'm Sam. I've heard a lot about you, mate.
0:39:48 > 0:39:55- All good.- All lies, I can tell you! So you want to try?- Try? Yeah!
0:39:55 > 0:39:58Mike and Trav set up the boxing club in an old garage beside the fire
0:39:58 > 0:40:01station to bring kids together from all over Moss Side.
0:40:01 > 0:40:04They give up their spare time to open the centre for fitness training
0:40:04 > 0:40:07and up to 70 young people regularly come down.
0:40:07 > 0:40:10They've created a place where kids can have structure
0:40:10 > 0:40:11and rules in a safe environment.
0:40:11 > 0:40:15What we do is we replaced the gang culture.
0:40:15 > 0:40:17But ours is a gang, this is a gang.
0:40:17 > 0:40:20Our gang is about getting up in the morning, training, living properly.
0:40:20 > 0:40:23Boxing has a kudos.
0:40:23 > 0:40:25Especially in an area like this.
0:40:25 > 0:40:29There's no black, white, female, everyone's just a boxer.
0:40:29 > 0:40:33It's not about fighting. People want to fight,
0:40:33 > 0:40:36that's the last thing they'll do. In our gym it's about the boxing.
0:40:36 > 0:40:39So the respect aspect of it is fundamental to the kids.
0:40:39 > 0:40:41It's not just about the boxing.
0:40:41 > 0:40:45- They're getting life skills out of it.- We widen their expectations.
0:40:45 > 0:40:47We give them self-esteem, the belief in themselves
0:40:47 > 0:40:51and the perception other people have of them.
0:40:51 > 0:40:54Now it's time for us to have a go. How hard can it be?
0:41:04 > 0:41:06How long have you been coming here?
0:41:06 > 0:41:09About nearly...two years and a bit.
0:41:09 > 0:41:12- Two years and a bit, OK. - Do you enjoy the training?
0:41:12 > 0:41:14Yeah, it's good, like, cos if I wasn't here
0:41:14 > 0:41:18I'd be mucking around, getting into trouble with the police and stuff,
0:41:18 > 0:41:20but it really gets you away from all that.
0:41:27 > 0:41:30What do you think of Trav and Mike?
0:41:33 > 0:41:34They're funny.
0:41:34 > 0:41:37- Yeah? So, what do you think about Mike?- Kind.
0:41:37 > 0:41:39Kind. And what about Trav?
0:41:40 > 0:41:43- Kind, as well.- Awww! That's nice.
0:41:43 > 0:41:45She knows what to say, doesn't she?
0:41:45 > 0:41:47Especially when he's right behind us!
0:41:47 > 0:41:49Hwoarh!
0:41:54 > 0:41:57- How old are you, Josh?- Nine. - You're nine years old?- Yeah.
0:41:57 > 0:42:00OK, and what made you want to come here then?
0:42:00 > 0:42:04Well, I love boxing and I just want to be a schoolboy champion.
0:42:04 > 0:42:05- Do you really?- Yeah.
0:42:05 > 0:42:07With a punch like that, I reckon you could be.
0:42:07 > 0:42:10I wouldn't want to get in the ring with you, mate!
0:42:22 > 0:42:25- Boxing is hard work.- I didn't realise it was going to be this tough.
0:42:25 > 0:42:28I think Trav's going to shout at us if we don't start working.
0:42:28 > 0:42:30We'd best run.
0:42:30 > 0:42:32Come on, you two! Hurry up! Come on!
0:42:32 > 0:42:35Not every rescue comes out of the front door of a burning building.
0:42:35 > 0:42:38Sometimes a rescue is just a simple hand up.
0:42:38 > 0:42:41Comic Relief's been vital to us.
0:42:41 > 0:42:44It's helped us to achieve sustainability in what we do.
0:42:44 > 0:42:47They've given us the facility to maybe show these kids,
0:42:47 > 0:42:51give them a different perspective on life.
0:42:51 > 0:42:53There's a lot of kids around here don't have anything,
0:42:53 > 0:42:57don't have love, don't have the arm round their shoulder they need.
0:42:57 > 0:43:00The result of our gang is they get in the boxing ring,
0:43:00 > 0:43:03they show respect to each other, they have love in abundance.
0:43:11 > 0:43:13It can be pretty tough being a young person,
0:43:13 > 0:43:15but this boxing club has given these guys the structure,
0:43:15 > 0:43:18discipline and support they need growing up.
0:43:18 > 0:43:21Without the help of Comic Relief and the hard work and dedication
0:43:21 > 0:43:24of Mike, Trav and all the team here, this place simply wouldn't exist.
0:43:24 > 0:43:27Guys, thank you for having us today, we've loved it.
0:43:27 > 0:43:29I know what you're waiting for - the main event.
0:43:29 > 0:43:32Come on, big boy, let's get ready to rumble. Here we go.
0:43:32 > 0:43:34Er, this face is too pretty for boxing.
0:43:34 > 0:43:36- Trav, take care of him, will you?- Trav? What?
0:43:36 > 0:43:37LAUGHTER
0:43:37 > 0:43:41I've got a train to catch, actually, Trav! I'll see you later!
0:43:42 > 0:43:44CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:43:47 > 0:43:50As you've seen, Comic Relief money really does help people
0:43:50 > 0:43:51who aren't as fortunate as others.
0:43:51 > 0:43:54Without your generosity, the young people we met
0:43:54 > 0:43:56wouldn't have hope for a brighter future, so thank you.
0:43:56 > 0:43:59Thank you indeed. Right, Mr D, it's that time in the show
0:43:59 > 0:44:01where you put your dulcet tones to good use.
0:44:01 > 0:44:05OK then, Markingtons, here we go - stop voting, folks!
0:44:05 > 0:44:08The phone lines are now closed!
0:44:08 > 0:44:10CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:44:12 > 0:44:14"Ooh" indeed! We will now count and verify your votes.
0:44:14 > 0:44:17If you do call now, your vote won't be counted
0:44:17 > 0:44:19and you may still be charged, so don't bother.
0:44:19 > 0:44:22Don't bother. Our groups have done all they can.
0:44:22 > 0:44:24They now have a nervous wait backstage for the results,
0:44:24 > 0:44:27but to take their minds off things, we have Glee Club's big sister
0:44:27 > 0:44:29there to keep them calm - how's it going, Naomi?
0:44:29 > 0:44:31It's going well, thank you, Mark.
0:44:31 > 0:44:35I'm here with three very relieved and still quite excited finalists.
0:44:35 > 0:44:38Resonate, you brought a tear to my eye there.
0:44:38 > 0:44:39Are you glad it's almost over?
0:44:39 > 0:44:42No, we're really sad, we've had such an amazing experience,
0:44:42 > 0:44:44we've made some great friends.
0:44:44 > 0:44:47To win would be a dream, but just being part of this has been amazing.
0:44:47 > 0:44:48Oh, well done.
0:44:48 > 0:44:51Over to LS8 - tell me, what's been the best bit for you?
0:44:51 > 0:44:53Getting close with the rest of the members,
0:44:53 > 0:44:56cos we don't do classes together, so we don't see each other that much.
0:44:56 > 0:45:00Oh, great mates. And over to Raveheart as quick as we can, just to see you.
